no shade to the others but you're literally one of the only channels that do these vids that don't just pick the same 10 musicals to talk about and I love that, absolutely impeccable taste my dude. (still, those 10 musicals are great lmao)
Including Patina Miller’s LIFE-CHANGING performance as the witch is so iconic. I saw that live over a year ago and am still processing the glory of it.
5:55 What’s heart breaking and a really good acting choice is how her voice shakes, and she flinches at the others touching her 8:05 holy shit that’s a powerful belt/note
holy SHIT. that "oh my friends, my FRIENDS, DON'T _ASK_ ME" and he turns and everyone melts away i'm FUCKING sobbing (also can i just say i really appreciate how he's actively leaning on and using his cane in that scene. most mariuses just kind of hold it but like..... my mans is incredibly injured please he needs that to walk)
ugh it's like these moments are pulled straight from my brain your taste in theater is amazing edit: i can confirm before the breakdown is a GREAT cry song
Just spent half an hour looking for this compilation cause I just played guitar for We Are the Tigers and remembered it was in a compilation that mentioned pre-Broadway A Strange Loop and gave a moment to our family friend who was in Holiday Inn and did the tap-dancing-jump-roping bit, and it was so worth it this is still the best "musical theatre moments that" compilation on UA-cam
Omg in the next video you have to include the part of POTO where Christine, Erik and Raoul all sing different lyrics all at the same time and making it seem like a real argument between the 3 of them.
I’ve never seen that tap number or heard of Holiday Inn (?, don’t know if that’s the name), but I love it! The only one I’d even call better than that is King of New York from Newsies. Jump roping AND tap dancing?!?! Amazing, beautiful, wonderful, fun. I love watching actors jumping around while tap dancing, I think it adds to the reasoning behind the tap dancing in the world of the musical, and makes it look less out of the blue.
COMPLETELY agree about larry owens... i saw him sing being alive 2 years ago and i think about it literally every day... no other performance of that song has lived up to my memory of larry singing it
*ahem* As someone who taps, in the Holiday Inn number, I happened to notice that those ladies are not only tapping while jump roping, but they are doing that in HEELED TAPS. They’re like, 1 inch, but STILL, GOD DAMN! Mad respect!
i legit GASPED when i saw the tap number while jumping rope! i've been tapping for almost my whole life that shit is HARD enough as is but throw in the goddam rope i'm LOSING IT those women are QUEENS
cannot stress how much i would love you to include the west end staged concert version of empty chairs...i've listened to it an unhealthy amount his voice is PERFECT for marius
as someone who tried to learn tap (and failed miserably) the tap number WHILE JUMPING ROPE?>!?!?!?! made me cry actual tears of no talent because i couldn't even imagine
Our local theater is doing Holiday Inn and somehow they're doing the tap/jump rope number i almost auditioned but was having some issues with the director, so I didn't sadly.
I prefer the version of sixteen going on seventeen from the original movie rather than the live version just becasue the difference of ages makes it look kinda weird, but don't get me wrong the choreo... chefs kiss
I liked Empty chairs at empty tables a normal amount, but then I saw the choreography with the candles and that song now owns my life
And when it’s sung by Chris Mccarrell... even better
@@hollyludvigsen6763 honestly, I fell in love with the Andy Mientus version, but Chris is a close second
@@hollyludvigsen6763 I saw him as Marius. Literally life changing. I cry every time
I loved the old ghost walk. But the candles destroy me everytime 💔
@@hollyludvigsen6763 lets be honest, chris mccarrell is the best marius.
Starting off with chris mccarrell empty chairs..... I see you have chosen violence
UGH. THE CANDLESSSSSSS. The staging in this song gets me every tiiiiiiiiime
As someone who has seen Eva in Hadestown, I can confirm that the power she holds is unbelievable
She’s so insane
We have the same pfp except ur goose has no feet
no shade to the others but you're literally one of the only channels that do these vids that don't just pick the same 10 musicals to talk about and I love that, absolutely impeccable taste my dude. (still, those 10 musicals are great lmao)
‘okay funky lil white boy’
chris was rObbed of his tony nomination
unfortunately he wasn't the original marius in that production
Never thought I’d see Percy Jackson singing about his dead friends. Like I knew it was coming I just never thought about it
this comment is plain mean
Same here!
empty chairs at empty tables and a mess hall at camp.....
I will NEVER shut up about the 2016 She Loves Me revival EVER
I am obsessed with it!
