  • I discuss blocking inside zone read against an odd front in the spread offense. You'll see the number system that I use to make sure every one on defense is accounted for, and the read key for the QB is clearly identified pre-snap.

    Blocking inside zone read against an odd front can be tricky because there are uncovered gaps, but this simple number system makes it easier than ever.

      I believe the blocking schemes will work for me even though I'm working with junior high kids. The defence that they're running here th is a 3-3 stack so looking at combo blocking.

    I understand that’s good on the board but this week we have to double the nose!

    So do I run zone right or left? What do you call it when you want more of a down hill run?

    • @TheSpreadOffense
      @TheSpreadOffense  3 роки тому

      You can run it either way. For me, Inside Zone is my down hill run. The back's priority is opposite A gap and he'll jam it in the bubble if he doesn't bounce or cut back
      If you want more down hill then power is a good option, or even counter Trey

    Hey coach,
    When they playside tackle slants in and the guard takes over, the LB the PS guard is working to can still plug the A gap if the ball presents itself there. Could the PS guard still come off on the LB if he triggers even if that PS 4 slants inside?

    • @TheSpreadOffense
      @TheSpreadOffense  Рік тому

      The center is responsible for play side A gap. So, if LB plugs the A gap then it's gotta be the center that takes it. That's why running it to the stand up is not great because it takes away the double teams as the PST, PSG and C are all now base blocking.
      I prefer checking away if possible.

      @@TheSpreadOffense thanks for the response. We run with an H as well on the playside so he would block the stand up so it would be a double with the PS guard and tackle and we ID to the backside backer.

    Hey, Coach. Do you have any videos for IZ v stunts?

    • @TheSpreadOffense
      @TheSpreadOffense  2 роки тому +1

      No videos on stunts. What are you looking for? Nice thing about zone is you pick up who ever enters play side gap, so stunts are not a huge problem for the zone schemes

    In the charger front, why borrow the center? Why not just check away from the strength?

    • @TheSpreadOffense
      @TheSpreadOffense  Рік тому +1

      That’s what we do and what I tell my Q. We usually run away from it, but if we happen to be in a position to run at it then we plus our numbers to it

    What if they have an over front either the center and guards covered up?

    • @TheSpreadOffense
      @TheSpreadOffense  Рік тому

      If the center is covered to his backside with a shade then he needs to show his backside hand before working to the LB.
      If the center has a backside 2i then he is not helping on the backside at all.

    Hey coach. How does the o line typically communicate which numbers the defenders are?

    • @TheSpreadOffense
      @TheSpreadOffense  Рік тому

      We don’t call out the numbers. The numbers help understand who is responsible for who. We then communicate who is “base” and who is in the combo or double team

    So it works if the defence completely ignore an A or B gap, and loses yardage if the defence don't act like idiots? Super! Maybe an example of a successful (4+) rushing attempt against a defence that plays with discipline and is not physically overmatched would be a useful addition...
