  • Last Friday, Robert Forster nearly cancelled his first London show as he was so ill. Apparently it would have been the first time he'd cancelled a show! Thankfully for us, he powered through and was just as charming, witty and erudite as always. I feel lucky to have seen Robert nearly every year since I moved to the UK and I always look forward to his stories and tales.
I love this Go-Betweens song. With a full band, it's so rhythmic, almost like a chugging steam train. Very evocative and fierce but also modern. "Why do people who read Dostoyevsky look like, Dostoyevsky?" There's some good quality audience participation here and the song turns a bit into 'Proud Mary'. Brilliant.
