Wow, I have lots of vids to look back at, only 2nd day after finding your site. Your father-in-law built the buildings, I am impressed. You have a hobby buddy that's related and enjoys it, great. Please say hi to your family for me; I have had HO model trains since the 50's and have had endless hours of enjoyment. My best to you all. Old man in OR.
Great to see you making progress at your father-in-laws place. This gives you a continuous run option to break in your locomotive and just kick back and watch some trains run. It is nice to see the trains smoothly snaking around the curves. I look forward to following the progress on the layout.-Tom
Hi John, this looks a nice size layout. Curves. I,ll keep an eye on the Progress. Enjoying the Small layout big ideas program on catch up. Its on too late live over here in W Yorkshire. Love your layout and you seem a Decent Man your self. Keep Posting Videos &keep Well .Cheers Grant .
Thanks Grant. I am happy to hear you are enjoying the series over at MRL. My father in laws layout is coming along very well. We are way overdo for an update. I should be able to film one soon. Thanks so much for the comment! All the best, John
John, You and your Father in law have come up with a nice layout plan. It will be great to see this come about as you update the progress. I really like how you made the cantilever supports on the curves while using square bench work. The fun you both will have now will take your relationship to a new level.. great stuff.
Hahahahaha that’s awesome Mark lol it will for sure be fun. I’m waiting to see how those Walthers machines work for you to decide on the turnout machines. I hear great things about them.
I am working on some plans for a second layout. It is exciting, I have to get rid of the pool table to make room it will feature standard guage and O Guage.
Looks like lots of fun! I’m excited to see y’all’s progress. To be honest, I’ve been thinking about building a layout with a continuous run and mountain scenery. After 4 industrial switching layouts, I’m a little burned out on those!
Hi John. Awesome new layout. Lots of potential for some awesome scenery. Keep posting update of the build as you guys progress. Good idea to keep the pool table👍👍👍
So cool that you and your Dad-in-law are doing this. Here is an idea that would be neat is if he puts in a small staging area, moving those cars back n forth between yalls layouts. I do not know of anyone who does that. This layout is off to a great start! - Jason
Awesome layout! One cool thing you guys could do is run one loop on DC and the other one dcc like we do at the West Plains Model Railroad Club that way if you have any old DC locomotives that you don't want to convert to dcc, you can still run them, just a suggestion though! Also subbed to your channel too!
@@RailserveJohn that's cool! In case your wondering, the way the club has theirs setup is the outside loop is dc and the inner loop is dcc! Both myself and the club have videos of it in operation from past displays. If you guys get a chance check them out sometime or if your in the West Plains, MO area in October or December, come by and see it in person along with the club's O and S scale layouts!
Thanks Brady. We will most likely model the Chessie. The SD40s are mine but I gave him the Dash 9. He hasn’t owned trains since he was a kid and is amazed on how smooth things run today lol
That looks like a great layout for you to share with you Father in law, and one where scenery could be quite dramatic! looking forward to seeing it com together! Any plans for an interchange or staging/fiddle yard?
Thanks John... It will be a lot of fun. We will have an interchange track/yard. Although as the layout progresses he is thinking of expanding already...
back part covered by a mountain. hope he does a peek a boo section, in a tunnel, out a tunnel and then right back into the next tunnel nice project for you, LOL, we talk about getting kids into the hobby, you found yourself a big kid.
Lol monster fuels the progress! For now we are running DC but in the near future we will set up DCC. I am going to show him the different systems and let him decide. But we are leaning toward NCE since that is what I use at home.
@@RailserveJohn well i dont have any c&o that i am willing to sell but i have some other stuff i am selling if you want to give me your email address ore i can give you mine but i might be selling some csx locomotives

Thank you! Yes he is in construction so the benchwork was a breeze for him lol
I bet your FIL came to your place and saw your layout and immediately wanted one for himself lol. Great stuff and a good way to bond with the in-laws.
lol yes He has enjoyed my layout at home for sure
Is the railroad called... wait for it... Behind the 8 Ball? Hahahahaha hahahaha. I’ll see myself out. Love the layout. Can’t wait to see the progress.

Nice video.Subscribed to your channel, go to me and return the subscription watching, if you want, my videos, thanks.A big greeting.
Awesome! The two of you are going to have so much fun building that together. Looking forward to further progress on it.
Thanks Sean... It is coming together faster than expected! lol
Way to bond and bring the family closer. Only thing that would make it better is some chessie system😁
Chessie is coming!
Awesome job so far. Great to see trains running.....
Thanks! We were determined to get trains running quickly even if only one of the main lines.

