Reading all these comments by younger kids makes me all mushy. I remember watching this video a lot in 10th grade, dreaming of coming to UChicago.

Hello! My name is Leona, and I am 12 years old. I was determined to go to an Ivy League school because my cousin went to Yale and is now a doctor.
I used to want to go to Yale, but then I found this college!
I want to attend University of Chicago very badly. I want to major in Epidemiology, and I know that I can't get accepted into University of Chicago unless I try really hard. So, what my mom, dad, and I do is buy some workbooks from the store and study really hard every Saturday and days off of school.
Hopefully I will attend there in the near future!

Don't simply study to go to university. College is a tool for you to blossom. The best way to get into a good college is to focus solely on what you like.

Sounds great, I'm a senior applying their right now, make sure to challenge yourself not only in school but with a bunch of activities. Also BE CREATIVE the university loves a diverse range of personalities. GOOD LUCK!
Make sure to have fun in high school too yo. High school is also about having fun experiences, just find a balance.
alicia parra quick tip as someone who was just accepted a couple months ago and will be attending this fall, make sure to kill the essays! honestly i would say if you can write an extremely unique essay then it could easily make up for a less than average (by UChicago standards) gpa or sat score

Yes we are! We are also part of the UAA, the University Athletic Association, comprised of eight universities committed to both athletic and academic excellence.
Just received my acceptance to get my Masters in social work here this fall and I could not be more excited.
This school is a success because of inclusion, engagement, and achievement by students. My junior college is the same way.

I didn't know that this was one of the best schools to go to and I've been getting TONS of letters from them and they've sent me loads of letters as i am a junior in high school. Wow that's so cool. University of Washington is where i really wanna go but this seems like a good choice too
It's in a great location and chicago is a beautiful city, and the campus is beautiful
Brilliant University. Probably the best if (like me) you want to double major in math and eco. Its placed in the top three math and eco grad and undergrad rankings most of the time (1 in eco more often than not) as well as the top business school (economist and businessweek) and is a top 5 Physics and Law school as well. In physics you also get Fermi Lab and Aggrone right in your backyard. It boasts the most nobel prizes and fields medals as well as fullbright and rhodes scholars.
I'm In 5 clubs(president of one), and by senior year I would have taken 6 AP classes(plus jazz band, band and chorale), end in top 15% of my class with a 3.88 GPA and I have a passion for astronomy. Even with those stats, I feel I have a 2% chance of getting in....make that 1%. This school is crazy hard to get into, but it's so awesome.
Who should study there then? Aliens?
I think the admission does not depend on GPA only. They consider work experience, academic records and passion. More than thousands of students attend this university, who you think they are, aliens again?

I am from Europe and finishing high school this year, but since I am from Europe and from Eastern Europe (poorer countries) I don't really understand what do I need to get accepted or whatever, to this University? What is GDA, what is ACT & SAT Composite? How much does going here cost? Etc.

Hell yeah I'm accepting! The only other places I applied were Harvard regular (a very slim chance for anyone), Cornell regular (probably got in) and Northwestern's HSME (probably didn't get in). Chicago was my top choice, and I got into University Scholars, so I can afford, so I'm going to UChicago for sure. I'm planning to major in Biological Chemistry, and I want to join the Big Problem interdisciplinary program.

My father went to Northwestern. Northwestern's Econ Department tends toward the Freshwater side as well. Northwestern is simply less political. University of Chicago is noted for its conservatism.

I'm from the Chicagoland area (Aurora to exact, if any of you know where I'm talking about) but I was forced to move to Phoenix AZ last year. I'm a junior in high school now and am thinking of applying here. It seems great and I really really miss it over there. I miss my home.

Interesting. I've heard the same thing about students being worked to death. Of course, the type of students who look into UChicago often are looking for some level of academic rigor. Do you have anything to say about the student body (I know they like to advertise as being quirky intellectuals, I can see that as getting old fast...)? What midwestern university would you suggest as a better alternative?
This is my dream school! I have wanted to attend UChicago since I was about 10. I'm 14 years old and I'm wondering what I can do to get in? I'm already taking all honors classes at my high school, and doing BusinessTrack. I hope to major in business. Any thoughts?

We have a holistic reading process here, meaning that we take a student's entire story into account when reading their application. Regarding the transcript, we look for students who have challenged themselves consistently throughout high school and been able to handle the challenge reasonably well.

En 1988 realicé una pequeña escala en la Universidad de Chicago para realizar un doctorado en Economía. Fue una experiencia muy interesante. Tuve un roommate cuerísimo, católico como yo (íbamos a la iglesia todos los domingos y nos agarrábamos de la mano en el Padre Nuestro y me dieron tres ataques cardiacos), se llama Bernie, es descendiente de polacos. Tiene un piernón loco y es muy hacendoso, el era quien realizaba todas las tareas del hogar. El es nativo de Michigan.
También tuve experiencias desagradables como conocer el terrible y desagradable racismo que existe en los Estados Unidos.
Ahí conocí al Dr. Robert E. Lucas III, en aquel entonces Director del Departamento de Economía. Me dio pocas clases, pero pude notar que su modelo de expectativas racionales por el que recibió el Premio Nobel de Economía tiene varios errores matemáticos. El fue quien me presentó a Margaret Thatcher, porque en aquel entonces era su asesor.
En Chicago me di cuenta que en los Doctorados, la mayor parte de los estudiantes son de países en vías en desarrollo y en la Maestría de Administración y Negocios la mayor parte de los alumnos son norteamericanos

I am an academic physician so my knowledge is limited in this area.
I would assume that writing and communication skills would be important. May want to focus on liberal arts in college and go for MBA after college.

Does anyone know what ACT score and GPA this university requirers?...and can someone tell me if they have a good history major?
The website says there's no requirement - but most students have a 3.8 or 3.5 gpa and around a 28 for ACT.
Alien Mohawk Noooo, that's way too low. Average ACT is 33.5 with a middle 50% range of 32 to 35.

Hey, does anybody attend here? Can you tell me what you did to get here such as what your gpa was, SAT score if yall don't mind & if you took the ACT, & extra curriculum activities like volunteering & other stuff, I really want to go to this school and I've been receiving letters from them since sophomore year, also was send a letter of attending the Graham summer program, but I won't be doing it due to the lack of money, thanks
