Currently in India only 4% of the population have ever flown by planes! Also, the y-o-y growth is robust and the opportunity for more planes being added to the domestic fleet is HUGE, without counting the international travel by Indians!!
India is geographically smaller than China if we can make high speed railway work it would be more efficient
There is no way it can be only 4% of the population. I would say it’s over 25% at the very least. You must be talking your numbers from 1970-80s.
@@yorisingrango9837that would take longer to set up than the order of planes could be fulfilled and they just had that insanely catastrophic train crash a few weeks ago.
@@yorisingrango9837 It is much harder to do in India due to land acquisition, but I hope we will get there eventually.
True. My entire family have never set a foot on a plane. Even many of my friends, let alone their families!
I see a market in the future.
Such a intelligent CEO, well spoken, straight forward. Always a pleasure watching such people speak.
Airbus' CEO is so articulate; and did not "hide" from the questions! I am very interested in how they will manage the A220/500; and also to see if it will influence the future growth of the A321 extensions.
Yes, I am always amazed nowadays to see a interview were you get straight answers. It became so rare.
That will be very interesting. Being currently working with Airbus for A220-100 and -300, I could say -500 is very far away
Yeah TRUE boss knowledge about his trade
In last 9 years india added up 74 new airports to total 144 from 70 in 2014 and government plan is to make it to 220 airports by 2025. India has become the third-largest domestic aviation market in the world and is expected to overtake the UK to become the third-largest air passenger market by 2024.
In 2013-14, there were 400 aircraft in the nation and currently, there are 710 aircraft with more than 100 planes expected to join each year
OMG...
Aur phir log puchte hain modi ko kyu vote Dena chahiye.

Most of the airports are lying empty because of flawed central government policies. Kannur airport is a prime example
And modi will sell all those airport to adani on the exoense of common man like you and me
@@BENZENE6K kannur airport was a wrong decision taken by UPA. Within distance of 500 kms there were 4 international airports ( Trivandrum, Kochi, Kozhikode and Mangalore )all these 4 airports were doing well, There was no need of 5 th in Kannur. Just for petty politics they constructed kannur airport without any feasible study, but in coming years even that airport too will be busy.
The Indian market is huge and growing at a frantic pace..... The numbers are simply fantastic... India will be a v v important market for both airbus and Boeing
Won’t be surprised if Airbus sets up an assembly plant for narrow aisle planes in India like the one in Tianjin, China.
Nope. Not for two Indian orders. Sorry but no.
@@Sedna063 wow! Did you see that in your enchanted crystal ball?
@@Sedna063 Two orders worth 750 planes. Worth at least $50B even after discounts. I think there’s a definite business case for it.
@@saurabhb1041 If you want to built a factory in each country for 750 orders, you won’t be in business long enough.
Planes can be built everywhere. They will find the best place and option to built them. Spending billions on a new supply network and factory in India is not done lightly only to satisfy some Indian netizens.
@@Sedna063 that's the catch here. Not "every country" orders 750 planes at a go. This is the biggest commercial order in the history of civil aviation. If the scale is this huge then customer side is meant to have some bespoke demands, one of which is local manufacturing.
*India growth story* 🇮🇳💪
I think the frothy piece is a fair concern but Indigo’s orders are predominantly for the domestic India market which should see a 15% CAGR over the next decade which means 4X the current capacity. And Indigo is going to grow at a minimum at that rate if not more.

India has not even started.
Yeah but indigo revenue is 3 billion dollar
How will this work out?
It will take 15 years at least
@@rishabgaba8586 it doesn't work like that in airline business. IndiGo won't outright buy the planes. Airbus will sell the planes to a leasing company and then IndiGo will lease the planes from that company, essentially paying rent for the rest of it's time. The rent is substantially lower and it gets cut from the net revenue of IndiGo. Better alternative than outright buying the plane. Most budget carriers have leased planes.

