    I use coconut oil everyday for the past week now for my cuticles and my nails are growing the fastest they ever have before. I'm learning more and more about nail care everyday, can't wait to get super long nails
    edit: idk why I cared about my nails so much 3 years ago.

      SAME , but i wasted 1/4 cup of coconut oil and mixed it with other oils for my nails, but i didnt think and i was so stupid to not realise it hardens at room temperature :P I just purchased jojoba oil and mix it with extra virgin olive oil and massage it into my nails, :D

      Olive oil totally works wonders as well, you should try putting it on your nails overnight, it totally works because it is very easily absorbed by skin and it keeps your cuticles moisturised (coconut oil does the same but it takes time for skin to absorb it)

    great tips! cuticles are actually dead skin and tissue on your nail which can be removed with cuticle remover or pushed back if not they may cause hang nails...the skin around your nails that everyone calls the cuticle is actually called the eponychium that's the part you are talking about babying and you are completely right! oil is awesome! 😉

  • @shutupmacey

    The 'cuticle' you're talking about is actually the eponychium. The cuticle is the white 'fluffy' stuff that comes off when you scratch around the eponychium. The cuticle holds the lateral and proximal folds over the matrix.

      Macey Dickinson I always call my eponychium my cuticle it'd just out of habit I say it because I'm so used to it but my bliss kiss told me it's the eponychium not cuticle it can be confusing to people.

    Found that you're never too old to learn something new. Wore fake nails for years, but when they needed a rest, they were weaker and uglier than when I first began. Now that I'm retired (for years) and can't afford to go to a shop; just trying to get them to even a short length is a problem. They break, split and get hangnails constantly. Try not to use polish because I thought that was the reason for all the damage. Good to see your video and will gather your recommendations, try it and will let you know the outcome. Wish me luck! I'm so excited but will use patience while they grow. 77-years and counting.

    @7:34 -Thanks for the video; your nails are gorgeous. I just have one question: where can I pick up this _patience_ you speak of? Does Walmart carry it? Do I order it online? Do you have a coupon code? I've heard many nail vloggers say I need patience, but they never say where to find it. I even asked God for some, and He actually told me that He was fresh out.

    I have tried everything to get my brittle nails strong. Then one day I had to get blood work drawn and my vitamin d3 levels were extremely low. So my dr recommened I take vitamin d3 with k2 10,000IU 5x a week for a month then cut down to 5,000IU. Now not even 3 weeks later my nails are longer and stronger!! Also my dr said most women are deficient in Vitamin D. Xoxo

    For me is different. My mom is a nail technician and she does cut my cuticles. If you’re not professional then I wouldn’t recommend it because you can bleed and have an infection. I also buff my nails and my nails are healthy long and doesn’t break as much as I didn’t buff before. Some people are different. Find a perfect routine :))

    I use an old clean nail polish bottle put olive oil and smashed/diced garlic inside leave it for a couple hours to fuse the garlic with the oil. I use it at least 2 times a day. I have always been a nail biter but ever since I used this method my nails have grown way past than I ever thought possible for me. It didn’t only help my nails but it helped the skin around my nails to heal from bitten nails.

    Thanks for this, it's very helpful. I don't even want long nails, in fact they grow so fast I'm always filing them, but I'm fed up with so called professional manicures. They always hurt me and after they make my nails split. I tell them not to use that horrible buffer, but they love that thing! I'm so glad you said not to use it. I'm trying to learn how to do it myself, but the big challenge is getting the polish on right. I'm now ordering the glass files, thanks for that information. I saw that emery boards were not good, but didn't know what else to use. Thank you again! BTW, that's the slowest website I've ever seen.

    Oh my God, the bit about the glass file from the czech republic made me laugh!!! Because last summer I went on a trip with my mom and my younger brother -- he was playing in an orchaestra tour of sorts around the Austria, Germany area and we stayed in Prague for a couple nights. In the hotel gift shop, they were sell glass nail files and I bought one because I didn't bring mine from home and OH MY GOD IT'S THE BEST THING EVER. It smiles so smoothly and precisely, unlike the one I got from bed bath and beyond.

    Hello great video I've watched a few videos on to grow your nails and your video was very simple. I do have a few questions like for the cuticles is olive oil okay? Also, what's your views on gel polish?

    • @SMARTERBEAUTY
      @SMARTERBEAUTY  7 років тому +5

      If you want to you can try it and see if it works for you. I find regular olive oil is too greasy and just sits on the surface of the skin. Coconut oil feels light and not greasy and absorbs really nicely! But it's your choice! I won't go get my nails done at a salon and get the "gel" ..I just find it's really damaging over time especially if you want to remove it! But there's a lot of brands coming out with "gel like" polish where it's like a regular nail polish so you can remove it easily but has the high shine look of gel and I prefer to use those instead :)

    For me, I use Beauty Secrets nail hardener which you can find at Sally's. The nail file I use is also Beauty Secrets. It's a $.99 cent file medium 100/180 grit which you can also get at Sally's. As for a moisturizer, I use Cerave Moisturizing Cream. As of now, I have 5 short nails and 5 long ones. Hopefully, I can get all of my nails long.

