I just decided to have a bit of fun with this one, it’s not incredibly clean but I wanted it to have personality more than I wanted it to be pitch perfect! I’ve also been SO BUSY so we didn’t have time to be perfectionists this week.

I just love how sadistic this song is and how the villain makes a point in making it all shiny and dynamic, showcasing its full villainy by being a practical drama ruler who weakens the food psychologically and emotionally. Truly an example of how to do villain songs that aren't all gloomy.

@@The_Darke_Lorde well, yeah, but they do have victimization, or a sob story incorporated filled with anger, or some sadness.
In this one, there's none of it. He just enjoys himself. Even his revenge on Maui is more for a matter of pride than any real hatred.
Lemme just say, this art of female Tamatoa is gorgeous❤ Also, an interesting and unexpected choice of a song, but I love it) Lydia’s voice is perfect for it (as it is for an awful lot of other characters and their songs, if we’re being real😁).

And that artwork, I picture her as a Witch Queen of her own kingdom with her kingdom being everything in the dark like Cecaelia like Ursula that want to be shiny like the mermaids that see them as monsters and ugly with their queen making them shiny and tricking the Mermaids and such so they become Polyps as a lesson with the Witchqueen being Ceto, mother of sea monsters

Well, yes, but some of the lyrics also imply she looks down on those who don't scrub the deck like she does, implying she's still ashamed and is unable of accepting who she used to be, even if it might have had good parts to it.

I feel like this version of the story would be that this fellow demi lady loved Maui but was rejected by him, so she glams herself up, making her "shiny" through dastardly ways, (possiblely by taking the items from the humans that Maui loves) when rejected again after the transformation that she thought would win Maui's love, she breaks inside realizing she'd never win his love over the humans, so her goal becomes to get his fish hook and the heart.
