- Ahhh, to be dancing up on the “risers” to the latest Turtles song!

Dancers: Pat Moriarity talking starts the clip on the Hotline talking to Al Nichols and Jim Pons who had recently joined the Turtles. 0:19 Frank Vanderpuil, 1:04 Mike Langham (far right in dark sweater), 1:15 Lori Montgomery, 1:40 Michael Michaud, 2:09 Frank Herrera (in front of the riser) and on the riser it’s Don Sanuskar and Peggy Waggoner.

No sleaziness here... how lovely
Big Bill O'Reilly: He concentrated on boys in those days.
Ahhh, Love the Turtles. I remember watching this every Saturday growing up!
That guy with the moustache looks like he just came from his office job
Bought that single....what a drummer the Turtles had!
Studio musician. Likely Hal Blaine.
@@MrWahooknows For Live gigs they had a SUPER good drummer, Johnny Barbata.....he was fabulous..
Happening scene that only the 60's can deliver.
Real girls, no piercings, no tattoo's, just pure beauty back then.
LOL the parents back then thought they were a bunch of freaks! No lie!
And no cell phones
Still are . You are looking at the world through Rose Coloured Glasses if you think kids were different back then. There was a very strong dress code to get in the door of that show plus at least 1 parent.
They had a job to do if you know what I mean.
@@beagle7622 only the 14-year-olds required a parent. But you're right. Boys only wore coats and ties because Dick wasn't letting them through the door wearing anything less. And the only thing making these girls more attractive is the absence of tattoos. In addition to tats being visually repulsive (I'm same-sex and don't like them on men, either), they DO NOT BELONG on the female physique. They're about as sexy as back hair.
The most stylish, beautiful generation of all-time!
eu adoro o jito que eles dançavam com o pescoço salve os anos 60 AMOOO
Watch AB after school everyday &yes Dick it was groovey
Gosh, I miss Dick Clark and this show.
Yes I do also . Saturday afternoons were reserved for the Bandstand .
@@larrysproul9424 Absolutely. I met Dick years ago on a buffet line. Great guy. Totally down to earth. He totally influenced my career as a singer-songwriter through his choice of musical acts on his show.
I love it when The Turtles head American Bandstand 😐

1967 what a great year......I was 17....my generation 💖😎
I was 18. In the army. Best years of my life around then. So sad what's happening to the world just now.
As was I. I met my wife a year later when we both started at UCLA. 48th wedding anniversary tomorrow.
@@johne6081 far out 🖤
@@paulhebblethwaite7168 very sad indeed , Id like a time machine and go back to the sixties 🖤 🇺🇸
I was 11 and I remember these songs and the commercial s
Sometimes it actually hurts to
Watch this. To think we had it all
.music girls friends pot drive in movies
Muscle cars youth
Never again and that's what hurts.
It’s hard to age. It’s like a small taste of life and then it’s over! 🙁
Yes, it does hurt sometimes when looking back but it also makes me smile, a lot, bcuz I grew up in those times with the music, the muscle cars and all the people I grew up with.
Sounds like a good time. You aren't alone. That's why I ALWAYS encourage my kids to appreciate - in the moment - what they enjoy nowadays because one day, it will probably be gone or replaced by something quite different.
It's not easy to comprehend that the future might be drastically different, if not worse, than it is currently. Until you've lived long enough to witness it.
@@vickiladu6755 That is so true Vicki
so blessed to have been part of this era!!! still lovin it in 2019!!!
The 1960s. If I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand.
People were cooler back then, including my white friends. We just did our thing without political correctness and if people didn't like, well that's was their hang up. We just moved on and life was groovy.
Sky One So true. I loved those times, I wasn't into politics yet. LOL
Sky One it was a totally different time Now there is so much Hate! miss those days
So true Sky One...so true
Sky One, miss the Times sometimes.
Sky, it's funny. I was just watching some ABs from the 70s, when I was a kid, and thinking exactly that: people were cooler back then. Then this popped up from 1967, before my time, and I was thinking how surprisingly uncool a lot of the dancers looked! I guess coolness is in the eye of the beholder, as it were. But I totally agree w/ you about the PC stuff.
We were a beautiful generation and so fortunate to have lived through the 60’s👍🏻
Wish I could go back to those magical times😊

