  • Mobile Suit Gundam Documentary from NHK World Japan.
There's another vid of this on UA-cam but the audio is extremely out of sync and annoying, so I fixed it and reuploaded it.
May get taken down, I dunno. Enjoy while you can.

A shame this documentary has to be reposted like this. Without reposters things like this would be lost to time.

Wow it's so interesting to see how much Tomino and crew relied on the fans for support just look at where Gundam is today.

It's the early 2000's, the weekday, and you just got out of school....
You rush back home to catch the afternoon time slot of Toonami on cartoon network. Dragon Ball Z, Mobile Suit Gundam, Sailor Moon, and Card Captor Sakura....
    Those were the days!

My first exposure to Gundam was the foto novel a classmate brought from japan. This was mid 80s and I was in middle school. Needless to say it blew me away. Here I was watching American cartoons where no matter what no one really died. The seeing Char Bazooka a chick through her face.

I remember discovering Gundam through the original 1979 series when I was 11 on UA-cam, back when they had anime and TV Shows to watch under the TV Shows Section.

My 4 year old son and I built our first gunpla today! I've been a fan since I was a little older than he is now, but my parents would never fork out the dough for any weird plastic robots! Now I'm the dad and get to decide what constitutes as a wise purchase :)

Gundam has came a long way, and personally we're all happy because despite the initial reception, it's actually culminated into a prime pop culture phenomenon!
Tomonio, Sunrise and Bandai have done exceptionally well in creating the giant robot franchise of awesomeness of another beat of the symphony that is anime

I am “new” to the Gundam fandom. But I have to say that it is some of the greatest piece of media ever created in our lifetime. I used to think it was lame because I honestly didn’t understand it. Especially 0079 because the animation was so old looking (I was 10 at the time). But now at 28 and the world the way it is, the stories resonate now more than ever and has captivated me like no other

That's crazy that back then they didn't think they could make toys of the "bad guys" so they had more creative freedom for Zeon.

Imagine what happen to every people in fans club of gundam in 1979 and 1980 now.. they must be in their 50s or 60s of age and without them we would'nt have gunpla today..

While I'm aware that Furuya voiced both Amuro and Ribbons in 00, it's still pretty surprising to hear that his normal voice just sounds like Ribbons or 0093 Amuro speaking calmly.

Animation is brutal work when you are on tight turnarounds. Manga artists similarly drive themselves to injury or seeming madness due repetitive physical strain on arm and hand joints, as well as crushing mental stress

I was a zoids fan before I become a solid Gundam fans I abandoned zoids for disappointment that the series stop making new series after that I watch Gundam and I said it's not bad so I watch it till I get addicted to it even when zoids return I don't have any interest in it anymore because Gundam was already in my heart.

I knew gundam since i was like 9 (2010) cause i watched some products of gundam wing and my parents bought them cause they watched gundam and z. Than at 2013 i found a MG sword impulse gundam and get it for my birthday so i searched for the show and ended up on gundam build fighters that was airing back then. Since that time im a fan.

I was the same as you. My dad used to watch gundam Zeta when he was younger so he told me there's this gundam show that is airing on TV and said i should check it out and it was Gundam Seed. Though at the time i didn't know the show had any toys since they were never sold in my place so i was never really into it as much compared to Power Rangers and Transformers. I finally got back into Gundam when Build Fighters Aired and watch it on UA-cam which made me fell in love with the franchise again especially the Gunpla's that were made so Build Strike was my first ever Gunpla and now I've had over hundreds of Gunplas ever since then and have watch almost every Gundam Show/Series, Movies, Mangas, and even Video Games that have came out.

Depends on the series. Sometimes its a steadfast child even though everyone else around him is dying (Victory) or a once child soldier whos priority is the mission alone who wakes up and discover their humanity (Wing or 00) not all Gundam series are the same.

I swear you American's don't understand Gundam. Then again, why the hell is Evangelion so damn popular? The teens in those shows are more emotional!

    • @aozf05
      @aozf05 2 роки тому

I guess this person hasn't actually watched Gundam. There's only a few that have emotionally unstable main characters and those tend to be the less liked series (looking at you Zeta and Seed Destiny). There's also quite a few Gundam series that are much lighter, more typical shonen like any of the Build shows.
