Just to remind; Demons regenerate. So Himejima wasn't just wailing on the demon for kicks, he had to continuously keep it's head smashed for hours untill daybreak, or else it would regen its head and kill them both. Even though he hated it and was apalled by the feeling, he still did it to protect that little girl. What a hero he is. Also the 'Namu Amida Butsu' he keeps chanting essentially means 'Rest In Peace' in Japanese, it's a blessing for the dead. It is true that originally it is a mantra expressing devotion to Amida, but it can also be chanted to pray for the peace of the souls of the deceased, as a charm to ward off evil spirits, or to calm one's own mind. I think that the mantra chanted by Gyomei contains all of these meanings at the same time.
@@edgeelric4245 nah I'm Vietnamese and we use the phrase all time even for non-Buddhists. In no context does it mean RIP. It's basically a devotion chant from oneself to Buddha. Gyomei's been through so much trauma that the only way for him to cope is seek wisdom and compassion from Buddha for salvation. That's why he speaks the chant all the time. Through his conversation with Tanjiro we can clearly see he resents the kids and only has hope for the little girl. And she didn't die. So no he didn't pray for their peace. I don't read the manga but from what the anime showed, he hasn't found peace yet. A true Buddhist would understand and hold no anger toward the kids for their actions. First of all, Angie is the best for remembering the guy from zenitsu backstory. Secondary, just to avoid confusion, the smoke surrounding Musan is actually from a female titan!
I think I get why Gyomei's backstory hits harder. All the backstories we were told till now were basically in the perspective of a child losing his parents/family, since they mostly happened when the characters were young. But since Gyomei was already mature and in the position of taking care of children of his own, we finally got to see the perspective of a what it was like for a parent to lost their children.
The bass when Muzan slowly opens the gate was crazy. My whole room shook and my ears almost bled. Props to the sound design team to capture that terrifying feelings of his presence.
I feel like a slow walk helps to establish and build up a couple of things. It shows the different positions that both Muzan and Kagaya are in. Muzan has all the time in the world, so he doesn't need to rush; he can just take his time, unlike Kagaya, who is dying and doesn't even know how much time he has left. Which already can be psychologically draining. In this situation, Muzan is the one who dictates everything. This already builds up the tension/atmosphere and highlights the difference in their character dynamics, and the power dynamic in this meeting. It also shows how confident Muzan is, that he doesn't care that he gives more time for the Hashiras to arrive. You can think of it as "status manipulation". An example of this would be your interviewer making you sit on an uncomfortable chair, as opposed to the better one he sits on. It's a psychological manipulation reminding you that the other person is in the position of power, not you. It's a great way to establish the positions they are in for the conversation between the two leaders of the opposing forces and to see if Kagaya will be able to change this dynamic.
Yet another reason why demon slayer has so much to offer when you actually put thought into analyzing it as opposed to only watching bcuz “good animation”
@NobleVagabond2552 yes! The more I watch the series the more i realize how subtle the mangaka is with her storytelling. It really is one of those stories that benefit from a rewatch.
When Sayo said "he's a monster, he killed everyone" she was referring to the demon, it's just that the demon became ashes by the time the police got there and the only thing left was Gyomei, covered in blood, and the corpses, so they misinterpreted her and thought she was talking about Gyomei. In manga it's said that when he was arrested she was too young (she was just 4 years old) and traumatized to properly clarify things to help him as she wanted. Even after years from it, with her being older, the guilt for getting Gyomei wrongly arrested still haunts her, and it's said she always wanted the chance to see him to apologize.
Tbh I could still see such a young child being confused and thinking it was him regardless. The demon as a threat was so sudden and for like a minute, as she was crying in the corner . And then she spends good 4-7 hours in a room with just screaming and a guy violently killing a person, while surrounded by corpses. She could have just been left confused and traumatised with an image of him killing that demon for the whole night.
@jrlombardi5251 I know? I didn't say you were wrong. Just said it would still be quite possible for her to mistakenly remember it was him... ... And that would honestly work better with his backstory's theme than this in my opinion, but it is what it is.