    • @violetviolet888
      @violetviolet888 2 роки тому

      mackenzie2184, you should never use a grit less than 240 on natural nails. The best is a real crystal glass nail file. 100/180 is for artificial nails, too coarse for natural nails.

    Just as a Reminder there is nothing WRONG with having yellow or discolored nails. It's going to happen! Nail polish can stain your nails and I wear polish ALL the time! Jess I've always thought that you have had the most beautiful nails. I like for my nails to be longer, but usually the sport length is better for me even though I would rather them be longer. Just recently I've been dealing with low iron deficient anemia and been trying to build my blood back up. It was causing my hair, my eyelashes, my nails got awful and I was always so sleepy and tired....but I'm finally doing better! The most important thing is my nails have always had ridges in them, but it's my thumb nails. A couple more have them slightly. Which with ridges it seems as though my nails grow turning down slightly at the tips. I really don't know much I can do about my Thumb nails. What do you think? Have you seen this before? I have been told maybe it's due to low oxygen or a vitamin deficiency. Anyway, I will see ya next time and thanks for this video. xo

    Rubbing garlic and lemon on my nails has always worked for me personally I think everybody should try it as well as olive oil because it's so easily absorbed and whenever I put it on overnight, my hands are never greasy when I wake up the next morning and I've also noticed so much growth. Plus that buffing thing, OH MY GOD! I cringe so hard, nobody should make their nails go through anything like that😭

    I love all your tips. Please help me. I am coming out of sculptured nails, gel nails, and powder nails. They've ruined my nails I have cloudy marks all over my nails and they are weak. I need help in the way of where do I go from here? There are so many videos on how to grow your nails out how to protect your nails etc. I am looking for a beginning middle and end video to help me without throwing in all kinds of product, I just want to know how do I get my nails back to a healthy growth.

    Can you mix the oils? Like Argan and Coconut to get good results?

    • @SMARTERBEAUTY

      You can try that yes! idk how it would work though coconut oil tends to harden when the temp is colder

    I'm watching this video again I've taken off my acrylics I want to grow my own nails again they used to be so long in 2012 now there horrible I am not sure where to get cold pressed coconut oil and I can never file my nails one way it feels so weird to me I don't know what base coat to get I live in Australia I used to buff my nails too I have a problem with peeling nails. I follow you on snapchat insragram and Facebook I'll be saving your other photo also. I can't believe you nails where so short now look at them there beautiful!

      You can usually find coconut oil at a grocery story or even drugstore. Is there a Priceline in your area? Because I see that they sell coconut oil. There's a LOT of products out there and by no means do you have to use the products that I use. If it's uncomfortable you don't have to file your nails like I do, it just works for me personally! Good luck!

    It's not as easy to file in one direction if your nails are round instead of square shaped. How long would you say i have to wait until i start to see long nails?

    • @SMARTERBEAUTY
      @SMARTERBEAUTY  7 років тому

      I've had almond and oval nails and I don't find it difficult to file in one direction I find it easier actually! Just take your time! Growth with be different for everyone, nails typically grow 2 to 3 mm a month. So it does take time and patience!

      whatever works for you hun! You can always mix different oils and make your own cuticle oil! Just we aware that coconut oil will harden in cooler temperatures.

    Ik a lot of people say not to buff our nails and ik it's bad and damaging but what other choice do i have when my nails peel (trust they do it A LOT and i had to cut them painfully short because of the peeling) it's either buff the peeled area or just peel it and end up with a bigger damaged part of my nail😢😢

    You need only one Item, Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat from QVC or eBay. Can be used as your base coat also. Brightens nails.& doesn’t turn them yellow.

    Can you do a video showing how to apply Seche Vite correctly? I cannot figure out how to apply it correctly around the cuticles. When I apply it, it seems like I am applying it evenly. However, when it dries, I can see where it shrunk and makes my polish look uneven around the sides and mainly at the base of the cuticle.

    • @SMARTERBEAUTY
      @SMARTERBEAUTY  7 років тому +1

      I just apply it like any normal top coat. I get what you mean though lol I have seen that happen as well! I just try to apply a thin even coat. When you apply too much I notice that it does that. I hope that helps a bit! xx

    Your right.
    6 weeks ago I started growing my nails, I use garlic and cuticle oil plus a hard as hooves to.
    Plus I use vitamin E about every few days.
    But I have a file glass to, and I don't buff my nails, except on the edges when I feel something is not right.
    My nails are over half an inch long and I just broke one off a week and a half ago.
    I don't cut all mine off because it will grow back fully in a month.
    I don't like them really long nails.
    They look like witch nails ewe.
    But I like your size and mine.
    I seen one person with 15 foot nails tome that's ridiculous.
    You can't even go to the bathroom and take care of their self ewe.
    Some look pissed to.
    I just like long natural nails but not too long.
    I don't cut my cuticles at all I just push them back chatlee, and that's all it takes.
    Your right about putting the undercover coat at ends and under nails, because like you said it helps to percent snags.
    Hope to see more tutorials soon
    Keep up the good work and enjoy your nails.
