Good antifreeze will help stop or at least slow down the liner erosion issue. I used to work for a Nuffield/Leyland dealer, and often did engines on JCB's too We used to liners on the farm, in a day. Cracked or pin holes, a common issue on the 3.8. less so on later 4/98 - 6/98 I wouldn’t say we did it every week, but we used to do more than 1 a month for certain. Other than the liners these were a tough, smooth running engine. esp with the in line pump set up well If the liners were tight and wouldn’t move with the puller, lifting the tractor a little with a bar on the trolley jack and hit the front weight bar with a sledge hammer and the stuck one used to pop free
If you clean that lining, oil it with thin oil, wipe it thoroughly dry, and then give it a blow, you should be able to see if the crack's there. Nice vid!
Yep you’d be correct mate. Been around the LandRover a fair while but been around my dads old Fergy TEF20 longer, might be a video on that in the future 😉

Good stuff mate. You have probably been around motors since you could walk. I’m looking forward to the next instalment. 👍🏻🙏🦘
