There was a kind of underlying harshness in society, particularly in the 80s. Britain had the highest level of violent crime in Europe during the 80. There was a lot of unemployment, lots of places were very run down, and things like football hooliganism and alcohol fuelled violence were relatively common. People were much more intolerant and quite a bit more naive in many ways. We've become more aware of a lot of things now. I dare say though that in 30-40 years time, people will think we're very strange now.

It was filmed at my old school Cavendish Comprehensive in Eastbourne & the home scenes were filmed in St Leonards on Sea. Some of my old friends are in Buddy. It is worth watching & all 5 episodes are on UA-cam.

The social experiment was good i remembered after the acted crime. I recalled the White Ford Escort but the identity parade was abit difficult K was juggling between number 2 and 7. It just goes to show how difficult it is for the witness and victims accounts of the crime. For the police to piece together photo-fit e-fits cars descriptions etc. It's amazing how e-fits, artist impressions and photo-fits lead to convictions with memories being some what vauge and fuzzy a while after the crime was committed .

yes there is a full Reconstruction on Vicky in 1992 and 1994 there are features and later in the series this first one was just weeks after she went missing

I'm wondering if (given the argument the neighbour overheard) there was another woman? Was he killed in a jealous rage? Seems like in many of these cases the victim has an unknown secret life, that would be seen as completely out of character for them.

Yes it leads to the conclusion that when he offered her a lift he had his son with him to persuade her he was a genuine guy. Poor girl.
I think he was only about 2 at the time though so probably had no memories.