Good old days -- my generation. 1967 I was 17. ❤🎶🎶🎵🎶💙 🌙🌙🌙 🌙🌙🌙
I want to tell all of these people how beautiful each of them are. Holy crap! This generation was definitely the most stylish- they knew what they were doing!!! This is coming from a Gen Z!
cool im a boomer thanks
The girls were so much cuter back than.
I was a small child back then, but I wish those days were back now!!!!😊
And not a tattoo or freakishly placed piercing in sight! Guys in ties & girls in dresses dancing to some of the most enduring music ever recorded as their backdrop. God bless FLO & EDDIE!
2020 and the young ones are dressing like it's 1967! Very retro, keep wearing those tight, thin pant's kids!
she'd rather be with me by the turtles shown on American bandstand in 1967 was the catchiest groove tune of all time it had a tremendous high energy dynamic to it
With all the things that happened to this country, I’m glad we lived in the 60s as well. We still had Some innocence.
Eu também amo os anos 60
I'm soooo thankful to have grown up in this era. One great song after another.
No cell phones. Just being together dancing with friends! Love this song.
"She'd Rather Be with Me" is my favorite Turtles song. It was their follow-up to "Happy Together", and it peaked at #3. The Turtles also performed this song on THE ED SULLIVAN SHOW on May 14, 1967.
One of the big reasons people didn't shoot each other back then was fun music like this.Nowadays, any car driving by,has "F this" and "kill that" blasting out of it in rap.
Isn't that the truth @Voice guy
👍👍
Great follow up to "Happy Together".
I see "Famous" dancing!! Everyone Loved Him dancing with the cutest
girls with his big beautiful smile, so I'm wondering
Where is Famous now!!! Anyone know?? This is Jan 2019
Maybe here? www.boomermagazine.com/american-bandstands-regulars-now/
I was on the show later in 1967, and into 1968! Loved it!!
Lucky you!
Some of those girls ... looked like they'd rather be w/ someone else
And some look like they'd like to be somewhere else.
On 1 November 2022, she made it very clear that she’d rather be with me.
God what a heaven we had, never
Seen before or ever again