Thanks Randall! I appreciate the sub.. We are thinking of doing that with one track having the option for DC.

This is going to be a great layout with two big industries in regards to the Coal and Cement. Can't wait to see what you guys plan next!
Thanks! We are having a great time!
Really like what you’ve done here....and your plans moving forward
Thank You!
Looking good John. Can't wait to see the progress on this project. Having fun with it is the most important aspect.
Thanks Tom! Absolutely! We are having a lot of fun...
I like the bending look of the tracks
this is great! looking forward to the building process and steps, i am sure i can learn a lot just as i did from your other videos!
Thanks! we will do our best to document as much as possible on the progress.
Looks nice can’t wait to see how scenery comes out. Now is he modeling NS or some other railroad?
Thanks Brady. We will most likely model the Chessie. The SD40s are mine but I gave him the Dash 9. He hasn’t owned trains since he was a kid and is amazed on how smooth things run today lol
Ok thanks, can’t wait to see the layout finished and hopping to see some Chessie power soon.
This is awesome 👏 I’m gonna try and replicate something similar to this for my future layout
Awesome! Thanks for watching
I was thinking the same! Great start!
What are the track curves size thank you
The minimum is 24” and the widest is I believe 30”
Caught the bud and having fun....love it! I think many us can relate. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! We are having a blast!
Great layout! The fact that you're doing it with your father-in-law is even better!
Thanks John!
Hi Just found your channel your In-laws layout is looking good so far i have subscribed look froward to more on this layout.
Exeter Central thank you for watching! We will be posting our progress. All the best, John

Thank You! yes I love that loco... It was the first time running it
I hope you document this build I'm curious to see the progress.
We plan on posting progress. Thanks for watching
Looks like a fun build John. It’s going to be a fun project to keep up one. Best wishes. Steve A
Thanks Steve! We are having a blast. And I think have spent more time watching trains go around than building lol
back part covered by a mountain. hope he does a peek a boo section, in a tunnel, out a tunnel and then right back into the next tunnel
nice project for you, LOL, we talk about getting kids into the hobby, you found yourself a big kid.
Lol yes he is as excited as one lol. The covered section will be pretty small. But we are trying to fit in as many fun scenery aspects as we can.
Great job your layout looks great, you are well on your way!
a fun project. thats always great
Hey John. I think you and your father-in-law will have a great time . Good concept some of the best of both types of layouts. Have fun.
Thanks John! It will be a great layout for sure
Lookin good, what are the dimensions of the layout?
Thanks. The main section is 5x9 and the side section is another 9 feet
Nice fun layout,
Awesome to see the start of a new layout! Have you contemplated superelevating the curves for a more dramatic running effect?
We might... we are keeping the build pretty simple but it would look cool!
Yeah ive added super elevation to my curves and love it.
Hi John was just wondering how the layouts coming?
Hi John. We have made some good progress and will have another update out shortly. Thanks for the comment, John
Hi John, couple cans of monster there?? So, what kind of system is powering the layout? NCE or something else?
Lol monster fuels the progress! For now we are running DC but in the near future we will set up DCC. I am going to show him the different systems and let him decide. But we are leaning toward NCE since that is what I use at home.
@@RailserveJohn Ever try using Digitrax? They have that at the club I go to.
What are the dimensions? Looks like just the right size .
Thanks! The main table is 5x9 and the side loop is about 8 feet long. We have a 24 inch minimum radius.
Nice!
Is he in to passenger trains and what railroad does he model
Well he is just starting out but as a kid he enjoyed the Chessie. so we will most likely do alot of C&O and whatever else he decides to buy.
@@RailserveJohn well i dont have any c&o that i am willing to sell but i have some other stuff i am selling if you want to give me your email address ore i can give you mine but i might be selling some csx locomotives
this is going to be cool, gives you another creative outlet and a chance to try new things with more space.
Absolutely Rob! We are having fun planning everything out. Thanks for watching
Wow, looking forward to this!
Looks like he's having fun, John. What size curves?
He sure is Brandon... we have a min radius of 22 inches. It seems to be taking 6 axle locos with no issues
John..........what's your FB?
Sorry Pete I never started a Facebook. UA-cam is my only social media.
@@RailserveJohn you might be lucky on that. Maybe I shouldn't have one. Lol
Nice!