If only we had brilliant CEOs like this in British industry instead of hopeless 'yes' men whose sole concern is a pathetic knighthood this country would not be in the bankrupt mess it is now in.
Abolish the monarchy completely and grow a spine so you can stop being the US puppet in chief and the country will start doing fine.
Yea i was shocked how direct and brillant CEO of Airbus.
A key question for Airbus: Why are they willing to expand their A320 production line in China, where future growth might not be as good due to the COMAC C919 but show no interest in setting up a production line in India? Indigo and Air India combined have over 1100+ A320 family jets on order!
Because of the intrinsic problems in India production.
Everyone wants to move production line out of China, but they could not. Like apple, now most of their products are still manufactured in China, while small amount are produced in Vietnam? Why not India for apple? Actually, they did set up factory in India, but with defects rate up to over 50 percent, at worst time, out of 4 phones, 3 are defective, while China has over 99 percent quality assurance.
There is a reason why most electronics are assembled in China. China factories are efficient, while good quality.
For a million dollars price aircraft, do you want it to be built in India, where they can’t build an electric car, or phone, profitably while maintain minimum quality? Airbus will not make money at least for now if factory is set up there, and if it is safe enough for people to fly on plane made in India? Theoretically, as India order so many planes, it is best to just set up an assembly line there, but no plane manufacture dare to do that. Brazil, Russia, China, Europe, Japan plane manufactures all refuse to go into the market, for a reason.
If India want to attract plane manufactures, or other companies to set up high end electronics manufacturing line in India, India should solve some intrinsic problems in the society.
Firstly, people needed to be educated well. Just 4 percent of Indian are wealthy enough to fly on plane, so I consider them to be elite. But even the elite will just urinate and defacate on the aisle on the plane. And when we move outside the airport, some people literally die on the side of the road while no one cares, but when a cow is hit by a car, everyone will go and save the cow. These kind of basic moral problem needed to be solve first.
Secondly, the living condition needed to be improve that it is attractive for foreigner to live in. Clean, drinkable water should be provided to everyone while local piping system. Now, the water quality is so bad that many India lose their hair because they use tape water to wash their hair. Imagine wanting someone to drink them? And a proper garbage and sewage treatment and collection system should be set up. At least this make the city smell better. And better housing should be built for everyone, and make the city looks and function better. Infrasturctures should be improved, and things like the recent train accident will be avoided. Near thousands die in just one train crash, in 2023. Who will want to live there, or even set up factories there.
When all problems mentioned above solved, everyone companies will rush and set up factories in India. But I don’t see how India, with the world largest population, a big country to change in these few years. Let’s wait and see.
@@hugochan2821bro did you graduated from whatsall university, cause you works are not making sense here man. I think you should actually check the sources again. Also this is just for the starters. Air india and indigo have said they will be doubling there fleet by 2030, and also said that they will ordering around 1100+ aircrafts by the end of 2030, given that the number of airports will be doubling by the end of 2030, it does makes sense to order more and more, and they just won't stop there.
The business opertunity is very very high, thats why you are seeing so many aviation related deals being done in recent time. Also TATA will start manufacturing C390 in the coming years, and it also currently builds F16s wings, also the jet engine deal where india will be manufacturing over 200+ F414 engines etc etc. All these means that the infrastructure will change rapidly over the course of years. Thousands and thousands of planes coming to India
I think Airbus has plenty of problems already with Pratt & Whitney engines, which powers some of their aircraft. This is causing set-backs from airlines already committed. They seem to be so confident that they will save an enormous amount of fuel in the coming years, and think they are first in line with such a project.
The calls for the A220-500 are getting louder. But airlines don't want a simple stretch of a highly efficient aircraft, they are calling for a long list of special flight capabilities from the A220-500:
Airlines want loads of engine power and performance superiority to access challenging airports and jump off short runways (
Airbus deserve all the success and orders coming their way
Western journalists finding it difficult to swallow the fact that Indian airlines are ordering humongous amounts of aircrafts . Only thing that is frothy is the champagne celebrations.
