I came into bullet journaling in 2023 - didn’t even know it was a trend before. But I love it and I look forward to your videos as they inspire me and help me to be brave in my creativity. My drawing etc has really come on since I started watching them and it’s like creating with a friend. I like the pattern play and I’m trying to create my own patterns too!

For me, bullet-journaling is a creative hobby that isn't very practical for me because I don't use my journal to stay organized(my brain just isn't organized lol). But it is still useful because I do a little art in it every day, and to me, that is productivity and success.
I have tried bullet journaling in the past, and got discouraged because I had a hard time with measuring and got caught up in perfectionism. But I have been using your traceable print outs now and have just been doing this for fun! And it has been so much fun :) I love it!
Also, I love branching out and trying new things. Watercolor is where I started, but slowly introducing gouache, brush markers and hand lettering to my hobbies has really helped me to grow in creativity and has opened doors to try things I didn't think I could ever do and has brought so much joy and fulfillment to my life :)

I absolutely LOVE working in my bullet journal! I use it as a place to do my art on monthly cover pages. Like you, I use it as my weekly to do list. I also set a word for the year, and base my yearly goals based on my word. Then I break down my goals by the month and by the week and sometimes by the day. It motivates me every week and I feel like I can get things accomplished. I also use my journal to write favorite quotes and affirmations. I always decorate these with artwork - either with colored markers or watercolor. Please be encouraged to keep going! Your art is such an inspiration!

I love love love bullet journaling! I changed it up last year and went into a common place journal/planner and did the same this year but I am really missing the creativity of a BUJO.😢 I think I will grab your coloring pages and give them a shot in February’s spread in my Common Planner. The pages just aren’t right for true BUJO style. I also love to watch your watercolor, I love procreate and love to draw and compose art! I just started playing with some different styles as well with inspiration from my sons favorite Manga style books he loves at 27 lol. He is a teacher and has something in common with his students and that is awesome! Thanks Shayla for another great video!!

I am doing a much simpler bullet journal now. I used to do several elaborate pages. Now I do a two-page calendar, a to-do monthly page, and a bill payment page.
I still have my very first journal and my first page which was based on your UA-cam video - July 2018. You helped me start out, so thank you very much for that!
Last year I made an Excel calendar and just glued it in my journal. It was quite plain but I just didn't feel like fussing with it. This year, 2024, I drew in the calendar for Jan and printed out the calendar for Feb, then drew in the March and April calendars. So I am all over the place with it. Even so, I use my calendar every day, for appointments, weather notes, birthdays, and sweet times with my family. It has almost started to be a mini diary.

I love your style of bullet journaling. I have always been a calendar person for over 30 years. It gives me focus and helps me remember everything. I have to have pretty calendars and with my previous preprinted calendars I always used stickers, scrapbook paper, colorful pens and washi tape to decorate. This is my first bullet journal and now that I am retired I have more time to decorate. I like your easy to follow designs and even though I am not good at drawing I can create something beautiful to look at every day. I especially like the 2 week spread with the folded page to keep the task list there but looks cleaner. So glad to have started following you.

My target activity chart and water tracker with my “Line Dancing” section for doodling and art ideas.

It’s overwhelming to try to keep a lot of journals. I tried doing my own thing last year, but this year I got an A&O dated planner. Even as a retiree, I don’t take the time to write in my various journals of thoughts, artwork, dreams, etc. But I love my to-do lists, such satisfaction to mark things as done!

So relevant!! Haha... I actually just started bullet journaling this year after I learned about them from you! For me, it is a form of self care. Nothing helps me get out of my head like art. It is very much a mindful activity for me. Because it is a schedule and "due dates" to get things done by, it gives me accountability in that self care time. The actual schedule/list part of it is secondary to me. I like keeping track of things to be thankful for and seeing patterns in energy and habits. Thank you for the inspiration!

