- This is the unseen dark side of youtube iceberg explained. UA-cam can be weird. There's some messed up, disturbing, cringe, or just strange stuff on there. I found an iceberg that goes into this, so I decided to explain the iceberg explained. I hope you guys enjoy! This iceberg talks about stuff like the backrooms, the Mandela catalogue, elsagate, salad fingers, filthy frank, the macabre experiment, me!me!me!, I'm a snake, and a whole lot more. If I may say, Ben Drowned was really the first big gaming creepypasta, and the quality of it for the time was exceptional. There were others like Lost Silver and Sonic.exe of course. It might seem cliche if you're only getting to it in more recent years with so much more variety.
While of course looking back at it now, Petscop is higher quality and easier to follow, but for the time it was made and the abilities of modders/emulators then, Ben Drowned was a really influential pasta that a lot of us followed closely and looked back on fondly. If you dislike it that's of course up to you, and I'm not here to change your opinion. I just can't help but find it surprising how different the perspective is from people who are coming to the "classic" internet stories after the fact. You do great work on these videos!

as one of those kids who has safely stayed away from skipidi toilet i can say i know everything but lost silver, it sounds familiar but what is it exactly? just give me the basic rundown of the plot
I remember reading it back in the 2010’s and getting so fascinated with creepypastas. I really like it and it has a space in my head along with other creepypastas.
I'm so glad you touched on how the backrooms has been dumbed down with all the "levels" and analogue horror, it was spookier when it was just a vague concept about isolation without the monsters and lore.
I feel like instead of levels it should be Sectors, to increase realism. And there should've only been 10 total "sectors".

1:19:33 "Angel" is a bit of a long explanation because of the footage the video is edited from.
Basically in czechoslovakia, there was a kids show called slniecko which had a lot of puppet characters. One of the main ones being ratafak plachta. A youtube channel named Jano Sebik made a fan video with a ratafak plachta puppet (its unkown if the puppet is fanmade or if it was the actual puppet from after the show eneded and all the original puppets were supposedly thrown out.) The video shows ratafak plachta lipsyncing a cover of "When You Got It, Flaunt It" and dancing around some stairs next to a bridge. This is the exact video footage that the "Angel" video uses. The angel video itself is just sorta an edited version of the previously mentioned video with a voice at the beginning saying "Do not be afraid" Followed by a loud distorted noise. The rest of the video is just spooky sounding music paired over ratafak plachta dancing.
I highly suggest watching blameitonjorge's video on ratafak plachta, he does a deep dive into the context of the character and how he was sorta used to rise against communism.
It also should be noted that the Jano Sebik channel has many other lesser talked about ratafak plachta fan videos. One very wholesome video shows ratafak plachta holding a sign that says "every woman is beautiful."
Sorry that this comment is so long, after blameitonjorge's video dropped, the topic of ratafak plachta is such a really interesting one to me, as well as the character himself being so interesting.

Personally I like the addition of levels in the backrooms, it gives a sense of hope that would keep them going almost forever. (But there are way too many levels now, it's like they find a liminal space photo and make it a level)

Lauscherhans does have a story. It's an ARG about a man with DID and an experiment to bring his personalities together. The places in the video are also all connected. The story is mostly told on old blogs called ''The Silent Observer'' and Hans Altman, as well as coded messages imbeded in the videos. It's very good and much more artistic than the videos let on.

After growing up with so many of these I think the best is everymanHYBRID and some of the other selnderverse series. It was such a special time in my life and on youtube and I'm glad at least EMH got a proper ending and sendoff. Now I'm almost 27 and life sucks lmao

Angel at 1:19:32 is referring to a video by the UA-camr Gee Gee. The video is just a low res jumbled mess of a Czechoslovakian puppet from the show "Slniečko", featuring creepy sounds.

This is a good video however i think you can improve by going more in depth and doing more research and highlighting the important parts of these. Such as “dumb ways to die” you could’ve went into the reason why it was created (created by Metro trains in Melbourne Australia to promote railroad safety) maybe also have a thumbnail or a background behind texts on each topic and keep it longer maybe take a pause between announcing each topic too because some of the topics you seemed to blur together and i had to rewind in order to catch what the topic was. You have potential! I love ice berg videos and i have hope for your channel!
PS also add some more thumbnails with the topic cause there was some interesting stuff with no picture or context. This is a weird video iceberg after all.

