I've always had a thing about messing with original, but, at least your are keeping the "Lincoln" in it with a little updating. Love the creativity on the wheel covers. I have had a 66, 68, 74, 77, 87, 89 and a 92. Have had the '89 for 27 years. Always wanted one of these though, just great.

I found one behind a gas station on Garvey in El Monte in 84. It was salmon pink and white including the upholstery and hadn't run in four years. They were tearing the station down to build a Burger King so I bought it for $400. New battery, plugs and plug wires and a new water pump from down the street at L&M auto parts and it fired up beautifully. It did have the AC, not working but the clear tubes coming out if the rear package tray were very cool. Drove it back to Reseda on the freeway at 70 miles an hour, probably not the smartest thing to do but made it. Cleaned it up and sold it 3 days later for $2400. Before the internet you could easily do this. Kind of wish I had kept it.

Had one when I was growing up in the 1960s. It was a 2 door, yellow with a black top. It was a great road car but not so good on gas....

Talk about Driving-it-Home stories -- I once bought a '63 Continental parts car in NY that had been rear-ended by a snowplow, but was still drivable. I drove it about 80 miles, to within about 3 miles of the place I was going to strip it, when I noticed the engine was on fire. Hell if I'm chickening out and calling a tow truck that close to my goal; I resolved to press on, regardless of the fact that the way had become suburban streets with lots of stop lights -- most of which I had to stop for. I had all the windows down and my head out the window b/c smoke was rolling out of the A/C vents in the dash by the time I got it over the finish line. It never ran again.

Really great job! I especially like it's small custom details you've made! Can I ask you the exact type and size of these whitewall tires? Let me say: the fatter is the whitewall the cooler it looks. :D