@@Hatlessman_ his ideology was proven wrong by Tanjiro, which makes sense bc he misinterpreted Sayo, it's not like all kids were like that except Tanjiro, there are more like that that would prove to someone they're not all the same, he just wasn't able to see it, he missed it, till Tanjiro came around, that's the reason behind Tanjiro/Sayo's parallels, they're the same, then the other kids that counldn't hear and ended up running away, and ofc then Kaigaku.
Just to clarify, when Tanjiro needs water and he thinks about his friends, it's not bc he's dying and remembering them, he was thinking about one of them getting there to help him and give him some water to survive, that's why he thinks of Murata too, since he's also around as he's at Himejima's training at the moment.

Can we get a round of applause for an entire series of buildup executed flawlessly? Not for Muzan (well yes that too) but for Zenitsu Obvi Zenitsu is a love-or-hate character for a lot of people, but I love him, and the VO's delivery of Zenitsu's cold, focused rage this ep after years of his over-the-top silliness brought tears to my eyes. Demon Slayer's been playing nice, but the gloves are OFF now
From this I can Conclude that Muzan is Animators Fav character😂😂 whenever Muzan appears on the Screen they make him look like majestic . Muzan's Drip is insane 💀💀💀💀.
"Wait... Why are we celebrating? He's gonna hurt the Master." WHEN I TELL YOU I WHEEZED HELP ME Y'all are hilarious for cheering him on despite him being the most dangerous character to be in proximity of. Your reactions always have me clutching my stomach in some way while laughing my ass off😂 Also, I wholeheartedly agree with the reaction to the Infinity Castle arc being three movies😭 Everyone has been saying that it's good because that means the animation and pacing will be much better throughout the whole movie, but I don't know about that... Having to wait so long in between each one makes me feel icky too. I'd rather wait one week each time both for the hype of "the next episode" and also the easier access to the actual material instead of having to walk into a cinema and walk out thinking "when am I next gonna see the whole movie again?" (which is usually only 3-4 months after the movie is no longer in theaters😩)
I guess it all depends on how they are gonna handle the arc, like maybe they can do something to make each movie feel good and keep a continuous story. Although i will agree it will greatly affect the built up hype between each movie. I’ll admit i also wished they would do a season rather than a movie😅
@@Random_Python Pacing is honestly the least of my worries😭 It's just like you said. What happens in between each movie? Now we won't be able to say "Season 5 Episode __ made me cry/broke the internet" like people did in season 1 episode 19 when the anime first became popular... Like, where would the anticipation for each week's episode be? What about the dry spell in between movies? I just feel so mixed about the announcement 🥹
Gyomei not only the strongest, but has the most gruesome and saddest backstory thus far. This show is definitely not shy about showing child death. Carlie dear, what lies ahead, you better bring a lot more tissues. 😢😢😢
Tears started flowing out of me when I saw Zenitsu gripping the letter 😢 I haven’t even watched season 4 I read the manga when I finished season 2 and I still remember what happened in the letter God I hope they reveal it soon
Michael Angelo noticed it plus Ange admitted to a rewatch a few weeks ago so it was fresh. Michael however hasn't rewatched it and he remembered not only it but the episode number for when he was shown
I only saw 3 people who talk about the "necklace boy" (Michael Angelo, Ange and Magy), those reactors truly love this anime. The rest of the reactors didn't even make an expresion on the "necklace boy" unless they are manga readers.
Gyomei's backstory really made me sad but at the same time, angry as he was literally jailed for a crime he didn't even do. Thank goodness Ubuyashiki (Their master) was there to save him. I do know it's not Sayo's fault because for sure, "that monster" she's referring to is probably the demon. She just couldn't speak properly and comprehend right away on what just happened because of the shock as she's also still very young. The officers also assumed right away that it's Gyomei. I know the child (the boy) is scared but what he did is really selfish of him. Wherever he is now (if he's still alive), I hope karma gets him for what he did.
Might be a slight spoiler but I doubt they'll go back to this so At the end of the chapter where Gyomei's backstory was brought up (chapter 135) the author actually clarifies that she was indeed talking about the demon in an extra page so there'd be no confusion on who she was talking to. She said monster and since the demon burned up the people there assumed she meant Gyomei
By the way, the smoke effect is Muzan breaking Wisteria Barrier and getting burnt yet healing instantly. Need understanding of the difference of animation between aura and air/barrier resistance.
