A quick tip on your camera. Once you have the focus set, turn off auto focus. This means that you will always stay in focus, even if you move a bit. Right now, sometimes your face goes blurry as the camera decides to focus on your background. Keep up the great work Hampton !
Wait, turn OFF auto focus? Wouldn't that keep me blurry? What setting should I have it on? Thank you for the ankle stretch info. That's where my problem lies. I can squat but only with raised heels. So ,yep, I was happy to see those additional stretch techniques.
Yep. My ankles haven't been flexible enough...ever? I didn't discover it until my late teens. Raised heels works, or holding a weight out in front of me to counterbalance. I’m 63 and just started doing these a few weeks ago and I’m up to 10 minutes in the morning. I have worked out most of my life, so I know that’s helped!
This might be the most helpful video on youtube. Ever. Thank you, Hampton. Not just for this video but for everything you do to help others. You can't imagine how much your videos mean to some people. I know, because I am one of those people. I was very fat (135 kgs) but now just fat (120 kgs). I had a very bad hunchback but now it's better thanks to your posture video. I also couldn't do a normal squat and now I almost can do a full deep squat without raising my heels. Before that, I mean before your videos, I was hopeless and suicidal. I tried to kill myself two times. Once with overdosing and once with hanging. But thanks to your videos I finally saw hope. Thanks to your videos and to your beautiful personality. Never change, Hampton. I hope you have a beautiful life.
For anyone discouraged with their workouts... Just focus on working out as well as you can for a week. Then the following week just try to improve slightly from the previous week. Continue that trend week after week, and as long as you're slightly improving each week, you'll notice a massive difference after a year. It's all about small improvements that add up over a long period of time. Just don't quit.
That was my approach. I was highly motivated by this channel as he normalized starting veeeery low. I am on my push up journey and started with literally 1 wall push up. The next day I did to. The day after 3. When I started to get sore muscles I simply rested a day and then continued. Currently I'm at 3x20 inclined push ups from mid thigh hight. My goal is to doba regular push up by the end of the year, so plenty of time to get there. Kepp going slow, but steadily. This mind set was a game changer as it keeps motivating me, unlike all other approaches that just made me feel weak and discouraged.
That approach is exactly why this channel helps me. I don't feel shamed for starting with the 'easiest' exercises because just doing them at all is an achievement of will that should be recognised.
Great video. I am able to do the resting squat (with some support) for 5 minutes straight. Back feels a lot better. Knees grumble, but not stopping me from doing it. Thanks again Hampton.
I am writing this comment while breathing heavily. And I glad to inform you Hampton that I completed 2 sets of deep squats. Hampton ya rootin' tootin' houn' dog, I can finally deep squat.
Squats are difficult for me as my heel does not want to stay on the ground due to surgery. This is a brilliant video for helping me. Have a wonderful day everyone reading this

"Ahh thankyou for the invitation, however I must go check on my plants, and sing to them, incase they are lonely" This is why the Hamptons is so expensive to visit or stay at, it's so goddarn nice!!

You are truly the bestest! Say hi to the chickens for me. :D
Thank you so much for making this video! I've been dealing with gouty arthritis in my feet for years and never would have imagined I could squat again. Most videos about squats inly focus on form or breaking parallel, but your instruction on how to stretch the ankles and getting used to the squatting motion have helped tremendously.
Thanks for this comment my guy you're an inspiration 🤝
Keep up the good work, you are loved

Whoa that'd be a lot of responsibility. I'd need a personal assistant.

Thank you for this encouraging message!!
Nothing better than wake up and watch the new video of the coolest guy on earth
Kindest*
I don’t watch him for exercise (maybe a bit), I mostly watch him because his humour and the type of a guy that is fun to hang out with
Great video.
Awesome!
Squats are difficult for me as my heel does not want to stay on the ground due to surgery. This is a brilliant video for helping me. Have a wonderful day everyone reading this
Well I hope you have a wonderfull day as well
You tried oly/ squat shoes? They have a heel lift
@@gabegabriel9288 I will see if I can find some. Thank you very much.

