Matas is getting me excited. He has a good foundation to be THAT GUY if he has solid development.
If we somehow land that go to guy in the draft next year ie a cooper Flagg this rebuild could be quicker than expected. Look at Orlando when they got banchero. Couple high level young players around him and he took them to playoffs. Imagine Flagg with Buzelis Coby ayo pat giddey Phillips and a couple vets around that group. Could be exciting 😊

It's just a fact that the Bulls and the front office are not good at all with developing young players. I know everyone has seen it with Billy Dickhead Donavan. He is clueless on how to develop young players. Then, for all the azzholes who are going to say when he was at OKC. At OKC, all those players developed themselves, it honestly wasn't due to Billy D's coaching or knowledge. He always has players doing all the things they're not good at doing. For instance, we need more rebounds, so what does Billy D do?? Only let Andre Drummond play under 20 mins a game. He's clueless as a coach and even more clueless as a development coach!!
@@ItalianMobBosswell, like you said OKC players developed themselves, hopefully Matas develops himself into a star and if we're able to draft Cooper Flagg or any other star prospect so be it and if not then at least we already have a star in house.

Don't let yourself get fooled by a couple of blocks and steals, Matas often looked lost on defense, easy to lose in pick&rolls and couldn't properly box-out to save his life in the SL. Not to hate on the kid but he has a lot of work to do. And Lauri was NEVER a good defender. He might not be a liability as he was on the Bulls but still.

@@_Tahmar you don't know ball, P will actually has a chance to play the position he actually is meant to play, matas is one or two seasons in the weight room away from being at least 220 lbs of muscle. Absolutely no reason to not get him experience at the 4 since that's where he's going to be playing.
Bulls need to move on from PWill if he dont show anything this upcoming season.
Really impressive, a great piece for the future
I really like Sanogo play around the basket. He’s developed a soft touch in the paint. He also sets really good picks and creates space for guards penetration. He played well. Also DJ Steward could be an upgrade from Jevon Carter.
I hope he gets the Drummand numbers

I like Matas for the same reasons I like Reed, Bub, Kolek and Cam Spencer. They understand the game and pace. These qualities seem to be less important to most GM's than potential and upside.
Bro I know this is a stretch but a lot of Buzelis game reminds me of KD in some ways. I’m not comparing the two by any means! Buzelis definitely has unlimited potential with that size and athleticism it’s on us to develop him!

After 4 games Stewart had impressive 49% Fg 41% 3pt
Sonago 62% Fg
Buzelis started off good but limped toward the finish line 34% fg 29% 3pt
Phillips played even keel 40%fg 36% 3pt
Last game I didn't bother watch.
He was a top 5 worthy pick. He is the real deal. The Bulls will be a play-in team this year.

He's legit for sure. His weaknesses are going to be amplified by the increased speed and intensity of actual league play (shooting being the most significant), but I can see him being good defensively right away. He can handle, and he has good court sense. That will serve him initially. What I really adore about him is his motor--this bodes well, because it appears like he'll put in the work to get better. He also wants to be with the Bulls. Giddey and Buzelis together are not a bad idea, but neither can shoot the ball--they'll need to watch that, because defenses are going to pack it inside and dare them to shoot. I only wish Patrick Williams had the enthsiasm of Buzelis.

When watching Doug, Denzel, Tony Snell in the summer league... i thought to myself... "this is who these guys could become one day at their peak" When watching Matas, I'm thinking... "Where can this kid go, this is just the surface... sky is the limit".
I’m still surprised he went 11th. Teams are going to regret passing on Buzelis. I know it’s summer league but he has so much potential. He is kind of compared to KD, has size, he can shoot, long range enough to block and defend. I could see him play for the bulls this season.
I think Adams Sanago still have some future with the Bulls,even if Vooch doesn't get traded... Go Bulls
I think he was a great pick...I think Matas will be a 2 or 3 year project before it really starts paying dividends. He has the drive to get better, he'll still need a vet to mentally prep him and the actual reps on the court to get a better feel. I can only dream we get the numbers 1 pick next year to match Cooper with Matas.
Buzelis is already pretty well built. He does not need to increase his weight at all imo

Just have to remember he is 19 & not everybody is Luka Doncic & ready to lead a team as a teenager.
I think Matas shot is not as bad as we think. When he was squared up off of the pass he actually shot it well.
The problem was that the point guards on the roster did not playmake which resulted in Matas taking alot of shots off the dribble (taking stepbacks, sidesteps, etc..).
I think Giddey, Coby & Ayo will give him more open looks where he will shoot it efficently.

