- At PAX West 2024 last weekend, I met with Square Enix to get a sneak preview of some of their upcoming JRPGs, and the first one I want to talk about is Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake! This game already looked incredible, but my hands-on with it further solidified its potential for all-time classic status. I will never get tired of HD-2D graphics. If RPGs are made with this style from now until the end of time, I will be a happy man.

huge DQ fan here, i’ve finished them all (with the exception of DQX, although i’m currently playing X offline version) and i’m SUPER stoked for this version of 3! can’t wait. day 1 purchase.
My first official JRPG was Dragon Warrior 1. Over the years of the NES I played and owned as a kid all of these 4 games, except 3. Somehow I didnt have a chance to play the third game until well after the 4th came out but I remember it taking a long time to beat and I had to rent it extensively to play through it. I cant wait to see all theyve done with this game and im really happy Square Enix has decided to re-enliven the classic releases this way. PAX looked like it was a blast, thanks Brandon!

This 2D HD art style is so appealing. I hope to see lots more games in this style.
The monster fighting was a nice easy way to earn gold fast, but if they made it a pokemon mini game, that is a big turnoff...I believe that part was optional if I recall.
Really looking forward to this game, everything about this so far looks like a faithful upgrade of the original.

I hate that I'm one of those people that hate trendy internet lingo. The first one to bother me was when everyone in their videos would say "but I digress". There are more, but the one I'm noticing the most now is in the form of "fans of such and such will be eating well." I don't know why it bugs me, it just does. Anyway, good video :)

I’ve played DQIII so many times.. from the NES to the GB Color to that horrible Mobile port. I can’t wait, this looks like THE version to play.

I've never encountered someone who thought that the DQ english accent thing was charming before
I'm not a fan of the 2DHD style. Didn't like it on live a life and I hated that triangle hideous thing of a game.
But I'm at a point in my life (@44) where the reality that I never get to be old enough to play all the series and games I like, so I'm not that sad about it.
I did like the demo of DQ XI S, but waited to long to purchase it afterwards. I was too out of it, so i never got further then the 10 hours of the demo. 😢 I have to restart it. Any day now.... aaaaaany day.
Agree on the monster/creature capturing stuff. Never liked this in any game, it's just busywork and not for me.
For me HD-2D is the BEST style in the world... but I still think that octopath I and II are WAY better looking than this. Also, this looks too much 3D
tbh I barely played DQ3 either. It was SNES remake via emulator, I died 1st dungeon, party got absolutely destroyed 💀
