      Jam, mine is on his own, he's an only child lol. I reccomend getting one at a young age so you can train it in the way that best suits your living conditions. I looked into rehoming an older Bengal that had behavior issues and im glad I didn't simply because Tyson and I have built an incredible bond. My (rescue) Bengal. Came to me as an indoor cat. But she rapidly chose the outdoor life. She goes out when she likes (even walking on the roof of my house and my neighbours house). She likes to go for walks and even demands walks. She really really hates dogs and growls at them. She has no problems with other cats but will defend herself if she is attacked. A scratching post (heavy duty) is a must. And she does cuddle even curling up next to me on the bed sometimes. She is a real character.

    I have a Bengal who was in several other homes before mine. It took her a long time to settle in. I think she was traumatized. But she is my little buddy now. I love her to pieces. She plays at night with my yellow tabby. They run through the house, up and over the furniture. She sits on the stool at the kitchen island and talks to me! Sleeps on my bed, loves “pats and purrs!”. So glad I got her. Who knows what might have happened, had I not taken her on.

      Mine was the same - I got mine off my brothers family who just didn’t want her. It didn’t take long for her to settle. She’s just like a normal cat, but very vocal. She loves going outside and always comes screaming when she hear my keys in the door. Everyone comments on how beautiful she looks, she’s silver with black rosettes, and black underneath her feet.

    Very good video. I have a 1.5 year old male Bengal Cat and I can relate to really everything you said. He is a big trouble maker, but the cutest and most affectionate cat I have ever had in 30 years of owning normal house cats. In my opinion Bengals are less aggressive than other breeds. They are just active and playful, which is often mistaken as being aggressive. When we have small kids over, my Bengal shows the most patients with them I have ever seen a cat showing. He doesnt react at all when his tail is being pulled or he gets hit accidently. There is nothing of these things that make him mad or attack.
    On the other side, he sometimes starts to bite when I pet him. But it is clearly only playing. He starts to carefully take my hand and bites very softly and looks at me like: "Is that ok for you, I really want to do that, but I dont want to hurt you." When I tell him to stop, he stopps right away and starts to lick me, like he is really sorry hurting me. After like 2 minutes he starts to bite very softly again. That is really hilarious. The intelligence and the way Bengal interact with us humans is so much different to normal cats. I wouldn't change him for anything, even though he is a lot of work and I spend way too much money for toys, which he ruins after just a few minutes.

    I don't have a Bengal but I have a high energy cat with all the characteristics of a Bengal and I'm thinking about moving from a house to a smaller townhouse or apartment. Thanks for showing that your cats can be happy in a small space. Also, I don't think people really understand the importance of matching cats energy when getting two cats. We got a second cat as a playmate but he was so lazy and wouldn't play with our high energy one. Also because the new cat was more dominant our high energy cat wasn't getting the play he needed. We had to give the second cat to my partner's parents. I wish we fully understood that two cats should be the same energy before we adopted the second one. So important!

    We have a Bengal cat with a wonderful temperament. He plays outside all day if he wants and sleeps on every chair and bed! He loves his freedom and also seems to love being with us. He has great spurts of energy and rushes up trees to get our attention and scratches his nails on the trees. We trained him to travel in the car with his jacket on, hates dogs, likes other cats and will sit with us when we are typing for hours until meal time when he will sit on the keyboard to tell us to stop! He has an auto cat flap, a cat fountain and we have raised his food bowls to his chest height. We are his servants and accept this!!!

    Etienne, I inherited an 8-y/o Siberian named Randy. He’s a beautiful black, fluffy, green-eyed cat, and exceptionally intelligent. The problem is that when I got Randy, he was *already* an outdoor/indoor cat who LOVES hunting and bringing me “gifts.” He’s NOT the indoor, affectionate, companionate cat I dreamt of having (a blue-point Birman). I think my little house is too small for Randy. He’s too smart for most cat toys and is satisfied only with REAL prey. He eats A LOT, and uses the house as a place to eat and sleep, not to spend time with me. I can’t get a second cat--such as a Birman kitten--as Randy would kill him. Obviously, Randy doesn’t suit my lifestyle, but if I give him to a shelter, no one wants a 10 y/o cat, and they would kill him. I couldn’t bear that. What do you suggest?

