One of the things that I always liked about this as a villain song was that at the beginning of the song, Onceler genuinely doesn't see what he's doing as being a bad thing and the question of "How bad can I be?" Is more of a, "it's no big deal" dismissal, but by the end of the song, it's more of a challenge to himself to see what he can get away with. You've captured both of those emotions perfectly.
The beginning it definitely feels like he's just celebrating finally having success. Ok so he has to cut down some trees, it's not that bad, right? By the middle he's just making excuses like most corporate execs or even politicians, trying to look like a nice guy but is really doing the bare minimum And by the end he just wants to see how far he can take it

Yeah but it paints capitalists as people who don't have any ill intention (the Onceler being surprised when all the trees are gone) when the reality is that they're aware of the environmental damage they're doing, and know exactly what's on store on the future, and dont care.