Yes! I'm so glad that Ange recognized the kid with necklace from Gyomei's backstory and the correlation with the person who bullied Zenitsu in zen's backstory in season 1. Great reaction as always, can't wait for next week!
That smoke from when the door started to open looks too real. A lot of people are going to hate the unnecessary length, but as a story climax, and work of aduio/video art, kinda peak.
I wonder what happened to that child who lured the demon into Gyomei and the other orphan kids. It was not mentioned if he survived after that incident or maybe he was already eaten by demons (much better lol).
SPOILER***** That guy is the same guy in zens story His name is kaigaku and Later he becomes upper moon six in infinity castle arc Zens main change about this is also related to kaigaku
I’m so glad you rewatched those episodes. I read the manga and it’s been a couple of years so I almost complete forgot about that detail. Yes that terrible kid who let the demons eat his “family” grew up to be Zenitsu’s training brother.
Giyomei man.. The respect. You really hear his soul also crying. What i love in this show is i really feel their pain. Marvel didn't hit me this hard. Hope someday that oscars aknowledge anime.
I had the same theory as you Ange, I thought that grandpa was d3ad, my brother who read the manga told me something that made me change my mind but I hope they let us know at the end of the season because I'm so curious. I cried with Gyomen's flashback, I'm a teacher myself so I understand that children don't understand things and twisted it into something they understand but it's bad for an adult.
Just imagine if muzan met gyomai instead of master when he was about to get executed and turned him into a upper rank demon😮😮 And that aura effect from muzan is actually a smoke of wisteria burning him continuously but that doesn't affect him much cuz he regenerating instantly.
The next episode will be crazy, cuz the end of ep7 is exactly where the hashira training arc ends and the infinity castle arc / Sunrise countdown arc begins, so I think we would all be cought off guard with the next one.
In the manga it says that according to sayo "that man" who was a "monster" who exed everyone, but by "that man" she meant the demon, not gyomei, but the demon burned up in the morning. sayo couldnt speak properly due to shock of that incident. so all the suspicion fell on gyomei which sent him to jail due to murder. even now, when shes older sayo wishes she can apologize.
Your guess is completely right . This traitor boy and zenitsus bully in season 1 are same person. I gyomeis backstory this black dress boy is a kid while in zenitsus backstory he is in his teenage . The letter is exactly related to zenitsus Gramps and this traitor boy too.
Muzan's slow walk was a normal walk, but in slow motion. Still, it was an epic entrance! I'm amazed it only occurred to Ange at the very end that Muzan was there to hurt the master! Hurting him is the least he will do!
First movie most likely ends with Akaza’s death and backstory . Second movie would most likely end with Doma’s death up till Muichiro meeting Kokushibu & Obanai and Mitsuri meeting Nakime . Third movie will most likely end up on Kokushibu’s death up or until Muzan’s revival.
This is confirmed by the author Sayo's story According to Sayo's account of the demon attack, "that man", was a "monster" who killed everyone, but by "that man", she meant the demon who snuck into the temple, not Himejima. However, the demon had burned up in the morning sun, and Sayo couldn't speak properly due to shock from the incident, so she couldn't dispel the suspicion that fell on Himejima. Even now, at the age 14, Sayo worries about that and wishes she could apologize.
I read the manga, and so many crazy things are gonna happen in the next arc that 3 movies makes sense to me. Ahh! I just hope they release them as soon as possible in streaming so you guys could watch it as close as possible when they come out because spoilers would be everywhere.

5:57 FINALLYYYYYYYYY SOMEONE NOTICED THAT THAT GUY IS SOMEONE FROM ZENITSU'S BACKSTORY, FINALLYYYYYYYYYYY
I've watched a ton of reactions of this ep, and NO ONE noticed that. Thank you guys, that's why you are my favorite react channel.
