    Dracula Untold was probably the best Dracula movie tbh. It even fits with modern movies trying to make bad guys sympathetic. Which I dislike mostly, but I feel like Dracula needed an origin story.

    George Lucas said way back in the 80's that parts 4-6 were the redemption of Darth Vader and 1-3 would be about his fall, so yes, as soon as the prequels moved forward the turn to the dark side was a given.

    Actually, there was a Hannibal Rising novel from the author of The Silence of the Lambs. The origin story was ALWAYS there.

    • @TheIrishdriveby
      @TheIrishdriveby 2 місяці тому +11

      You are correct however context is key. The author never wanted to write the Hannibal Rising novel however he was essentially forced to do it by the film studio who owned the rights to tie alongside with the movie. They wanted a prequel to essentially milk as much money out of the franchise as they could, in spite of the fact that the original author never wanted an origin story for Hannibal.

      @@KittyKatt_Luna80s it probably explains why the Rising novel and film are pretty bad. Author had absolutely no interest in doing it and the studio probably didn’t care about the quality either, they just wanted to make more money off the franchise. It was so much better, and more terrifying, when the origin of both species were completely unknown. It was lore that just didn't need to be messed with or retconned at all. Not trying to overgeneralize with oblivious positivity and unwavering support for all of cinematic star wars outings, but.... I personally think Anakin was tricked, yes, but that's because he was "seduced" by the extremely tempting and alluring idea of saving his love (of course not realizing he fell into a sort of self fulfilling prophecy). It's simple and one could argue it was underwhelming but bc of emotions and the power they can impact anyone, it's hard not to acknowledge that's all it took
    Not to mention star wars history of subjectivity in characterization ("from a certain point of view")
    Just saying that "from my point of view" it shouldn't have been on this list 😂
    Be honest with yourself, you know youd be begging for explaination with many other fans if they never at least touched on it further. Just bc you didn't love an answer doesn't mean it was unnecessary

      In a way we still don't. His "mother" stole him from his birth parents if I remember correctly.

      Aren't there at least a 1/2 a dozen Jokers (Romero, Nicholson, Hamill, Ledger, Phoenix)

      @patrickdoyle6201 Yeah. And you could ignore it and say its not canon. But for me it took away that mystery about the joker. Ironically I did actually like the film despite thinking this

      @@chrismonks592 I mean you could also imagine it was *ALL*in Fleck's head, *NOTHING* in JOKER actually happened and the most reliable narrator is ironically Heath Ledger's version 🃏

      @patrickdoyle6201 Perhaps Fleck watched the dark Knight rises and imagined the whole thing. And so we still don't know where Ledgers joker came from