ITS SO UNDERRATED AND ITS A CRIME
It’s so so so so good. I keep the professional pro shot that was on PBS saved so I can just rewatch it lol
I love Chris, but I literally had no clue he'd played Marius, now I've got clips to look up
seeing les mis without knowing about the candle bit beforehand was both life changing and extremely traumatic
Okay that empty chairs scene when he goes up at "ask" I csnt. Wow
I’m obsessed with Jane Krakowski what can’t she do
5 months later and I’m still obsessed
Why is nobody talking about Andrea Masacet’s riff at the end of don’t lose your head? Like it was so CLEAR
The jump rope tap number in Holiday Inn makes me lose my damn MINDDDD
Jane Krakowski was 48 during She Loves Me and she could still do THAT
Jane Krakowski is an icon and national treasure
Including Patina Miller’s LIFE-CHANGING performance as the witch is so iconic. I saw that live over a year ago and am still processing the glory of it.
seeing chris's empty chairs live literally changed my life. like les mis has been my favorite musical for years but it was SOMETHING ELSE.
I'M LIVING FOR THESE COMPILATIONS PLEASE NEVER STOP
I’ve never seen the choreography with Chris. Mccarells empty tables until now and like
I have chills
Me : *sees Chris mccarell at the start of the video*
Me : ah yes a see a person with good taste made this 😌💖
SAM'S ALL YOU WANNA DO DESERVES MORE LOVE

5:55 What’s heart breaking and a really good acting choice is how her voice shakes, and she flinches at the others touching her
8:05 holy shit that’s a powerful belt/note
I LITERALLY AUTOMATICALLY CRY EVERYTIME I HEAR THE ORCHESTRA COME BACK IN AS SHE SUSTAINS THAT NOTE IN AT THE BALLET ITS BEAUTIFUL
I've never seen footage from the Broadway Carrie! In is such a different version than what I'm used to but it SLAPS!
i'm LIVING for the tigers content, thank you so much for adding it
YESSS we are the tigers appreciation!!!!!!!!
1988 CARRIE DESERVED BETTER, PERIODT
holy SHIT. that "oh my friends, my FRIENDS, DON'T _ASK_ ME" and he turns and everyone melts away i'm FUCKING sobbing
(also can i just say i really appreciate how he's actively leaning on and using his cane in that scene. most mariuses just kind of hold it but like..... my mans is incredibly injured please he needs that to walk)
thank u for the carrie rep
im not experienced in many broadway shows despite being a fan of broadway for like 3 years and this video has brought me so much joy
4:56 AHH I SAW ZOE IN HAMILTON SHE'S SO GREAT
8:14 The commentary during "Marry me a little" about his arm ahhh I'm done 🤣🤣
THE HOLIDAY INN REPRESENTATIONNNNNN YEESSSSSS
edit: SHE LOVES ME TOOO YEYEEESSS
wow I posted this at like 1 am I was losing my damn mind I'm so sorry
i love how you pointed both of these out, ive been in both and love them 🥺
ugh it's like these moments are pulled straight from my brain your taste in theater is amazing
edit: i can confirm before the breakdown is a GREAT cry song
get that one ensemble moment from some kinda time in here its the epitome of the power of an ensemble
IT'S SO PERFECT
Tbh Andrea is my favorite Anne and the fact that people don't like her interpretation is BEYOND me. She's just so talented I love her sm ahhhh
Chris’s empty chairs is one of the best ever hands down
I love Empty chairs at Empty tables it’s one of my favourite songs from Les Miserables and it’s my absolute favourite musical
The dance break in sixteen going on seventeen makes me lose my mind
no andy marius on andy day 💔 here before this blows up
hi taylor trensch i was wondering when i'd see u
@@elisej7152 andy marius is also so powerful you’re correct 💔💔
After the all you wanna do clip I had to pause and cry I have watched it so many times and I still cry ugh who gave her the right to be so talented
I think about the Moonlight line in A Strange Loop so often, it’s highkey one of the most stunning lyrics in musical theatre history
Omg in the next video you have to include the part of POTO where Christine, Erik and Raoul all sing different lyrics all at the same time and making it seem like a real argument between the 3 of them.