As a manga reader this is the most hype episode reaction for me seeing people recognise zenitsu personality and his brother in arms
Can we get a round of applause for an entire series of buildup executed flawlessly? Not for Muzan (well yes that too) but for Zenitsu
Obvi Zenitsu is a love-or-hate character for a lot of people, but I love him, and the VO's delivery of Zenitsu's cold, focused rage this ep after years of his over-the-top silliness brought tears to my eyes.
I love how after Tanjiro completed his training his slayer mark is always on him now.
I rewatched your reactions from 1x17 to 1x26 recently, so I also realized the necklace boy too!
Gyomei not only the strongest, but has the most gruesome and saddest backstory thus far. This show is definitely not shy about showing child death. Carlie dear, what lies ahead, you better bring a lot more tissues. 😢😢😢
it's the "wait, why we're celebrating?" for me
The next last episode is gonna leave us at huge cliffhanger for sure
I swear, Muzan entrance scene is the preview of the infinity castle arc.
And so the smooth criminal reverse moonwalked into the ubuyashiki residence just like that. His smooth criminal ass looking dapper as ever. 😂
Tears started flowing out of me when I saw Zenitsu gripping the letter 😢
I haven’t even watched season 4 I read the manga when I finished season 2 and I still remember what happened in the letter
God I hope they reveal it soon
Ubayashaki : just sleeping
muzan : hee hee
😭😭😭😭
Yes your ritht here ❤
Ayuwoki
brooo, you inmediately caught onto the necklace! I think you're the first reactor I've seen who noticed
Michael Angelo also noticed this
Right Michael noticed it I saw his reaction
Michael Angelo noticed it plus Ange admitted to a rewatch a few weeks ago so it was fresh. Michael however hasn't rewatched it and he remembered not only it but the episode number for when he was shown
I only saw 3 people who talk about the "necklace boy" (Michael Angelo, Ange and Magy), those reactors truly love this anime. The rest of the reactors didn't even make an expresion on the "necklace boy" unless they are manga readers.
@@darknesswave100 michael has a really good memory he literally rememberd the episode number
Just wait till you see akaza's backstory bro...🙂
Might be a slight spoiler but I doubt they'll go back to this so
At the end of the chapter where Gyomei's backstory was brought up (chapter 135) the author actually clarifies that she was indeed talking about the demon in an extra page so there'd be no confusion on who she was talking to. She said monster and since the demon burned up the people there assumed she meant Gyomei
@@Stoicevolve989it's overrated not that special tbh daķi and gyutaro has much better backstory than Akaza
Gyomie nvr blamed her he just wanted a thank you from her
@@SnSaket sure bro. come back after that ep drops
Dude comes out with all power and greatness to just say "you're ugly af" 😂
16:28 ahahaha same reaction I had until I realised "no wait aren't we supposed to be worried rather than excited" ahaha too good😂
Ange is positively insane for remembering that guy from Zenitsu's backstory.
By the way, the smoke effect is Muzan breaking Wisteria Barrier and getting burnt yet healing instantly. Need understanding of the difference of animation between aura and air/barrier resistance.
Its dope how Ange remembered the dude with the necklace from Zenitsu’s backstory 👏🏽👌🏽
No shame for getting caught in Muzan's Aura hahahahhaa, that was FIRE
Yes! I'm so glad that Ange recognized the kid with necklace from Gyomei's backstory and the correlation with the person who bullied Zenitsu in zen's backstory in season 1. Great reaction as always, can't wait for next week!
I physically felt sick when that slow walk was happening. It was epic!
They spend their whole season budget on muzan entrance
😂
it was worth it
That smoke from when the door started to open looks too real. A lot of people are going to hate the unnecessary length, but as a story climax, and work of aduio/video art, kinda peak.
and maybe on the next ep too
@@jbogle531Ungrateful and psycho can hate this type of animations. I love it, slow motion and sound effect scene make more epic and effective❤
"why are we celebrating? somethings's off" - yep!😂 Muzan had the same effect on me with that entrance, the aura!!
First reaction channel I’ve seen that recognised Kaigaku from Zennitsu’s past
I wonder what happened to that child who lured the demon into Gyomei and the other orphan kids. It was not mentioned if he survived after that incident or maybe he was already eaten by demons (much better lol).
