There's a reason why United's away support is commonly said to be unrivalled by any other club in England and it comes from games like this. Football at its purest.
All 3 of them were. Solskjaer made the absolute most out of what he could do when the ball arrived to him with a lot to do with no room for error and it was the turning point.
Chelsea fan here I agree and disagree obviously it's not the same as it use to be (3pm kick off being no more the semi finals not being a neutral ground) but still get some classic games. Look at Liverpool man United game the other week and I even cheered when united got the winner.
What a game this was... watched it on my tiny telly in my student flat in St Andrews. This season was a pretty bad one for United but there were some great individual matches along the way.
It's all relative. We played some brilliant football, scored a shit-ton of goals, reached the CL semi finals and would probably have swept the board if Fergie hadn't binned Jaap Stam and left the defence all at sea. Oh for a season like that now!
Remember watching this game live as a 10yr old found the VHS recording When clearing out the unit under the tele 2 days ago Great match. This Manchester United side Under Sir Alex were brilliant
The song from this night..... Show me the way to Aston Villa, It's gonna be a five goal thriller, Obstructed view behind a pillar, Man United play for me,..... Na na na na na na OH OH Fucking love United. Class is permanent.
My mums mate who worked at the stadium got me tickets to this game 30 minutes before kick-off and we flew down to Villa Park in record time. What a game! I was 14 if I remember correctly.
Tough game to be at that last 20 mins. I was in the trinity middle. And a disabled United fan wheeled himself around when they scored the 3rd and flipped me and my brother off quite intently. Then looking at the United fans on the pitch....volatile situation right then.
@@NeroAngelo616 biggest regret of his career though. I mean was Muzzy Isset really worth walking out over? In fairness it was the situation not necessarily the player.

That 2nd goal was just a thing of underrated beauty. All the players, just wow, absolutely stunning goal.

Loving watching this brings back memories 10 year old in living room we me old man dont support either but proper classic cup tie
I can relate to this, almost 10 years old and in my front room with my Dad. 19 years ago this is madness lol
One of the last great eras for Football.
proper fans, proper emotion, FAC owed much to moments like this, but the CL has killed it. No one cares now, even if youre in the final.
Not true
@@steventhompson2511 the viewinng figures say otherwise.
A proper cup, proper football and proper fans.

Can't believe we gave them all the lower north AND lower Doug Ellis!
Should be a £50 glory hunter surcharge for each "fan"
Bill Kent.. you should go and do your homework, ya pap

@@billkent6037 yep. The Gloucester/East Anglia/Darlington/Somerset/Cumbria reds were out in full force that night
Great video. The Cardiff Vs Leeds highlights at half time were a nice bonus!
What a day and night that was. Great memories for those of us who were there.
OMG. Cant believe this exists. I was on the pitch that night. Subbed and Favourited.

This game happened 22 years ago today 😅
The comeback kings!
Those 3rd goal celebrations! lol
What a pleasure watching this game again! Thanks 4 the upload! Villa were terribly unlucky to concede 3 in a short space of time.
Good times
It's no wonder John Gregory quit a month later.....I would say that devastated him
Back when managers were able to choose to walk out.

at 2 each you can hear howc pissed off trevor brooking is. Brilliant
The commentating by John Motson is first class. "Uhhh it's such good finishing"
There was a very, very evil man present at this game as I recall.
Who?
birminghammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Paul Merson was incredible too bad he was playing with bunch of clowns.
He was 34 here and very overweight and his fitness levels werent great. He relied on his natural ability too much.
Happier time with no glazer in sight....but what a 6 minutes it was 😅
