- My entertaining Kakarikis in the aviary. They were once widespread in New-zealand but now confined to Stewart Island/Rakiura and a number of offshore islands. They are considered vulnerable by the IUCN and BirdLife International because the remaining populations are highly fragmented
i dont need a pet one thay live around my houce in the wild
The sound they make is so cute.
Who 2019?
I love kakarikes❤️
Me too
2020
Sorry for the late reaction! You could try that, they surely won't kill each other :p, but I would personally not do that because for a kakariki, everything that moves is interesting. Especially if the moving thing is the same species :). so she would probably only disturb the other pair. It's better if you keep them in pairs. And in my opinion, you get the best result when you keep in pairs without other birds.
My BUDGIES talk to this but my kakariki... Not making progress.
My little karakariki died a few days ago and he was a beautiful yellow color. And I didn’t know how or what he died from would you know?
I have one of these kinds of birds, his name is Kirby. This bird is hyper active and wants to eat ANYTHING it seems. I have to really pay attention to him about this. Your bird my have ate something bad perhaps. I think this is a high possibility.
My kakariki never let me touch them but after I enter the aviary they don´t hesitate to come play with my shoelaces or bite my shoes.
Artoo, do you know of kakariki.net we sure would appreciate if you could join the forum and share your experiences keeping kakariki in a colony.
Same here! I'm not allowed to touch them, but they are always sitting on my head or shoulder ;)
I feed the meal worms alive, but you can give them frozen ones also. Providing that you thaw them out in advance :D
Hello,
I had a question...
I have a six square meter aviary.
Two kakarikis live in it.
Can I add another two ?
Then it would be two couples...
Max Mustermann ive read that males can get pretyy competitive and attack each other for females in captivity, may not be worth the risk
@@clockw0rk843 Oh okay that's good to hear, friend had a male which died recently and I had a female which my grandfather now looks after, we were looking to breed them at some point and I found out that info when searching online I guess, glad to hear its not the case
I really want a Kakariki. Do you have experience with them as a household pet?
I also really badly want one, do you know you can get blue morphs?! they have white crowns instead of red ones :)
I got one today and I'm getting a conure tomorrow 😀😆

a yellow one was sitting in my garden the other day. i gave it seed then caught it. its lost its tail, probably from a cat. pretty strange to see in the North of England.
BIG MIK MEDIA what did you do with him ?
Can you make a care video?
bonsoir Moi quand je met manger il jeté avec sa patte
this will happen what I suggest is keep the two birds separated this happens because the kakaraki is a curius bird and will go and investigate and who was there first ?
are they noisy for let's say an apartment? (just two let's say).
Jayce Miles Not at all I got 2 they're so playful
Aan at2e
I see dried meal worms. But what is the white one?
I put this on @pumpkinsfriends. Hope that's okay.
I'm getting one in a couple of months. Very excited!!
The breeder mentioned that they weren't a hands-on
bird. From the replies ... okay. Still definitely worth it!!
it´s so cuties !!!!!!
Hi , nice video can you tell me please are they cocks or hens or both . I have an aviary with lots of different birds in it a proven pair of kakarikis and sadly a hen that has been widowed lately I want to know would it be ok to put the hen in the aviary too ?
Hi I live in Glasgow Scotland I have a cockatiel and a green and red kakariki. I want to know if u feed urz meal worms? I thought I saw a bird eating one on ur video
Thanks I'm going to try that. R they alive or dead when u buy them I don't mind either way lol he was only born on the 20th feb 2012 I've had him since April won't let me touch him yet but he come on to me when he's out think he's just testing me lol
It's a king quail. The fundaments of the aviary are 1m deep, so no mouse could ever get in, or it should be a supermouse. But as far as I know, supermouses don't exist ;)
very nice video have a nice day
What is a care video? sorry, english is not my native language...
Is that a mouse running by at 1:19?
amar amethyst I think it’s a quail
I got Kakariki at home!😃😃😃😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
0:50 a mouse?
6yrs later but i think most aviaries people put quails in the bottom to pick up the seeds birds drop so mouse dont get it or have a reason to come into the cage
Quail🤔
Hello
This kakariki yellow male or female?
Yes I do and they really like it. You should give yours too ;)
good day!tell you kakariko for couples divorce?or together?
Our Kakariki talks for now a few words
I need help. My kakariki try's to attack my other birds. Especially my budgie as soon as he sees the budgie his pupils go in n out very fast. It's scary to see and as he's jumping to him he makes a weird angry noise. The kakariki has been like that since he was 8 weeks old when I got him. He'll be 1 on the 18/2/12
Sharon Keay males don't like each other
What is in the left corner at 1:18
Could I have some advice pls..I have 2 karkariki's and am finding it hard to find the right seed mix..I give them the small parrot mix and when I refresh the seed everyday they jump in the container and kick most of the seed out..its like they don't like most of it and r searching for there favourite seed..it drives me crazy because there is sooo much seed that goes to waste..or is that just normal behaviour ? I give them all the extra stuff like fruit etc Could some tell me what seed mix they use ! Thank you...:)
maria elhassan well first off parrots shouldn’t have seeds as their main diet. Pellets are a staple. You can have seeds as treats or to have when converting to pellets. Just see what they like best :)
Beautiful birds
عندي جوز ومات النثى طيورحلوه وجميله👍
That's a king quail, female ;-)
They're so beautiful
Indeed your are right:)

you probaly wont reply but i have a kakariki too and its been 4 months since i got her she only eats from my hand and jump over my hand but she wont go on my hand or cuddle so what do i do to taim her?
@@Cromerhwa patience is the key. Sometimes it takes up to a year for a bird 2 warm up to you.
@@VindictiveRaider Thank you :)
@@VindictiveRaider But is there any tips you could tell me which won't make my kakariki afraid of me?
@@Cromerhwa birds are like butterflies the more you keep trying to catch it the more it'll run away. Just go with the flow and eventually it'll warm up to you.
Because they are so curious offcourse ;-)
After keeping and breeding many parakeet species over the years, the kakariki are my all time favourite.
Their colours, personality and ease of keeping are amazing.
I emigrated from the uk 17 years ago and so have not been able to keep them. I am returning this year and my dream is to have an aviary with kakariki, budgies and created partridge. ❤
please make a care video
