I don't know if it's the new software or just how the piece is arranged, but it seems to have more... depth behind and separation between melody lines, if that makes sense. Love the power in the opening segment! And since I don't really care for metal, but sometimes like a good symphonic metal, you won't hear me complain about lack of guitar. :D

But what about the different playthroughs, I won with a 60x50 arena with heart lanterns, honey and campfires with the terra blade. It can work differently but range is preferred mostly. The thing about that is that depending on how close Plantera is while in the horizontal area, but what happens when you run out of hole, what happens when you pass out of the jungle and Plantera becomes enraged? An arena is best for the fight with platforms and removed the blocks below you so the spike balls won't come back and hit you over and over.