SPOILER*****
That guy is the same guy in zens story
His name is kaigaku and
Later he becomes upper moon six in infinity castle arc
Zens main change about this is also related to kaigaku
nobody tell her! don't spoil this for her.
If i were you Id delete this comment for your own sake. There are many losers that like to spoil for their own amusement.
Just remember that child for future reference🙂
Let's just say his face is very recognizable 😅
Tanjiro really said "next episode, avengers assemble".....I'm so ready for episode 8
Next one gonna be a banger for sure
Bro litreally carried the aura and ufotable cooked there 🔥🔥
Just imagine if muzan met gyomai instead of master when he was about to get executed and turned him into a upper rank demon😮😮
And that aura effect from muzan is actually a smoke of wisteria burning him continuously but that doesn't affect him much cuz he regenerating instantly.
The next episode will be crazy, cuz the end of ep7 is exactly where the hashira training arc ends and the infinity castle arc / Sunrise countdown arc begins, so I think we would all be cought off guard with the next one.
The animation for his immunesystem fighting the wisteria flower smoke is SO CRISP!
Good job Ange for noticing that guy back in S1.
Been waiting for your reaction OMG!!!!❤🔥💯
Muzan Jackson Pulling up Like a G
Your guess is completely right . This traitor boy and zenitsus bully in season 1 are same person. I gyomeis backstory this black dress boy is a kid while in zenitsus backstory he is in his teenage . The letter is exactly related to zenitsus Gramps and this traitor boy too.
Muzan's slow walk was a normal walk, but in slow motion. Still, it was an epic entrance! I'm amazed it only occurred to Ange at the very end that Muzan was there to hurt the master! Hurting him is the least he will do!
13:32 foreshadowing 💀
Goodness..Muzan is just on another level.. I love it when he is on screen 😊🔥 especially when he is threatening
The symbolism of the beads falling as he went against his faith/nature to try to kill the demon was amazing
Wow iam so amazed that ang knew the guy from zen backstory 👏
Muzan went hee heee and moonwalked past their defense like a smooth criminal
This episode got me simping for Muzan ngl.
The way he walked through all the wisteria poison was just fire
Infinity Castle Arc 3 movies
1st movie - Douma and Kaigaku
2nd movie - Akaza and Douma
3rd movie - Kokushibo and Nakime
First movie most likely ends with Akaza’s death and backstory .
Second movie would most likely end with Doma’s death up till Muichiro meeting Kokushibu & Obanai and Mitsuri meeting Nakime .
Third movie will most likely end up on Kokushibu’s death up or until Muzan’s revival.
but i wonder they will add scenes cus the length of each fights are not even, some quicker and others longer.
but i wonder they will add scenes cus the length of each fights are not even, some quicker and others longer.
This is confirmed by the author
Sayo's story
According to Sayo's account of the demon attack, "that man", was a "monster" who killed everyone, but by "that man", she meant the demon who snuck into the temple, not Himejima. However, the demon had burned up in the morning sun, and Sayo couldn't speak properly due to shock from the incident, so she couldn't dispel the suspicion that fell on Himejima. Even now, at the age 14, Sayo worries about that and wishes she could apologize.
Next episode is gonna be straight FIREEE🔥🔥💯‼️‼️🔥🔥🔥
Seki Tomokazu (Sanemi's VA) is a 2000s anime GOAT. A lot of great and classic roles.
First reactor I've seen who remembered the guy from Zenitsu's backstory!! 🎉🎉🎉
Guys you missed an important detail at 6:57 . I was waiting for your reaction to this 🥲
ding ding ding ding! you are the first reactor to remember zenitsus tormentor! ill even give credit despite the fact that you watched it recently!
LMAOOOO I had the exact same reaction as Carlie when Ange brought up Zenitsu's backstory 😂😂
14:58 that one mf going to remind the teacher to assign homework:
Sayo was confused.she was just a four year old that couldn't comprehend what was going on.
I thought i heard “hehe” during his walk but it was js in my head
I read the manga, and so many crazy things are gonna happen in the next arc that 3 movies makes sense to me. Ahh! I just hope they release them as soon as possible in streaming so you guys could watch it as close as possible when they come out because spoilers would be everywhere.
