Somehow, I’m just not getting the same intensity out of Klaus that I am from Lozakovich. This concerto is specially written to highlight a cello’s rich, lush textures, and I just don’t feel his sound is deep enough. Here’s where duos like Heifetz/Piatigorski and Kremer/Maisky really shine, because while the violinists did stellar jobs, the cellos really took center stage helmed by musicians known for their ferocity of sound amongst other unique qualities.
The volume of the solo cello is boosted in this clip (I listened to the whole thing live.) I don't think anyone considers him one of the great cellists of our day.
Lozakovich is out of this world every time I've seen him...Makela just seems as if he needs to 'cut loose'...still fascinating performance for the duo...
@@herbiecactus6687 Interesting, I didn’t know that the volume was boosted. And yes, he certainly isn’t one of the greats.
@@plumb.474 Like I said, it’s that intensity, that freedom I was looking for. Not just the extra richness of his sound, but more ferocity in his playing. It suits a concerto like this. I will say though, I like how emotionally invested Klaus seems to be in the music he plays and conducts, it’s nice to see a musician that “wears” the music on his face so clearly without his expressions seeming contrived.
@@Tennisisreallyfun I'm getting used to "the face" (it seems I'll be getting a heavy dose of Klaus, likely for the rest of my life) but I found it disturbing at first.
@1:28...nice, very nice😊 thank you to whole orchestra...❤
wow there is so much incredible chemistry going on between the two soloists and the orchestra. amazing
Klaus and Daniel seem to have an almost divine inspiration and connection in this performance. Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏

Simply "unbelievably a great performance".
No words more to describe!
They are so cute !
Women...
Makers loves music…..
It’s important!🍎
This is actually pretty impressive. The piece is very challenging and to play and conduct takes it to another level.
Wow, I have to say they sound wonderful together, as much as they look beautiful together.
As a cellist I say this is a great performance by both players. That piece is very hard for cello (especially the part that is shown), of course there could be more intensity and rich sound, but with this piece it is also not to be guaranteed from a different cello soloist who is not also a great conductor!
Also the pressure for Mäkela was probably quite difficult to handle, so I have huge respect for him playing so well!
10 лет не слышала Лозакевича!! Замечательный молодёжный дуэт!!!!
Honestly, the tone in their combination sounds a bit to harsh for my taste.
But it's Klaus, I thought he could do no wrong ever 😂
Very much so.
I read the comments and realised with shock and surprise the trolls are feeding on this. That’s so sad. Bullying doesn’t belong here. We are musicians, not trolls. They have no place here.
I don't see much conducting.
They’re never is, just runway walking
Great solid performance. I would love more phrasing and dynamic...
Oh my goodness 😂 😂😂There are two of my biases 😂😂😂 I always listen to Daniel’s Bach!! It’s really great doppel😊😊 Thank you for sharing this✨✨
Que chantada
Er ist grandios, es war mir eine Freude
The way Klaus keeps smiling at Daniel looks like he has a crush on him.
If Daniel ends up abruptly cancelling all upcoming engagements with Klaus, we'll know.
@@herbiecactus6687 :-D
Maybe if he actually did, he would try to keep it discreet? Maybe he's just being polite. That depends on whether he usually smiles at others. Or maybe they were discussing about his performance and he's proud of him?
Also near the end, Daniel smiles too at Klaus.
Also, you can see them performing a brahms violin concerto together one year ago. He smiles at Daniel just like this. And so does Daniel. They did several other concerts since 2020. They did smile at each other. They know each other since at least 2018. They're probably just great friends.
I have a crush on Daniel so yk

Hmmmm....well....
❤❤
I guarantee you any of the cellist in the section could play better than the soloist
Violin
пили, пили
Not to standard, sound was thin and unconvincing…hard pass.
клаус,не играй лучше)) Это не больше чем баловство
Mäkelä is a great conductor, but as a cellist he should not play as a soloist with orchestra
Why? Is there a rule book about that?!
@@hoolala35 would he have gotten that opportunity if he wasn't a famous conductor?
@@KraftNikol so???
The fact is he got it
This is ridiculous
@@KraftNikol :)
I never thought I would see the day that Makela was worse at something than he is conducting...
christ
Klaus lost some weight and looks more boyish here. Plus the natural tousled hair makes him look quite hot.
man
I totally agree :)
Btw have you watched his very recent brahms symphony no 1 performance?
wtf 😢
@@hanswurst6873 you're not happy he's hot? you prefer the porky look when he was with Yuja?
Horrible amateurs.
I disagree. Lozakovich is the real deal. Just give him a decade and he’ll be at his prime artistically as well as technically.
