Everyone actually believes that the kids on Gluten Free actually designed and built their robots for all their years in FIRST, same goes for Mechanical Paradox Cubed. One day these kids will realize they prepared and worked hard to win this competition and that their coaches and parents were there to cheer them on. Really happy that the kids on the team got to experience the competition for themselves. FIRST is not about driving a robot. As Dean Kamen has stated FIRST is really NOT about the robots. It is about the learning journey, and fortunately, these teams coaches and parents got the message, and the real winners are the kids on these teams. Ultimately they will have is a trophy that represents hard work, dedication, and the experiences they received.
I teach video journalism for Maranatha Christian Academy and I was wonder if I could get permission to use this video for one of my student's school projects.
Same here as FROGbots. We got rammed so hard by them when they deliberately shot at us from a couple feet away that two of our wheels lifted off the ground, bend our frame and shattered the hub of one of our drive wheels. There was even a collective vocal cringe from the crowd it was so hard. Ref said our robot was too weak so it was not a penalty. Huh? Glad they correctly called it here, not that it affected the outcome. Congrats to LANBros, Gluten Free and NYAN! Awesome robots and performance.

It is about the learning journey, and unfortunately these teams coaches and parents just don't get that, and the real losers are the kids on these teams. generally id agree, but you look at peter (the programmer from 11115)'s code and its apparent a high schooler wrote it. Not meant to be an insult, but its true. or ask Steven (the builder) about their robot, and he can answer any question you can think of. They work extremely hard. I know that is not the case for all, but for 11115 it is

Completely agree with you. Every year at state the past 4 years I have done robotics there are always peoples robots that are way too good to be true. There was a rookie team this year that went onto worlds and when it came down to team decisions at state the coaches were making decisions for them... NOT the team... And the robot was WAY too good for a first year team...

I actually played against MP cubed at the first stage of the competition. They did put a lot of work in, but you are generally correct.