    I have 2 Bengals. One 9 month male one 6 month female. The female is definitely more “bengal” than the male in terms of behavior. The most bengal thing Mr Beerus does is he is very vocal, mr demanding. Whether it be the sun is up human open my shades!! His favorite thing to do is bird watch out the window on his tree. But overall he is a very chill cat aside from his few bursts of energy through the day. The female however she is all up in everything 😂. I can’t open my fridge without her trying to jump inside to inspect, she is constantly wanting to play and seeking attention - she’s like a little Labrador and will play fetch with you all day long if you let her. She talks back. She plays in the bath. But overall these two kitties are so amazing. I love them so much ; my number one recommendation for potential bengal owners- TOYS! Play time - kitty puzzles, cat trees and if you can a wheel! Regardless, please play with your cats! I truly believe a lot of “bad behavior” could easily be solved if people just took time out of their day to help them exercise that energy out. Love my puppy cats ❤

When he lived in the country she would go outside all the time and hunt however since moving to town she’s become a house cat. She’s very happy. Although she is sometimes clumsy! I have a cat who is half Bengal and the other half I don't remember. I recently bought a pure Bengal and your description fits both. Me, husband and granddaughter just love to sit there at watch them chase each other is a lot of action than Starwars, (we have 4 cats now). We live in a 2-bedroom apartment, open all the doors and just watch. WHAT A TREAT! My other 2 cats try to keep up, which is also funny. Cats may not be like a dog (I also love dogs), which is too much work at our age. Since we are retired, our cats are never left alone. May I suggest getting another cat to be a pal for the Bengal.

      Easy way to tell is by the tail. Bengals have very muscular tails and if you push their tail they push back and actually can hold their tails fairly high. Normal cats tend to have weaker, almost floppy tails by comparison. The Bengal tail is unmistakably strong!

    After this video it explains why I see so many adolescent and adult Bengals up for adoption. To have the equivalence of a 2 year old toddler on a sugar high for the next 15 years or so is horrifying yet oddly rewarding at the same time to most Bengal parents.. Sadly I passed on 2 two year old show quality Bengals for $1000 for both because I could not see myself going through the toddler thing again but this time with 2 cats instead. So I then decided to look into the Abyssinian and Egyptian Mau breeds to find out that they are just as intense as the Bengals. I finally decided to get 2 Birman kittens and I will be picking them up in 5 weeks.

    Having owned a Bengal, I'll never have another. The easiest way to tell if my Bengal, Bailey, was awake is if she was vocalizing because if she was awake, she was "talking", non-stop... and I mean endlessly. I'd advise an English Shorthair, American Shorthair, Russian Blue, or a Maine Coon - if the shedding isn't a concern.

    Not sure he's a ToyGer; But not sandy colored Bengal; Has light Gray with the black strips, black pads under paws, striped vertical along the body and horizontal on the legs. Great temperament, loving, has an assertive not aggressive attitude, will fake bite no clawing. and very quite, has never hissed at us, even when we struggle with his harness. But he does have the emblem between the ears of a butterfly.. and a board noise, like a Tiger.. Great little Kitty named Tiger... Does have some traits of the Bengal; fast, gets board and gets into trouble... very stubborn and doesn't give up easily

    Lots of people may prefer an older bengal? I think they become more sane with age. I just adopted an older Bengal, and my initial observation is his behavior seems very normal. It's the same social behavior as other cats I have had, except it seems impossible to pet him too much. When being social, he likes to circling back and forth, rubbing and purring. Then he walks a few feet away, rolls on his side, and purrs loudly. Eventually he will lie down next to me, purring and kneeding with his paws like an ordinary cat, with the caveat that I have to be touching him the whole time. If I then give him a pet, he jumps up and the whole social greating restarts from the beginning. But he isn't super energetic, as in running, jumping, and exploring, or atleast I haven't seen it yet.

    • @monsieurtn
      @monsieurtn  3 роки тому

      That's true, they do mellow out with age. My Bengal is still quite energetic but definitely not as crazy as he was when he was a kitten. He's still as loud as ever though - he yells whenever he's bored. My Bengal requires me to be a lot more aware as I don't want him to develop any destructive habits.