Good potential. Young. Needs at least 2-3 years to develop. Shooting in summer league was poor. Reminds me of young Lauri. Like many others will have descent 1st year off the bench, sophomore slump and in 3rd year need to stabilize his sea legs. Just cant get inpatient and trade him away when he struggles like Bulls did with Lauri.

I really like Matas game. He reminds me of a young Brandon Ingram on the Lakers. Really thin but with the ability to play long. Hopefully, he can improve his outside shot and gain weight or he will get bullied like BI did in his rookie. But BI had flashes against Giannis. Having said that, Matas is not starting over Patrick Williams. Pat just got $94 million and if Zach returns he is definitely starting.

Let's talk about how the Bulls organization is about to screw this up.
This is why we need to focus on young talent. Develop AND grow while trading ALL dead weight that keeps chances away from keeping the number 1 in '24. No disrespect to you Jamal and big boy from CHGO...but that overly optimistic belief in a REPEATEDLY failed narrative is what allows management to keep pushing out this same brand of garbage. Trust the damn process😂 Matas w Giddey, and POTENTIALLY Cooper Flagg is how you actually compete. Anything else is idiocy as we currently sit. Glad you made it back safe🍻✌️

Healthy Ball, Giddey, Pat, Buzelis and Vuc or Smith is my dream line up for 2025. Live that combination, but it will probably be White, Zach, Giddey, Pat and Vuc. I just hope my dream line up gets plenty of time on the floor together.

He averaged 33% from the field and less than that from 3 versus people who will be out of the league soon. He had one good game, and got shut down the rest. I can only assume most bull fans have been in the streets smoking crack because he wasn’t sweet at all.
He also averaged like 2 blocks a game, like two steals & played with great IQ, patience & team ball. With better players around him, he’ll get easier looks.
Most of those ex-Bulls you mentioned are system ball players.

Am I the only one that finds the trend of them drafting guys that are criminally undersized hoping that they will put on weight and develop within the next 3 to 5 years concerning? Like it's not just matas.... Go back to Patrick Williams and Marco simonovich we're both undersized... Wendell Carter Jr was undersized...Bobby portis was undersized... The closest they ever got to a drafting a big that was not undersized was Daniel Gafford... It's a seriously alarming trend in my opinion... As NONE of those guys have panned out for the bulls, except MAYBE Pat
His shooting percentage is awful, and that's after being inflated by slashing to the basket and getting some dunks and layups. If he improves his outside shooting, he can be a decent player.

Yeah I was excited about Lauri Markannen too and look what he blossomed into.. AFTER leaving the Bulls. Jimmy Butler ring a bell? Bulls are a terrible franchise plain and simple. Matas seems like a bit of a character listening to him talk. And not totally in a good way. Doesn’t mean he won’t mature though. And he definitely has skills. But his perimeter shooting might take a few years to completely come around. And his skinny upper body and narrow chest and shoulders he is gonna have to do some serious work to get stronger in order to really be effective on the NBA level. But no I wouldn’t be surprised to see him be a very good player some day. Just not sure it’ll be with the loser Bulls. Can’t believe Donovan is still the coach. Typical Bulls. Just like they held on to Paxson way, way, way too long.
*You know at the end of the day it doesn't matter how good this guy can be, the Bulls are one of the worst professional organizations in America! They routinely draft SYSTEMS players ....problem is the Bulls don't have a system and never has had a system. They can't develop players...they haven't come close to developing a drafted player since Drose and he was nba ready as a rookie all They had to do was give him the keys!
The Bulls always draft the safe pick, Wendell Carter, Toney Snell, Denzel Valentine, Doug McDermott, Paul Zipser, Omer Asik- where's the player development- most of these guys are out the leanow and probably should have never been in the league!
Lastly with Zack still on the roster I won't be watching a Bulls game until he's gone!
