- All Credit to Ani-Nation Reborn for supplying the resources necessary to edit the Dragon Ball Z Kai clips and Coycoy88 for the unreleased tracks. I always try to stay close to the original scoring. However, this scene in particular was noticeably shorter than it's Z counterpart, and I did my best to preserve the original placement.

The way Goku says "You FOOL!" gives me chills. The way he says it makes it sound like he's angry that Freeza didn't take his advice and just leave like a smart person would.

Frieza's my favorite villain. He wasn't just some overpowered creation with no personality. He actually was a sadistic, evil, menacing villain that was evil by nature, not by default.

thats why I like the Goku/Frieza fights so much. It pitted Goku's refined martial arts against Frieza's brutal tooth and claw tactics.They're complete opposites in every way and I love it.
Chris Ayers does such an awesome job voicing Freeza! He kinda sounds like Invader Zim with a slightly deeper voice.

Seriously, the combination of Bruce Faulconer's Audio and The Kai dub make this so epic. I personally enjoyed both Dubs and I'd recommend both for this saga.
I love that Frieza is having a flashback to stuff that, for him, happened mere MINUTES ago.
The Ginyu Transformation Theme...Faulconer's crowning achievement of the american score. Whenever they used this piece, you know something amazing was gonna happen. Goku killing Frieza, Trunks going insane, Gohan killing Cell, Gohan going SSJ2 at the World Tournament, and Kid Buu destroying Earth. All those moments become amazing due to this piece. I wanted the american score in Kai solely for this piece of music. I dont care how stupid that sounds.
This all fits in so perfectly. Excellent job!

Although Kai has the superior dubbing, script and visuals (exception being Gohan's new VA) I just can't enjoy it without Faulconer's fantastic soundtrack.
Simply the best scene with the best music.
Dang, the "You fool!" in this one is ten times better then the old one.
He was like "You fool..." in the old one, it was kinda lame.

Sean Schemmel has REALLY improved as Goku in this dub. As far as the old Funimation dub goes, I blame the direction rather than his acting, cause I've heard him in other anime and he's really damn good.

i'm almost glad they didnt do the buu saga. I dont see how there would have been much room for improvement, at least in the funidub. The music and voice acting was pretty polished imo. i can honestly say that is the best work funi has done.
He will, Sabat and Schemmel have gone a long way since Z. Both of their voices are hella deeper now. You don't hear Goku's voice as ecstatic but more deeper while Sabat's less enthusiastic and more lethal. Either way, still excited to hear Vegito again.

So the kai dvds come with the faulconer audio or did you edit it all??
Kai in general, english and japanese, are closer to the manga. Redone script, original soundtrack, and removed filler. This was done to make it as close to the manga as possible, not to mention the removal of the Faulconer score was suggested by Chris Sabat, Sean Schemmel, and other actors of the series cause they wanted the most authentic product they could do.

Only the Saiyan and Namek sagas were fully redubbed, once you get past that point it isn't too different, more than a few of those horrible lines were still left untouched.

Faulconer honestly set an amazing overtone to the original funimation series. I highly respect and enjoy the original japanese score, but faulconer just seems more fitting.

The reason Faulconer's music wasn't used for Kai is because Faulconer cut his ties with FUNimation long ago. That's why they didn't simply use his music for the Remastered editions of seasons 1 and 2, although I must admit that Nathan Johnson's new score was still satisfactory.

To be honest, I see DBZ Kai as just another version of DBZ, not a mere redubbing like the Remastered box sets. As its own series, I think Kai was just as good as the original, and I still think it should have gone until the Majin Buu saga. If they cut the Buu saga out, then they did it for a reason, not just laziness.
But I admit, I miss the music from Nathan Johnson and Bruce Faulconer.
Kai actually did Buu at some point. Just not on TV.

When Trunks and Goku have their talk, remember how he says he had to kill Frieza because Goku's ship was two hours behind? Then Goku told him he could have killed Cold and Frieza at any time because of Instant Transmission. That's when Future Trunks got upset at messing up the timeline.
So we can safely assume the Goku of his timeline killed Frieza and King Cold.

The Grandma voice came from the original OceanDub of DBZ. When Funmation took over they tried to mimic the Ocean Group's voices as close as they could, but overtime they started adapting to their own versions. The DBZ Kai reeboot of the series brought some new actors and lost some old ones so they were given a clean slate to start over with. Hence why so many voices are much better in Kai then any previous dub, Frieza in particular .
@SorapwnsRoxas I think both have a good taste. This new one brings out the "snobby" ruler of the universe side of Frieza while the old one brought out the "creepy cold-blooded killer" side.

Blu ray or basic season dvd's, both are uncut and uncensored.
Makes me kinda laugh how fans go ape over what sound track or dub is better then any other no disrespect towards yall. Even more crazy when I catch wind from a fan who complains that Naruto kicks DBZ'z butt. In all honesty I prefer the original dub aired on Toonami back then because it was what I grew up with it as a kid. My experince is that when people fight over this show it turns away people who don't know anything about it thus killing the vibe and hipe of what this show had in its hay day all those years ago. Keep the peace, enjoy the show

Closeness or not, I think it's a matter of preference. I honestly prefer the Faulconer dub because I love my score to fit with the movie I'm watching. I think Faulconer flows better, but to each their own/

I agree. No offense to the old dub but they were rather new at that point. 10-12 years of voice acting and refinement has done wonders for the Kai dub though. Now if only Kai had the American soundtrack at least as a option on the dvd/blu ray sets, then we could all be happy.

Yep, they did that often in the Z dub especially in the Freeza saga
Stuff like Vegeta's death scene, Goku's "I am" speech, and Freeza's character overall where rewritten in the DBZ dub
All of which in DBZ Kai dub was accurately written back to how it was originally intended
