I'm feeling the Monami 153 White. Love its simple look and metal body. I'm sold! I own the Ohto Horizon. The first time I heard the noise the side retract button made, it scared the hell out of me. My reaction had me laughing at myself! Oh, and you've got to get yourself the Jotter XL in Monochrome - Black. I would recommend the Pink Gold as well, but I figure the color is a bit too "girly" for the guys. It's a fantastic looking pen. As always, thanks for the video!
Wow that no.153 Korean pen, reminds me of the old SCRIPTO pens, also one of my fave brands that seams to have disappeared was the PENTECH brand. I don’t find any info when I search it. Love the old designs
I've used the Bic pen for years, specifically because it allows me to click it silently. (I hold my finger on the button so it won't shoot out quickly.) So I'm just wondering if the Fisher pen, or any other quality side button pens, allows quiet clicking?
I have a Monami 153 Black and it's very cool. I really like the refill, too. Does the disposable 153 write the same way? However, I suggest you to check out the Aurora Thesi ballpoint pen. I think we can consider it a side-release pen, but it's also a side-activating pen! Its design is very peculiar.
Did you ever try out a Tactile Turn Side click? It’s not really in-fitting with the rest of the pens/pencils you tend to show on your channel, as it’s not a "large scale" production product, but it’s certainly worth giving it a try. Very high quality pens with all-Titanium Parts. Out of the box they will require a little break-in period, which is just the nature of titanium wearing against titanium. I belive the Copper/Brass versions tend to be a little smoother, but are also a lot heavier.
I have one and like it, although my favorite pen at the moment is Urban Survival Gear's TiScribe Bolt (the full-size version with a Uniball 307 0.5 black refill). I really like that the clip is the mechanism to extend/retract the pen.
@@Ord3ith I also carry a Ti scribe bolt , and like it for much the same reason. They are also a bit slimmer then the Tactile turn, which suits me more.
I have a 1980s Pelikan 'L.Colani No1' which has a side slide switch, really cool design. Never been a fan of the side release pens tbh, gotta be full top clicky for me.
I have two bolt action pens: the Tactile Turn model and Urban Survival Gear's TiScribe Bolt. Of the two, I greatly prefer the latter; it's a slightly thinner/lighter pen, but primarily, I really like that the clip is the bolt action, so you’re moving the clip to open/close the pen. If you have any questions on either pen, I’ll try to answer them for you.
I would call these a side release rather than a side knock. I think of a side knock as a Lamy Tipo or a Pilot FriXion Ball Slim etc. Still a great video. Thanks for your work.
I got myself two of the Monami 153 in metal. I'm really liking them. Some time ago I purchased several Mitsubishi No. 460 retractable ballpoints [www.amazon.co.uk/Ballpoint-Mitsubishi-Pencil-460-24-Black/dp/B077L2LTP2] for the style, a pen with a pencily look to it, but wished they were heavier. The 153 satisfies my want of vintage with some heft to it. Saw this pen in a few other colors that I wouldn't mind having. Wish I could find a metal pen with the look of the 460. Thanks for introducing me and for the video!
I would assume it's as simple as separating the two halves by tightly holding the grip section and turning the bottom plastic half counterclockwise. If you're having difficulty separating the two halves, try running hot water over the section where the bottom half meets the grip section. That may loosen it making it easier to turn. The pen takes G2 refills.
I have several boxy 100 pens. They come apart easily, my 8 year old takes his apart over and over again just to build it for fun. Never broke one… just sayin.

I used to have a bunch of these kinds of pens. They were fun fidget devices as well!
I'm loving the South Korean Monami 153 pen.
Interesting info, thanks. I want an B4.

Seen good things about that FX4000 refill from the Monami 153, definitely have to give those a try
OK thanks, good tip
I love the ohto, it really annoys me that there aren't great refill options for it though.
Truly annoying refill situation

My favourite it's the BiC Bu3 Grip with blue and black ink colours.
What was the black pen in the beginning of the video? It look sleek
Good eye! Rotring lambda. Video coming soon
@@unsharpen I was just looking up the time code (@ 0:33) to ask you the same question. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing your video on it.

Not yet! On my to buy list but they aren’t cheap.

I understand there are obvious differences between the Monami 153 Metal and the Pentel Hexreform. Of the two, which do you prefer and why?
Have you had any bolt action ones? Really want the tactile turn one, but haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet.

You can use the same system as the button pen.

Yea, hm. You are probably right. Side button could also be one of those Pentel pencils where you advance with the button in the grip.
@@unsharpen I know the ones you are talking about, squeeze bar near the grip. I think they are called side feed. I'll have to look it up.
@@unsharpen Pentel has a few: Cool Lines, .e-Clic, Techniclick, and Side FX. They refer to them as side-advance mechanisms.
Please do a review of bolt action pens.

Anyone remember the Uni Ball Techniclick ballpoint pen?
Sleeping on the new Tactile Turn Side Click.
Too pricey for me right now.
Anyone here knows how to install refill on a Pilot Execugel? Stumbled upon this channel and, though I loved it, theres no trace of an Execugel pen

I can’t match the dexterity of a four year old!
