It was timing. After two seasons of not being close to contention, ownership decided this off season to get out of the tax.

It was a stalemate. Joe wasn't going to offer the same deal or more and Klay wasn't going to accept that deal or take less than he could get elsewhere. They really had nothing more to say, and which hole do you ruin golf day on? 18? You'd just be repeating what you stand on.