    We adopt Bengals after their first adopters realized that they didn't know what they were getting into. Needless to say, we absolutely love, love, love them. You need to be patient, as has been documented in this video. This video is generally correct, however, every Bengal (and every other cat) is different and has a different personality. One of our boys is very cuddly and will jump into my lap frequently and sleep next to me at night. He doesn't mind being picked up. Our other boy doesn't like to be held but is such a sweet cat on his own terms.

      In addition to the feliway, I would also recommend that no attention be given whenever he does howl. Don't even look at him. It might be very difficult, but it's very possible it's a trained response if he is given attention. Give him his regular play times (when he's quiet) and nothing when he's yelling. Latte had that problem in the beginning. Whenever he howls, I close the door and ignore him. He rarely does it anymore to get attention.

A Bengal cat 😸...he's in a room for now till he's introduced to my other cat, I have noticed that he came from a home with 3 small boys under the age of six...he hisses alot, I soon realized the reason for his hisses was children at the age torched the cat, believe he's fearful of being pulled by the tail Beautiful cat he loves being touched, Only time will tell what type of cat he will turn out to be he's 2years old, didn't want the owner to give him to human society, he was on the waiting list, heartbreaking to adopt animal from the human society they are scared, and scarred damaged goods. Wish me luck. Thank YOU for the information.

      I love my cat wheel for my Bengal cat (it's really a life saver sometimes) but unfortunately there isn't many cat wheel products in the west other than the well known ones like OneFastCat - however, if you're living in Asia there's a bunch of different cat wheels available. I tried to find some of the brands I know online - but unfortunately they don't ship overseas (probably due to how big the wheels are). Here's my guide to cat wheels if you're curious: monsieurtn.com/complete-cat-wheel-guide/.

      I have a Bengal/ Tabby mix and she leans very much toward her Bengal genes. She is very high energy and wants to be everywhere all the time. She's very vocal and you will quickly learn what each of her calls will mean. She loves to climb and always wants to be high up- but it depends on each cat. Giving her lots of items to hunt and places to hide as she stalks her toys is important!
      Keeping her mind busy is super important, even as a 5 month old kitten. The more we give them to do the better behaved they are. I live in a studio apartment and take her on walks through the hallways during the day and outside when the weather is nice. If you are thinking of doing that introduce the harness to them quite early on. I work from home so I get to spend basically all my time with her, but she does well when she is left alone as well.
      Cats are very much into routine, much like a young child. Pickles currently wakes me up before my alarm at 5:45am we have play time, I go out and leave her for an hour, we get back and have about 2 hours of playtime and running around, then she sleeps from noon-7/8pm. After that she is up and energized reaching peak zoomies at 11:30pm, then settles down at midnight.

      Emma Ferguson wow that’s incredible! But as a Medical student its maybe a bit difficult; I live in a Hostel, I should be outside from 7:00 till 19:00, at home i should also study a lot, i can separate just 20 min- 40min each day for a cat except Saturdays and Sundays. What do you think would i be able to handle if i get a bengal??

    • @emmaf4367
      @emmaf4367 3 роки тому +4

      @@muezzal2702 it could be quite challenging as Bengals are fairly high maintenance- they are essentially very smart toddlers. Every cat is different but mine starts her calls when I don’t pay attention to her for more than 30 seconds. If you are wanting a bengal it might be worth holding off until you have more time to dedicate to the animal.

I’m trying my best to integrate him and give him a beautiful large home, lm really struggling with this guys aggressive behaviour when he would attack me for no reason and spits continuously at my older cat, lm just so sad right now as nothing is working and humans have failed this little guy, everyone just throws him out of the house and he moves onto another house.

    But these fancy cats are thousands of dollars so there's no way you can find one at any free adoption center. Where did you get yours & how much? any tips for buying, I want a brown one like yours. + the expensive medical cost, how do you survive all that insurance or? Thanks :)

    • @monsieurtn
      @monsieurtn  3 роки тому +5

      Hi! To answer your first question, actually Bengal cats tend to be more often to end up at adoption centers than not, simply because the owners don't know how much preparation and attention the breed requires (especially as kittens). For my Bengal cat, a breeder was about to put him up for adoption since he had a scar on his arm from his mother, so I decided to do the research and pick him up!
      For your second question, Asia tends to be much cheaper in terms of vet costs than the west (Canada and US) which is where I live. Therefore, I don't have any insurance here in Asia - however, when I lived in Canada, I got insurance.
