  • This week was a lot of fun as we've decided to take some time to build a perimeter for a garden and start the process of learning to grow our own food. Costco is getting more and more expensive as the years go, yet food grows for free when you have a good set up.
I guess you can consider me a millennial who has known better for the last five years, but dragged her feet to get to this place
We get asked what our food budget is per month, and as it stands right now it's about $3,000 to $4000 per month in food and while we are ever increasing our income, it seems we are being drawn back to nature.
If you're looking for a simple treat night and you don't mind raw eggs (they are good for you), then try this tiramisu recipe :
    6 eggs
1 cup sugar divided in half
    2 8oz mascarpone cheese
    4 boxes lady fingers
    1 cup black coffee
Follow the technique in this video and tell me if you try it!
Also, I'm here for all the gardening tips as a complete newbie.

I like how you took the dairy out of the plastic bottles to put in glass jars-so smart!!

Thanks for being here, Cathy! It's such an easy dessert, right?
The noise is so precious. I try to soak it in because the years are flying by. ❤️

I love watching you and your family!!! We also started growing our own garden and have been learning over the last couple years. For my area green peppers, zucchini and cucumbers grow like weeds!
I did learn from an elderly lady (and my own experience) not to store onions and potatoes together. The onions give off a gas that makes potatoes go bad faster. I had a 3 tier shelf I kept them on and always wondered why my potatoes got mushy so fast.

Ohhhhhhh ok! This is good to know!!! Thank you for saying something. I need these to last a long time.
What's your trick for peppers and what zone are you?
      I'm so glad you're here 🥹

That is awesome! What is the garden season in OK? Here in MI we have to wait until after Mother's day with hope that is our last frost.

It seems like we have two garden seasons. The summers get really hot and i feel like spring and fall are much like a Michigan summer. (I'm from traverse city, MI!) i heard from a local that with a high tunnel i could grow certain cherry tomato's all winter.
I'll report back to tell you if that's true or not 🤭

How do you store the root veggies? And how long do they last? :)