I have moved to having a theme for the month with little sketches throughout the month of the theme from the cover page. I love to see little drawings through out. Mostly I use my journal for tracking events and to do lists and I write a lot, like a daily writing journals. I also keep a smaller size journal for tracking the yearly stuff like weather, my cycle, book reading, etc. I love how versatile bullet journaling is! Thanks for the inspo

😃👍I love the variety of your contents, Shayda, and also the lovely personality of this channel and its owner! Funnily enough, I'm just starting proper journaling this year.😅Before, I just used cover pages as inspiration for my sketchbook, and kept a conventional journal. But I found I loved using my journal as a diary, and seeing the whole year at a glance later. I decided I wanted a mix of journal and diary where I could add images and art, to capture the spirit of each month and the things that inspired me throughout the year, if that makes sense... So here I am, creating my hybrid and using one of those pretty 160 gsm dotted journals at last! ☺️ Thank you for all the help and inspiration, Shayda!! 🙏 😃👍👏👏👏🥰

This year I almost abandoned a bujo style completely for a preprinted planner but after 2 weeks I went back. *But* this year I went much simpler. I love Bullet Journaling!! ♥️ I discovered Bullet Journaling because of you. Being that it’s a new year I decided to try using my
8 x 8 Archer and Olive bullet journal notebook and I love it so much because I’ve decided to really blow it up by adding lace on the edges of the paper and rhinestones, whatever sparks joy in my heart. I’m obsessed with junk journals and I have made 2 so far. I’m going to make one for my youngest daughter, a sage green with flowers for the hard cover. She loves creating art so I’m going to make a mixed media one for her with tags and tucks, white paper & coffee stained paper and avocado stained paper, which is a lovely shade of pink. 😊

@@ShaydaCampbell it’s so very pretty. I spent 3 days dying & drying printer paper. Drying in the oven is time consuming. I dyed over 70 sheets of paper with coffee (learned that you should add a little baking soda to neutralize the acid in the coffee), gel food coloring, and my new favorite avocado dye. 😊

    • @LovinDebsFit50s
      @LovinDebsFit50s 11 місяців тому

@@ShaydaCampbell it’s really easy to make the avocado dye, I even dyed some white lace that I’m going to use for journals, and also some linen. Just Scoop out the avocado 🥑 (eat & enjoy), wash the avocado peelings & clean the pit. You can break the peelings into smaller pieces, I used 2 avocados (4 skins), I cut the pit in half & into smaller chunks. The hardest part is cutting the avocado pit, you need to be very careful so that it doesn’t slip while cutting it. The pit reveals a beautiful yellow, pinkish color. You have to Be Very Very Careful Cutting the pit. I wouldn’t suggest having your hand on the pit, I pressed down on the knife handle using a flat hand.
I added 16 ounces of springwater to a sauce pan & added the peelings & the cut pit. I let it come to a good boil and just simmered it until I got a beautiful dark pink color, about an hour and a half on the stove simmering and sometimes I would just bring it to a boil and add a little more water if needed. Let it cool.
I applied the avocado dye to the paper with a chip type of paintbrush. I read that you can also refrigerate the dye for a couple of weeks to save it. You can also save your peelings and pits when you eat avocados by putting them in your freezer.
Also, when I made a 2nd batch of avocado dye I decided to try seeping the skins & pits again, and it came out perfect .

I found bullet journaling by accident when the company where I got my journals stopped making journals with blank page on the left and lined on the right which was perfect for me to draw and journal. I only did bujo for one year and opted to save time and return to pre-printed planners but I really miss the opportunity to be creative and really personalize my planner. In the time I have to draw/paint I would rather work in my sketchbook or on an actual piece. For my to do lists (I make a lot of those!) I like starting with a fresh little piece of paper each day and checking things off, sometimes they get messy with additions and changes, and then I like to rewrite them. That is what didn't work for me in a bullet journal, I hated messing up the pages.

I started bullet journaling in 2017 with a newborn. I had planned to use it as a creative outlet but I just didn't have the time. So mine has always been more of a brain dump- to do lists, yearly goals, monthly goals, water tracker. I don't think I've ever drawn more than a birthday cake in there. To answer your question about whether people are still using bujos, I know I sure am. I’m not as creative as I was previously as life has ramped back up (I used to do watercolor spreads) but I’ve come to realize I need a book with various functions: occasional journal, weekly spreads, daily gratitude journal, reading tracker, and daily habit trackers. Last year I did something I loved by sticking to the same quick setup and embellishing with season/holiday appropriate ephemera. Made it easy to set up, be consistent and enjoy the process. I think we as a group of creatives learning to hone down to the layouts that work for us as individuals.