I feel as if some entries felt a bit rushed and weren't in looked into enough for its context/meaning (mostly evident with ones like Webdriver Torso or Unedited Footage of a Bear), otherwise this is a nice video

This content used to both scare and fascinate me when I was a child and took the plunge into Fnaf, Creepypastas and the unexplained videos, so I love the sarcastic and chill tone of this video now that I'm looking back at these things as an adult! I bet videos this long are a lot of work, but this one is really amazing! Huge respect for all of the research as well!

UA-cam Kids is on the iceberg as several videos on UA-cam when YTK launched were automatically marked as "for kids". I myself have happened to stumble upon on of these "for kids" videos while researching an entry deeper in this iceberg, "SmileWithMe" where the video with the eyeball was marked "for kids".

Added input on "fingertips" at 24:39. The song used in the video is a slowed down segment of the They Might Be Giants song of the same name. It is made in a similar vein to animations by an0nymoose & eltorrorus64. It features the heavy from TF2 looking at his own fingertips while getting more and more distorted.

I know I'm like, 3 months late but at 52:59, omega mart is actually an attraction located in Las Vegas. It's a pretty cool place made by MeowWolf, it's pretty much just an art exhibit. Their company also has a few other locations for different art exhibits, like the convergence station in Denver. Thought I would just mention this because its pretty neat lol

The audio in Fingertips is actually a portion of a song/audio experiment by They Might Be Giants. It was a song made of a bunch of micro-songs near the end of the album. None of them made any sense or had any connection to each other.
The song is on Apollo 18, which was one of their first albums to be put on CD as opposed to cassette tape. The duo wanted to take advantage of the brand new Shuffle feature on the CD player. Every time you listened to the album on shuffle, these weird mini-songs would just pop up in the middle of the full length tracks.
Honestly, if you are into weird and absurdist music and art, I would give Apollo 18 by They Might Be Giants a listen. Especially on shuffle.

A lot of these you kinda explained the title and thumbnail and then that it which is sad cus a lot of these videos are much more than what you say that can easily be explained in a few sentences other then "a video where a man sits and smiles" completely forgetting the fact that one of the videos he hits walked in on by a stranger but dosnt even react continuously smiling , basically what makes it well known to be on the I've burg
53:49 Scary Logos mostly refer to logos that would show up at the end of cartoons. A lot of people found them offputting as kids, and have taken to the internet as adults and teenagers to discuss them. A common example of a 'Scary Logo' is the old Klasky-Csupo logo, with its weird 3D eyes and realistic mouth.
This is very much a 'Random Childhood Trauma' thing I relate to. These logos meant the end of an episode, and would often be followed by a period of silence. As a kid, I remember the sound of a crowd booing in a football game my dad played scaring me, so I could totally see some of the weird voices and synthesizers used in these logos scaring some kids.

Omega Mart is a actual attraction you can visit in vegas owned by Meow Wolf which has four different locations their first in my state, its built to be very trippy. Like fridges that lead to what looks like some 80's movie spaceship interior, a washing machine slide to a dark neon forest, overall meow wolf aims to confuse and entertain you, omega mart being a location built around the premise of a grocery store but everything is messed up, and almost all of the items you can buy in the gift shop as well, its really cool if your ever in Vegas, Santa Fe, Denver, and someplace in texas I cant remember maybe Huston, I would 100% recommend checking it out it's so cool and just awe-inspiring.

Farone is not a single UA-camr, but a large and dangerous corporation. The original owner (a normal guy) is presumably missing and they took over his channel and now post their "cartoons" from the 80s.

