This song brings such sweet-bitter memories growing up in Kariobangi South in Nairobi as watched my mom, uncles, aunts, and family dance at family parties

Nazadanze, Your are 100% right, I remember marche Mama Mobutu na quartier Sud. We use to live in Camp-Redjaf, but we moved to Kinshasa in 1976. Ah nostalgie ya Matadi.
À part que ceux qui ont la main mise sur l'Afrique empêchent les africains d'évoluer dans d'autres domaines, on a pas pu nous voler notre culture musicale elle demeure intacte. Kessedou
This music bring back memories of how Free Town Sierra-Leone was sweet those days when i was in primary school when things were sweet and cheap, nothing like any stupid war. Those days when the sailors are back in town everywhere is music and fun, Congo-Town (zaire), Kroo town road, and other areas of Free Town. those were the days of properity and good life.
Where's our Bobi Radio transmission station,, in Gulu- Uganda? This is the rhythm that used to rock that station and keeping us awake as we prepare for exams, all night long. Hahaha.....
"Idedicate this song to all ex staffs of the defunct african safari club based at Bahari/silver beach hotels where we used to enjoy this music from a live band (Beach boys) at the coconut night club adj.to Tamarind restaurant with some cold tuskers and nyama choma! The glory 70´s! Regards,T.Melle,A.Lwambi.H.Mwachiro H.Sangoyani T.Mwadime,Cheerus from Germany.
I met the actual Lola being sung about in this song. I was playing the song, and she shyly stated that it was her Nyboma was singing about. Sadly, she passed away some years ago in the US where she had moved to.
THIS SONG REMINDS ME OF MY DAYS AT FORM SIX AT ST PATRICKS HIGHSCHOOL ,ITEN WHEN EACH SATO WE WOULD DANCE TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS OF THE EXAMS AHEAD ,IT HAS REFUSED TO FADE AWAY
Wow wow....i love this. I can just flashback and remember the mid eighties ....growing up at Kaledonia Slums....Nairobi......kweli watu hutoka mbali.....! can anyone help with a bit of translation please.........!
We all should get together and just jam on this music that reminds us so much of our childhood - life is too short - we should at least annually get together and just celebrate these great musicians that God put on earth - I mean - jus listening to this man ..... it is now 5'oclock in the morning and I have been listening to him all night!!!
Unlike most of you here, I have met the Lola who was the subject of this song. I played the song for her, and she fondly remembered this time... we asked her about the 5 men Nyboman accused her of giving her love to, and she just laughed...
This song reminds me of Mbarara High School Sun set at the lake where LAKE VIEW HOTEL stands now.It was being played by Serushago on Radio Rwanda almost every evening in the early 70s.We could listen on transistor radios and be happy school boys!!Gone are the days!!
Kinshasa was the most advanced town in art in the world. Why? Because the creativity of our artists had no match. No one played guitares with the mastery of Congolese. Nyboma was supposed to be a billionaire!
Yiep...maze this songs are way too sweet to listen to..... how i sometimes wish i was borm kidu 50yrs ago......! mwangi wa Kanyora.....hau niwaria ma munene...Kangemi ningeragira sometimes ngithie mashuguli. Nii di o haha nyairobi thikiriirie turwimbo tutu. Wiha mudu?
Very classical oddies of the time, high Quality but poor me cheated on their Music with very Little Money which should be millions like the Whites. though i did not see them but their Music. good God where ever they are if still alive Keep them safe , their Music will live with us always !!!
@Nazadanze Sabu "Pierre" is my big brother, he used to wear number 4. We lived close to the protestant church. I spoke with my brother two weeks ago, his in the military in Kinshasa as captain in Mbinza. Who are you? if you know vieux Sabu, then you should know me, because I played football where our parents used to play volley ball. I think you should know that little field too, It was close to where JF Nkoy used to practice.
Age mate though in 1978 was in form 3 Mbita high schools with akina Oscar Oluoch, abuto okwengu the late jaling obila okidi Benson, ayaga ogat, late john
@Nazadanze hey what's up? I was out last night and that's why I did not respond. Anyways, we use to live there, and my big brother use to play for JF Koy. Do you remember that team? they use to be brutal. I am in Chicago USA and where are you? drope me a few lines please.
@Rople65 you said Nyboma supposed to a billionaire, So why is he not a billionaire? He allow himself to be ripped-off or doesn't know the business side of music? The music industry is the most unregulated industry and their for one of the most rouged industry that's why artist are being cheated by their record companies especially for black artist and for African artist the worst you are not even taken seriously by western record companies. Michael Jackson spoke of this before he was killed for speaking out for black artists. All I can say in any profession that you are, please learn the business side of that industry, if not you will always be working for someone, I don't care how talented you are you would be make money for someone less talented than you because that person knows the business side of the GAME. There is more to the business side Music than just performance and this where most artist lack this why they are taken advantage off. signing bad contracts with record labels is killer for artists.Michael Jackson is the only black artist I can tell you that master the business side of music and Sony Records didn't like that that's why they came after him. Black mailing him for Child molestation when all fails they came after his life.NB: Please go to UA-cam and search "Michael Jackson lawyer's interview" you will find out that all those charges about child molestation where made-up.

Les decennies de la musique congolaise ,qui a domine la scene africaine a ete tres positif et enrichissant sur le plan culturel.
