Can Alexa work without an in-car or phone hotspot connection? Can Alexa work directly off your phone’s internet connection like the Echo Auto does? I’m reading conflicting reports mentioning that it needs an in-car hotspot/WiFi....but the Echo Auto doesn’t need such a thing & simply connects to your phone via Bluetooth & uses phone internet connection. Thanks.
As of 2020 July, Pioneer has three different types of access to Alexa for three different types of products. The connection type depends upon the in-dash receiver. If you want completely hands free operation and just say Alexa to start dialog, this is the Alexa built-in products like the ones seen here: ua-cam.com/video/Y-lL_eIB3Ug/v-deo.html In order to use Alexa with these receivers, a wi-fi hot spot or using your phone as a wi-fi hot spot is required. With this type of receiver, you'll also have voice command over many parts of the receiver through Alexa for example, changing the volume, and the music source, and the wi-fi connection is used for on screen updates and web browsing. The 2nd type is using your phone to access Alexa as seen here: ua-cam.com/video/SQNnFQvqKoY/v-deo.html You have to touch the screen to access Alexa. No wi-fi connection is required. @@deckerdotto6035 Hi there, hope you can help me with this question, I bought the dmhwt7600nex and I am having a hard time enabling Alexa on this receiver. I tried to connect and a message reads that I have to accept internet communication service terms of use and privacy policy! I dig into settings and I could not find nothing on the menu to accept the terms. Still Alexa is greyed out. I also connect my iphone to the hotspot it did not work either. Please help :)
Are you in the US? First, please understand, an account with Amazon is required to gain access to Alexa on your Pioneer receiver. This does not cost any money, but an Amazon account with a user name and password is required. 2nd, a Wi-Fi hot spot or using your phone as a Wi-Fi hot spot is required to communicate with Alexa. Next, I recommend to start over with the setup process on your Pioneer DMH-WT7600NEX. To start over, with the vehicle safely stopped and the parking brake engaged, touch the Settings gears, and then touch the screwdriver and wrench. Scroll down to Restore Settings, and Restore All Settings. After the system has restarted, go through the setup process from the beginning as shown in this video: ua-cam.com/video/CUrxfgBy2BM/v-deo.html Please take the time to watch the complete video. It shows great detail in setting up your receiver so it will work with Alexa.