@@gabegabriel9288 alright. Thank you mate. I really appreciate it
I love that you break the exercises down to "build" up to an actual exercise! It makes it more actionable and sustainable! And, you do it with some humor mixed in. Def going to subscribe and try these out! :)
Finally I have found someone who does not make complicated and long vids😁👍
'The Hamptons' is really just a place where there are lots and lots of Hampton's hanging out, being really nice and kind, greeting each other
"Hello my brother Hampton!"
"Why hello brother Hampton!"
"And look over there it's our other brother Hampton!"
"Say Hampton, would you be interested in doing some push ups with me?"
"Why yes I would Hampton, what about our other brother, Hampton?"
"Ahh thankyou for the invitation, however I must go check on my plants, and sing to them, incase they are lonely"
This is why the Hamptons is so expensive to visit or stay at, it's so goddarn nice!!
I'm dying 😂😂
Hampton, you absolute beautiful legend you helped me start my workout journey and I can now comfortably do deep squats
Don't like to exercise but your positive energy just calms my anxiety down, and I might try exercising more now 😭 If I get more active all the credits goes to you 👍
Keep at least some of those credits for yourself ;)
All the credit would go to YOU, my friend, because you did the work. I'm really glad this can help with your anxiety, though.
If you ever feel like exercising, I'll still be here!
He really is a humble and funny guy who teaches great exercising reps.
I want this dude to be my gym instructor srsly:>
I've been binging your short videos recently. I love your attitude, positivity, and how accessible you make your content/info. I appreciate you.
I slapped myself in the face so hard with a resistance band once. Was doing rows and it slipped out from under my feet. Right across the eyes, was seeing stars like a cartoon character lol.
I'm a stay at home mum with 3 kids under 3, we live in the country, and my husband works away from home, so getting to the gym in our town is just not a possibility. I started walking every day in addition to the walks with my kids, but needed to add more practical fitness. Your videos have been life changing. Providing beginner progressions and routines that don't require a ton of equipment or crazy movements (looking at you "spider man pushups".....) is amazing. Plus, you are just a delightful human. I just want to say thank you so much. You are helping me to learn and develop habits for me, and my kids.
I'm 69 and trying to get back into shape after many years of inactivity. Stumbled onto your videos and LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I've recommended them to some of my friends, and even my son, who is very fit, likes them. He said to tell you that you are doing a great service to people who don't want to exercise because they can't do the exercises properly. Thank you for all you do. You are a treasure.
Bro you make me feel so much better about how i work out.. i would and still am always embarrassed when working out... but seeing your tips it just relieves so much built up stress i used to have when it comes to my technique or posture.
Only now did I just realise that his mug is brown and white, this whole time I thought it was a full cup of coffee with foam on top‽
Now I can't unsee it
Saaaame!!
Hampton, ya rootin' tootin' houn' dog, I can finally deep squat
No really, it took a year though. I started when i can't even lift myself up from my bed and now squats are my stress reliever... this and sissy squats.
So yeah, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
The three people who disliked snapped themselves in the face... 💀
24 now lol
If the bands run off the bottom of your heels then you're liable to snap yourself in the nuts
@@cm01 oof I the felt pain reading that
I’m a skinny guy and have been lifting on and off for the past year, this video has helped a ton. I can squat deeper than I ever could before. I added 10 lbs to my squat last workout and I’m going lower and lower with proper form. I’m so excited!
I’ve been doing similar squats I have knee and sciatica issues, been doing it religiously for 6 months one day went to lift a lawnmower into a car
and automatically squatting with good mechanics lifting with my knees I WAS SHOCKED 😮 a year ago I never would have attempted that maneuver .
I KEEP WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS TO CATCH SMALL DETAILS IM MISSING KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
Hampton, just so you know, you really are the best rootin' tootin' houn' dog there ever was
omg i have never been this early, just wanna say that i love you so much, you and your videos motivate me and inspire me a lot so thank you so much Hampton!! hope you are safe, healthy and happy 🤍
Same! Hampton is like an uncle Iroh!
Wow, thank you for that kind message. I'm just happy that I can make videos for an audience. Hope you're doing great as well! Your message means a lot :)
Im honestly not even interested in doing exercise, i just love this guy’s energy and positive vibe

