This guy never ceases to amaze me he's Jimi Hendrix Stevie Ray Vaughan Waylon Jennings and Eddie Van Halen all rolled into one! WTF!? Embarrassingly I knew very little of this guy outside of the fact that he was the voice of early cuyler on squidbillies until just recently. Upon listening to his music catalog and his live performances I now have a new favorite guitar player among my list of all-time favorites. He's one of the best I've ever heard, and I'm 59 years old!
Yeah, he stopped touring and making music, about a decade ago. I think his last studio album was in 2012. He had arthritis, and he just got tired of touring, from the only things I’ve ever found or heard , that wasn’t just on Wikipedia already. I heard he had health issues, back when I saw him in 2012, but he’s very well known in North Carolina. I just wish he could’ve implemented his best playing, into his own songs, in the studio, instead of usually using them more on covers, for live shows.
I agree. As Ed King said about him, "he is a very fluid player". I never hear a missed note. And his timing is impeccable! One of the best guitar players ever!
One of the best voice actors to ever voice a cartoon show! Helluva good guitarist! Bought every available Squidbillies on DVD, would be great to see him play live! The Future is Unknown!
I first heard him with some of his typical stuff like Your Man is Gay and Foggy Windows but this dude is a genius. He is one of the best guitarists out there and could rival anyone in the industry. He has grace (on guitar) and he can shred it and just knows how to make it sing so subtle or aggressive as he needs. Pure genius
was at the very last show at the Berkley, (S.C.O.T.S.) gave the miller sign that hung over the men's pisser to Adam the owner of the Pour House. never forget some of the shows i saw there ( Dopapod, Big Daddy Love)
I was blessed to see Unknown twice towards the end of his career. If you're a guitar picker you should have him on your radar. Had a smoke with him after his show at the Token Lounge in Detroit, a true guitar hero.
There was sho nuff a shovel head rat bike parked outside the Lincoln Theatre when I saw him in Raleigh. Deserving of his signature guitar but I miss his Rickenbacker period
I went to see Unknown Hinson for the first time because he is funny, and love for the Squidbillie's. I kept going back to see him because Daniel Stewart Baker is an amazing guitar player, especially to hear live.
It's a gott damm outrageous shame that Unknown was woke-cancelled for calling an old whore an old whore. The most brilliant, unique, and criminally underrated guitarist I've ever heard. The man's a genius. 💯
I have a new guitar hero !! I have about 50 guitars , Never had a 12 atring Rick , Just so happens that the Rick I`m getting is a 620 Jet glow, I can use it as a 12 string & then again I can remove the drone strings , & learn this guy`s licks WOW !! WOW !! Love it
That dude knows how to use his equipment. The tone, the pitch, the precision. Impressive to say the least.
I'm a fairly accomplished shredder, student of 80's metal but this guy makes me want to learn some chicken pickin' PRONTO.
A Ric. Lol
As the Unknown Hinson would say anybody can play that rawk music!
Just imagine if he was playing a les Paul.
And he’s funny as hell

Unfortunately, he's actually a racist prick and was fired from the show for it.
It's too bad he has arthritis in his hands. At least that's what he wrote...
Me too, let’s start a me too movement , lm 60 and didn’t know about this guy!
Ditto

Hinson is a brilliant guitarist and lyricist.
Yes the lyrics he wrote for this especially.
As a very big Hendrix and SRV fan, this may be my new favourite version of this brilliant song.
I agree. As Ed King said about him, "he is a very fluid player". I never hear a missed note. And his timing is impeccable! One of the best guitar players ever!
I'm hearing you bro 👍🤘❤️👊
To do this with a Ricky through a Vox is mind blowing.
There’s a pretty cool rig rundown with him here on yt.
NO SHIT , FR
Do Ricks stay in tune better now? versus the old days

I super bummed out. I heard he quit touring because of arthritis in his hands. I haven't been this bummed out since Lemmy died.
Did he get canceled or did the character?
This dude has cultivated a distinct playing style. Rare.
Once a niche opens up, you gotta recognize it and grab it.
not just the notes and harmonies, but the spirit as well.
Stuart you're my guitar hero. I'm so sad you arent touring. Sorely missed my good sir. What a class act and incredibly talented man. Much respect
Almost in tears that arthritis took this talent away from us. If this had been 1971, he would have been the stuff of legends.
Im 70 . Life long JH fanatic. Never heard anyone do it with his own
feeling like this man.
Love the fact that you can hear his amp "buzz" through the entire song......The pure essence of Jimi and Stevie Ray!
A very faithful and reverent tribute to Jimi. And a nice tip o' the hat to Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) on the outro.
The drummer and bass player are spot on,as well. Great version of this tune. That guy can pick a guitar.
3 piece band

holy hell he ripped this one....
Brilliant, nice ten years after nod at the end.
I'd Love To Change the World 👍
Man, you have to watch and listen close to catch how crazy good his playing is.

I'm a huge fan this guitarist is one of the best and his short songs are genius 😊
I was blessed to see Unknown twice towards the end of his career. If you're a guitar picker you should have him on your radar. Had a smoke with him after his show at the Token Lounge in Detroit, a true guitar hero.

Dang didn’t expect that 😲
Rickenbackers arn’t suppose to sound this good!
Ha, and that's the thing people should really know, they absolutely do sound that good. :)
I found one exactly like that. Confidently for sale as a counterfeit.
@@philgray1023 you think Unk's might be a forgery? He bought it from an industry heavy-weight ~ Krystal
90% of that tone is in Unknown's fingers, the other 10% is in that Rick. A true natural player.
I'd love to change the world, what an ending.
The Future is Unknown!!
Dang.... Good stuff Unknown...
LOVE His hendrix classic!!!!!!
How he modulates between keys is great
I went to see Unknown Hinson for the first time because he is funny, and love for the Squidbillie's. I kept going back to see him because Daniel Stewart Baker is an amazing guitar player, especially to hear live.
Most Awesome :)
Righteous performance.👍
Absolute mastery
...."DAMN "...

The man can play. Smoking guitar.

You probably know Johnny Winter played the Fender12 with only 6 strings. Go for it. 👍
That is an extremely worn fretboard! 2:39
Omg..I played on that same stage!
Man can play the same whether hes drAnking clear PARTY LIQUOR or not .😂
Un fucin beliveable
Guy's playing his heart out and all crowd wants to do is talk, drink and not pay attention. Exactly why I don't go to concerts.
Kinda sad you let others ruin this kind of experience for you. Don't!
Not fair he has eight arms
Brilliant. Underappreciated. Glad he didn't play none of the rawk, it is straight from Hell.
0:29 Hey the band is thataway... "thehse chickths are HAWT''
Such a shame he got 'Woke Cancelled' for speaking the truth !

I know his brother Hinson and his other brother Hinson but, I don't know who he is.
Daryl
There's only one Kang.
I ll appreciate gimmicks that actually aren't. Oh, the paradoxical dichotomy.
Misunderstood genius. And early from squid Billy's the man got his personal 🎸
...And he's left handed...
His next album should be called. Shut the hell up womern I’m playing my geetar.

There's nothing to that mess. Not a thang to it.