I went back and forth but you're getting a like for that Holiday Inn clip one of my favorite shows for no reason other than that number and Blue Skies
I’ve never seen that tap number or heard of Holiday Inn (?, don’t know if that’s the name), but I love it! The only one I’d even call better than that is King of New York from Newsies. Jump roping AND tap dancing?!?! Amazing, beautiful, wonderful, fun. I love watching actors jumping around while tap dancing, I think it adds to the reasoning behind the tap dancing in the world of the musical, and makes it look less out of the blue.
i just think that gavin creel is so **CHEF’S KISS** AHHHH
COMPLETELY agree about larry owens... i saw him sing being alive 2 years ago and i think about it literally every day... no other performance of that song has lived up to my memory of larry singing it

WHEN WALLFLOWER CAME ON I SCREAMED! WE STAN WE ARE THE TIGERS
i legit GASPED when i saw the tap number while jumping rope! i've been tapping for almost my whole life that shit is HARD enough as is but throw in the goddam rope i'm LOSING IT those women are QUEENS
Macasaet is a legend in the making
I am learning about so many new shoes through this
LIFE ON MARS FROM LAZARUS IS SO INCREDIBLE AND UNDERRATED THANK YOU
i love chris mccarrell so much his voice just scratches my brain so nicely
cannot stress how much i would love you to include the west end staged concert version of empty chairs...i've listened to it an unhealthy amount his voice is PERFECT for marius
oh god and athena collins as katherine parr...her tone of voice is angelic
Your taste is absolutely IMMACULATE
Chris AND Jane in the same video. Wayyy to powerful love them
i love you describing aaron as “a funky lil white man”
the second strange loop clip made me fully gasp, pause, and go back to listen again holy SHIT. how have i never heard of this show
Omg I love that you included we are the tigers it’s so understated ahhahddhahhagaga
I listen to Sam's version of all you wanna do when I wanna cry
The sound of music is one of my favourite musicals and it’s never on these lists thank you!
as someone who tried to learn tap (and failed miserably) the tap number WHILE JUMPING ROPE?>!?!?!?! made me cry actual tears of no talent because i couldn't even imagine
“Okay funky lil white man” omg that made me snort so much. Hahaha. 🤣
The use of the overhead camera for the spin lift in TSOML was an excellent choice
Obsessed with Mara Davi. I saw that production and she was phenomenal!
yes some she loves me appreciation!
YESSS finally someone acknowledges that 1988 carrie was SUPERIOR
AND A CHORUS LINE???? this guy knows whats up
your taste is impeccable I love your channel
Did I rewind that Sophia Caruso clip a million times, yes I did. Just that last note over and over again.
A chorus line is so underrated like for what
Patina's "crruuuuuuUUUNNNNNNNNNCHHCHCHCHC" hits so hard and so good
I never knew that chris was in les mis. my life is complete. i will literally never shut up about this
Love this! i have been trying to get ideas for songs to cover for my musical theatre song everyday challenge and this really helped xxxx
I've watched this video so many times and I still lose it at "okay funky lil white man" 😂
Saw Chris in Les Mis, and it was So Good (though honestly the whole cast was phenomenal)
I was dreading the Broadway version of Six... then I saw/heard Andrea Macaset
patina miller is a LEGEND and she has my heart
that empty chairs one should be on spotify!!!
Literally just shove Percy Jackson singing Empty Chairs in my face like it wasn’t going to blast my soul into another dimension
the OBC of Carrie is SOOOO 80s it really hurts my heart
The Chris McCarrell love is astounding! (No shade, I'm exactly the same) :)
The All You Wanna Do performance omggg
THE WATT RESPECT. THANK YOU.
Chris deserved a tony nomination (and so did literally everyone involved in tltm) and i will die on that hill
The Wait for Me reprise plays 24/7 in my head
Even Angie and Gavin in the thumbnail are sending me
I think it is Very Much Worth Mentioning that Jane Krakowski was 49 when she performed that choreo....,,.,.,.,what a queen
thank you for putting what the trigger is for the tw, people always forget it
yas Carrie the musical originally opening number! we stan
frsh pain babyyyyy
this was on my recommended page good work
Our local theater is doing Holiday Inn and somehow they're doing the tap/jump rope number i almost auditioned but was having some issues with the director, so I didn't sadly.
I STARTED HYPERVENTILATING WHEN EVA CAME ON OHMYGOD IM SUCH AN EVA STAN
Nice of you to put Carrie the musical
You’ve gotta put Time Warp from the European tour Rocky Horror cast. Such an incredible Riff Raff
I prefer the version of sixteen going on seventeen from the original movie rather than the live version just becasue the difference of ages makes it look kinda weird, but don't get me wrong the choreo... chefs kiss
the taste in this video 🤩🤩