Hampton, ya rootin' tootin' houn' dog,
I can finally deep squat.
THANK YOU ☯️
Good evening, I am a stone mason and I've always felt strong. However your teaching has increased my flexibility and range of motion dramatically. I have less lower back stiffness and my knees aren't crunchy anymore. Thank you for your time.
You are a great motivation. Love your positivity!
I love how his personality shows more and more
I applaud your work as a Functional Medicine Chiropractor. Thank you on behalf general population who are in such need for functional resistive Mobility training especially after 50
I have always struggled with my ankles coming up off of the ground when I squat. Thank you for taking the time to show ways to work on that.
After a decade of wearing heels from a very young age I couldn't do a proper squat to save my life. Thank you so much for these exercises and tips, they're a perfect addition to my mobility routine.
Between you and yoga with Adrienne, I feel like I'm rebuilding my body. ❤️ Thank you!!!
Hampton, ya rootin' tooton' houn' dog,
I can finally deep squat.
love ya man
Such a good video. I really like that you're a gentle and funny teacher while also encouraging a strong push with the amount of reps. I already do weighted squats but watched this to get pointers on form and variations with bodyweight. Keep at it man ! This is good stuff
Hampton. Ya rootin'tootin' houn' dog, I can finally deep squat. And I always could but never realized it until you. God bless man lol 😂💯✌️🇺🇸🇲🇽
Hands down UA-cam's best UA-camr. Stumbled on his site and I'm hooked. Thanks Hampton for being such a good human. Have a beautiful day.
Thank you SO much for showing how to do the Resisted Lying Squats. I've been sick for a long time and I've been slowly trying to get my strength back but right now I am just not strong enough yet for Jackknife Squats and I was at a loss how I could make the exercise simpler so I would someday be able to progress. You are truly the bestest! Say hi to the chickens for me. :D
Me who grew up using squat toilets in China: People need to learn how to deep squat?
Don't lose the mobility!
If you don't use it, you lose it.
Yup! Lol!
I once rented a squat toilet only apartment for a year. Had to learn it the hard way 🙃
@@damian_madmansnest Sounds like quite the experience😂

Thank you so much for making this video! I've been dealing with gouty arthritis in my feet for years and never would have imagined I could squat again. Most videos about squats inly focus on form or breaking parallel, but your instruction on how to stretch the ankles and getting used to the squatting motion have helped tremendously. I've been incorporating the assisted squats and Jack knife squats into my daily routine and a month later I've finally done my first full body weight squat in over 5 years. Keep up the great work and good vibes!
Dang brother, you really helped to work my feeble twigs into stable branches.
I feel so good when he says "my friend" or "my brother"
Hey, I am fat guy with no leg strength to do squats. I tried many times and disappointed with myself when I couldn't.
Finally this vid gave me enough confidence to go through the process in a proper way.
Today is my first day and I'm gonna record my progress here everyday.
Hope you'll have a gud day❤.

Discovering your channel was a blessing for me :'))
Started working on my deep squat 2.5 weeks ago. I could barely reach a 90 degree leg bend without tipping back. I can already see such amazing progress! I’m now comfortably dipping to halfway below my knees. I think I will have it in another 3-4 weeks. Then I will work on holding it for longer and longer until it’s comfy. 💪 Will report back!
Some Powerful words right there.... "Fitness and health is a journey"
Your humour just gets me. Also, just really nice!! Hopefully this works for me. My muscles aren't the blocking point for me, it's my knees! Hopefully this helps!
Thanks so much for this video! I appreciate all that you teach. I'm 72, but I take care of residential swimming pools, so it's not like I sit around all day. I recently learned about deep squats, and your video is not just helpful, but funny as well. God bless you brother!
Hampton, thank you for the stretching tips at the end.
I am currently trying to make my body more limber, as I have observed myself having a much more positive outlook in general, and I am sure your videos will bring me closer to that goal!
So again, thank you!
The ankle mobility... It feels like I'm going to tear my achilles and spend half a year recovering
Yeah it's rough for me too
This man can talk effortlessly while working out...you have my respect
Thanks for the great tips!! I've been doing body squats for a couple months now and they really help. Now, time to go a little deeper thanks the video!! :-) Really like your kindness in helping others learn.
U a 1st person explains how to start any exercise variations for beginners to high level in deep i recommend everyone to take a look on your videos u won't regret it, cheers man
You have Bob Ross Energy, thats very good. I wonder if this will help me because I have problems with ankle Mobility mostly. A little stiff and unflexible.
Thank you my friend during my basic training for the military one of things they had us doing was holding a rifle whilst doing a deep squat and not gonna lie struggled big time so definitely taking this advice cos my flexibility still ain’t great
Thanks Hampton, your videos are excellent. In my mid 40s and not having sat cross-legged on the floor for years or doing sustained deep squats until starting to watch your videos and slowly easing myself into these exercises with a goal to become more flexible and healthier.