The greatest Era to grow up in no phony baloney just good real fun
12 years old out of my
Mind in love
She moved of course to
Another state but not
From my heart
We danced ..and danced to the "BEAT"....
1967…I’d been in the Marines a year by then.
I see Famous Hooks, Jim Miranda and Debbie Cain in front of the riser @ the :45 mark.
our time was the best no tattoos or nose rings we were the greatest
☺Aaaaa....And not ONE of em brought a gun with em😳😮🤭😅🤪😝🥰
Too bad. God knows the world would have been better off with fewer boomers...
"That's a groovy Sound"
In 1967 my mom, sister and I rode an airplane from Anchorage to Seattle with The Turtles.
lucky. They are great guys.
My mum once rode an airplane from London to Brisbane with The Who and the Small Faces in 1968. It didn't end well 😔
The 60's hangout with friends, dance and play music was the thing❤❤
If only we could go back, I was getting ready to graduate from high school, great times, great football team, the best time of my life, yes better than college
Great music, great dancing, thanks for posting.
My youngest looks just like Mark Voleman! Total spitting image. I always tease him that Mark is his real Dad! Lol!! 😅 They look the same & act the same. If they ever made a movie about the Turtles, he could totally pass as Mark. I truly believe in doppelgängers & my son matches Mark In looks, mannerisms etc. It’s truly weird & fascinating at the same time. The simulation is totally uncanny. I wish the two could meet because Mark is one of my heroes. The Turtles fought for what they believed in & opened the floodgates for other artists to go after what was owed to them. ❤️❤️ I love that and will forever be a fan. I even bought my son a tambourine and revamped it so he at least had something to play! Lol! Go Turtles! Love you so much! ❤️❤️
Peggy Names...on the riser with Dancer Don....I love those sandals. And I believe something like those has been popular since then. If you hang onto stuff long enough, it comes back into style. Of course, my butt is not in style!! 😁
hahahahaha
They were so cute...but I read her reply somewhere about those sandals...said she didn’t know why she wore them dancing they killed her feet! I know the feeling! Lol
I went out and got some to wear to prom, of all things. Probably because I saw her wear them on Bandstand. Mine were white, though lol Not very practical or comfortable lol
Well said!!! People should unclench and relax. Just be Yourself and if People don't Like You, move on...
Hit the Top 40 on 5/13/67, Peaked at No.3, 11 Weeks on the Chart!
The cute blonde at the beginning at 0:24 with the bob hairdo and back bump bouffaint and bow reminds me of Sabrina with the Archies which came later. Really classic look of the time as I was only 6 years old in 1967 !
Hell, I STILL try to put that high back bump in my hair to this day!
That's cool - I love that "do" !
It's a classic look !
Im punishing myself watching these beautiful girls why wasn't I in that Generation
The turtles
I was in Vietnam. Jim
I remember listening to this playing on an eight track tape in my brothers 1965 Ford Mustang.
No you don't.
That guy in the glasses with a suit on you rock
That's AB legend John Pollard. He's like 90 now and the same lovable goof.
Love it wish could be there again !! We stayed together forever !!
Hi there.. how are you doing? Hope you are fine and staying safe over there??
A really groovy sound indeed. Happy together.
67 I had hair to my shoulders and everyone I knew had long hair . My girlfriend , wife now went on AB many times , they filmed 3 or 4 shows in one day so they had to change cloths .
Wow wow wow groovy man
Peggy Names und Dancer Don sind so fantastisch. Thanks Aaron for this video.
they were dancing and I was in Viet Nam protecting them.
Yea you were.....a true American hero! (In my opinion anyway)
fighting for what? as ALI said ' no Vietnamise ever called him N.....
Protecting them from what?
@@martinyuhas929 Dominoes! They're all gonna fall!
Thank you for your service! My husband fought in Viet Nam. Our son fought in Iraq 2007-08. It's too bad that liberals just don't get it. God Bless you! :D
The Turtles were so underrated.
The Turtles' biggest hit in England.
their biggest in South Africa too, where it hit #1 on the chart. Happy Together only managed #3...
@youcandancetoit I can't say for sure since you don't get a good look but I would bet that is dona waggoner dancing with Frank. Maybe that is why Peggy is dancing with Dan.
Still have the suit coats and ties on. In a flash, that would be history.
The kids that were on the show, did they have to pull strings or know somebody to get on or did they just audition?

1967 the year Vietnam got seriously bad. Lost innocence.

I wish you hadn't switched the audio., I would have liked to have heard the original broadcast audio of the song even if the quality was bad.
Great times! We enjoyed it, but didn't know how quickly it would end.
Was the show still in Philly then, or did it move to LA by then?
It was in LA by then, this was their third year actually.
Yes no tattoos or piercings. Girls were pretty back then, naturally.
Oh to be young
thank you .
Fabulous just fabulous it's all about dancing and grooving.
John Cleese @ 1:28?
dancer don, I have been watching these AB videos and I throughly enjoy them. I have noticed a guy in there that seems to epitomize 67 coolness. Do you know who the guy is at 1:00 and again at 1:24? I remember watching AB every week back then. Thanks
fsnoload sorry it took so long to reply, but I've been trying to find the name of the guy at 1:00 and again at 1:24. You're right, he did exude 1967 coolness. He was a regular on the show so hopefully viewers of this channel can help out with his name. ~~ Don
he is doing some cool moves on the Jefferson Airplane "Somebody To Love" clip. I was wondering who he is too.
fsnoload I agree, that guy is swoon worthy. So freaking cool.
There is this guy with glasses that’s in most of these videos....he is so funny and cool
dr john pollard.
APOLOGETIX a great parody band
Why werent the guys drafted and sent to vietnam
Most of the kids on the show back then weren't 18 yet.