About Silvagunner he WAS a dude that posts nintendo ost songs but since nintend copyright claimed all of the videos he had to make "remixes" to the videos from now on. I could be wrong.
He didn't make remixes because of copyright claims, he does the remixes since the start of the channel for trolling and funnies, disguised as "SiIvagunner"(the L is a capitalized i) pretending to be the actual "Silvagunner"(normal L) who actually uploaded normal nintendo music. I guess the original one got terminated by youtube. There's a lot of lore created around siivagunner and the channel's team really put a good effort for some lore elements and remixes.

little baby's ice cream was a real place in Philadelphia, PA! I went there back in summer 2015 and they specialized in really strange, unorthodox flavors. The ice cream was actually amazing, but I do believe they closed back in 2018 or 2019 unfortunately. I was under the assumption they only had a small handful of locations (1or 2) in the Philly area
Yeah they're completely gone. I hate their pizza flavored ice cream, it was weird. Best thing was I got it for free all the time cause I've worked in grocery stores and the packaging was always all fucked up.

I think the biggest problem with Ben Drowned was that the story was already great the way it was. A lot of the ARG related stuff was done years after the fact, and from a narrative standpoint (given the amateur-style screen capture recordings that accompanied the story), it really didn't need any of that stuff to be expanded on.
But yeah: back when Ben Drowned was just this series of videos with a story attached to it, it was amazing. Like, almost right up there with Petscop. I understand the desire to want to expand on a piece of work from an artist's standpoint, but as a writer, you need to know when a story is concluded. GENERALLY with horror, less is more. Ben Drowned just didn't have the proper infrastructure or planning to facilitate an ARG without taking away from what made the original story great, and the ideas the ARG introduced were interesting but awful in execution.
God, I might have to do a Ben Drowned essay after I finish my Jeff the Killer retrospective. That shit genuinely bugs me because unlike Jeff the Killer (who comes from a series of awfully written stories that I can just enjoy ironically, and who can only get better from here), Ben Drowned WAS a great story at one point in time and then completely shit the bed a decade later after everyone had moved on from it.

On the Lasagna cat channel, after the 4 hour joke of the survery there is some very disturbing things happening
I think I'll stop the clip halfway through, I'm not saying it's not well done but idk, there are many things where you just say something and that's it, for example in the dolphin muzzle, you show us this picture and that's it, when in reality the story is different, and it's not the first time I see this in the clip, another example is the Garfield loop, after 4 hours at the end of the clip some very creepy and gore scenes appear and you say "hilarious" idk man....., plus many the topics don't even have pictures, having to pause each topic to search on google to see what you're talking about. so I don't know, I'm sorry but I can't watch until the end, I can only notice that the clip is made in a hurry and there is not much research, try to work on this part.

this video is just background noise for me. i can't stand this dude thinking 'skibidi toilet' is actually funny. plus he barely talks about any of the topics. he's just a carbon copy of every other creepy iceberg channel out there. like i don't usually downright dislike youtubers but this guy is so fucking annoying with his lack of research and i've only seen like two of his videos.

Absolutely gutted you don’t like Kane Pixels. I think his mix of researching actual dead malls and recretinf them in a 1:1 ratio is pretty clever and an interesting take on what was originally an idea that wasn’t actually fleshed out. He took it from “ya ever look at a space and it feels weird” to “here is an entire web-series about clipping into the back rooms and how it will slowly just drive you mad”

Pro Jared was done so dirty. I remeber his group of "friends" making videos the day after the alligations absolutely throwing Jared under the bus. Those video have if course aged very poorly and its a great example of why you should assume innocence.

I feel like the Kane Pixels backrooms series captures the allure and mystery of the backrooms perfectly. It's a really high quality production and it's a lot more than a generic analog horror.
1:19:40 this is actually a video of raťafák plachta which is a puppet from an old TV series that ran in Slovakia and Czech Republic. The puppet was apparently stolen and long after the series ended a video was uploaded on UA-cam with this doll dancing in a creepy way and stuff like that...

Laucher hans (I prolly spelt that wrong) actually has a whole arg behind it with lore and a conclusion there is many videos going into it but basically it's about this guy who escapes a psych ward or something and finds an abandoned mansion but he has multiple personalities or sum so he tricks himself into thinking other people are there with him and messes with himself (I think that's about right I kinda forgot it's been a minute)
