He's 100% right about performing deadlift badly. It will mess up your back very quickly. Performed correctly and slowly it has helped my damaged back immeasurably. To the deadlift! The cause of, and solution to, all back problems
I’m 53 and have been weightlifting for a long time. I do squats but never did a deadlift because I thought it would mess up my back. I’m going to give it a try for the benefits explained in this video.
Great video Sully. This channel compliments the book very well. You also have my sense of humour as well, so I shall be looking forward to all future videos ;-)
I'm 67. My L5-S1 has the following issues: a unilateral pars defect, facet joint arthritis & synovial cyst and a disc bulge. I'd love to include dead-lift in my routine. Is there a safe way to proceed?
Hi. I had an herniated disc after an acident doing a deadlift. How can I return to the training, specialy the deadlifts, in order to avoid a new injury?
100%! Posterior pelvic tilt for the majority is because they have tight hip flexors and weak glutes. The deadlift is a powerhouse posterior chain movement.
@@miknos2 I've heard good things about it. Unfortunately I have a hard to making a program work for me lately. LP was lit Dawg.. But now shit is complicated.
Loved it! I shared it with my aging clients. The only thing o disagreed with us the comment implying that people (a.k.a., creationists) who believe that humans & dinosaurs coexisted (as supported by the Bible) are stupid. That's a little far-fetched and insulting. Nonetheless, it's irrelevant to the topic, so I'll let it go. Overall, I appreciate the video.
I never did deadlifts before but want to start. However, I have a disc bulge that caused extreme sciatic pain in the past. It's stable now. Should I still attempt the deadlift?
When the hell Strength & Conditioning name going to be changed to Athletic Performance Enhancement or Athletic Training (Because strength and conditioning is only one part of the many things a 'Strength & Conditioning Coach' does). And actual Athletic Training to Athletic Therapy (its not cool for me and many others to tell people "I'm Athletic Trainer" and they think Fitness Training or Coaching while I'm an "Athletic Therapist'. It's Stupid to use all those old TERMS. And I'm sick of the misconception.

The Bob Ross of the barbell??
On point
I can concur regarding the back ache. As someone who has a desk job, I find my back feels amazing after deadlifts. It just does vanish 👍
the part about the circus was quite gratifying :^)
Great video. Very accurate except of course we never went to the moon, crazy that anyone ever believed that one
This is fantastic. And gynormous is on point
Dr. Sullivan's way of speaking is to Coach Rippetoe's what a Cadillac Eldorado is to a Grand Wagoneer
Accurate
I was amazed last time I was doing my 5s that on my last difficult as hell rep my pecs kicked in as I finished the lift!
Yes Sir, these are great thanks for them all.
What’s wrong with Hex Bar
John Mikhael nothing it’s a wonderful bar to use.
Hex Bar > Barbell
It doesn't work the back like barbell deadlift does
You are right
It’s an amazing tool and don’t think otherwise...also, watch other videos because this one is incomplete.
Loved your book.
Thank you!
Gonna show this to my momma.
Also I was surprised to hear "doobly doo"... Everyone loves AvE
Just checked it out. That looks like a badass channel. Thanks!
Inspiring!

Read Starting Strength, watch their videos on the deadlift, start light, progress judiciously, and consider getting a coach.
@@GreySteel Ok. I follow-up SS, Rippetoe, Alan Thrall about 2by years. That s an acident.
Will I reach the same weights Someday?
@@marceloh102 I don't know. But you should TRY.
Thanks a lot
Great video, very well explained. I totally agree everyone must Deadlift. Would you recommend even for someone with a posterior pelvic tilt?

Thanks Doc.
Hey cool video but where can I see more of that old dude getting swole. That part was cool.

Shut it.
Was not an implication. It was an outright assertion, not directed at any creed, but only at a particular, idiotic, unsupportable belief.
Down in the duble what now? :D Btw, I love these videos. And this man strong, damn.
The description.
I've heard people say dead lift has helped there tennis/golfers elbow

You mean the same basic stuff they’ve been saying for over a decade now? Sure. Up next: muh press doesn’t cause shoulder impingement
Things have changed over the last year and it would be fair to say that things have become more complicated or perhaps, more nuanced.
@@John-iw1nn Well...it doesn't. And we will say so. Again. Because not everybody has heard it yet.
I wish I can deadlift again but those days are over luckily I can still squat