I still bujo because I can not find a planner that I like. Most months I just have a cover, calendar, and weekly pages. If we are traveling I will have more. If I need holiday lists, those months will have more. But, yes, it is pretty simple these days. The most odd about mine is they run from June to May every year. We homeschool, and I like my planner to go along with our homeschool planner. It just works better for us.

I do keep a bullet journal, because I learned about it a year ago from one of your videos. I don't know why they call it a bullet journal... do you know?
I also use mine as an art repository, of sketches, ideas and references that I want to develop. It's come in handy several times. Also keeps me sane because my domestic house is also a sick home, basically, for my fully disabled husband. His care involves distraction, noise and frustration, so my journal is my one private place in which my mind can relax.
Thank you for your videos, I love them.🎉

Just went on down a bit of a googling rabbit hole on the origins of bullet journals 🤣 It turns out it is named for the use of bullet points to log info, but partially for the dot grid notebooks as well.

@ShaydaCampbell Thank you! I thought that might be it. Wanted to mention, mine has evolved into a giant to-do list as well. It came in handy when summarizing end of year for cards, etc. Great thing! Art is wonderful. 🎉

I'm astill bulletjournalling. Buyt my bullet journal is super practical. From back to forth I have my diary/scrapbooking and from front to back I have my Agenda. I have a month on 2 pages like this
notes/ mon/tue/wed/thur/fri/weekend and then under those I have days. More like a real calendar . For me its a Todo list with all my appointments and work things I need to do. ( As someone with ADHD its very nice to have a full vieuw of upcoming events and things I need done cut in small tasks.
The way you do it, is very pleasing to the eye but I find it wastefull on paper and doing spreads like that, doesnt work for me.
That being said, I do love to watch these kind of video´s, especially if I´m working on my Bullet journal myself, and everyone has their own way of using a Journal like this, and that´s good, because the Bujo was invented to SERVE YOU!

I didn't see a lot of your previously produced and edited videos, but I know I love real time, minimal editing, mistakes and all. That's life, right? Rolling with the real stuff.
I tell students at school, life isn't about not making mistakes, everyone makes mistakes, especially in school. The trick is learning from our mistakes. I tell them adults still make mistakes, lots of them, we just have more practice handling them gracefully so they look less embarrassing.

Do I love watching creative videos like these, for entertainment value? Absolutely😍. Super cute! But do I actually find them useful for my own bullet journal? No, because I use original creator Ryder Carol’s version, which I started using from my second bullet journal onwards…

I received a journal when we were shut down. I used it for about two weeks. I enjoy making the journals but I don’t want to use them. I guess I don’t write things down.

He tries to negotiate some time. So his brain is growing in reasoning skills. And your parental response taught him he doesn't get everything he tries to negotiate for and parents hold the controls to growth decisions.
It all sounds developmentally perfect to me!

for me, I need the act of writing things out multiple times to remember and get them done. Using a phone or computer to plan and take notes doesn’t help me remember things. Bullet journaling is the only thing that has worked for me and I’ve stuck to it for years.

This is my 5th year of bullet journaling and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon. Bujo helps me with my everyday life with my ADD/ADHD. I can also track my mental health doing bujo, Bullet journaling improves my daily life so much so I don't know what would I do without it! And it is so fun doing it too! I can make it look the way I want and change it if I don't like something. I wouldn't be able to do that with normal or digital calendar, I would just forget they're exist as I did before bullet journaling.
My life was so chaotic before I discovered bujo. I had so many post-it notes all around and everything was really hard to remember and I had so many apps to help me, but they didn't help because all things I needed wasn't in the same place or app, My ADHD brain couldn't handle all of this chaos. So the short answer to your question: Bullet journaling is still relevant, at least to me!
(Btw I'm sorry if my English is bad. I'm from Finland and English is not my first language. I hope you understood what I tried to say)

Well, as a new veiwer, I watched all the way through the video and I have to say: the title was pretty misleading. I probably wouldve enjoyed this video more if I had come into it knowing that I would be listening to someone talk about art instead of actual bullet journaling. Dont get me wrong, I really like your art, but please dont put misleasing titles on videos. Eventually someone's going to search "bullet journal relevancy" or something similar and your video about creating February-themed art will come up.
