      What's really sad is the younger generations who never knew the man's gifted talent. Watched him on Hew Haw, along with Buck Owens, every Sunday night when I was growing up...

      @@unclegare9778 Don't sweat it. Every generation has great talents that eventually pass away that the younger generation will never know about (unless they watch these UA-cam videos!) Let's just hope that the younger generations continue to produce talented people, and not just let themselves rot from the inside out.

      Roy Clark was many things, but never underrated. He was everywhere in the '60s and '70s and had his own 1,500 seat theater in Branson Missouri during the '80s.

      Man, have you ever heard him play classical music? Actually, every style of music he can play. But I saw him playing a really complicated classical guitar piece like it wasn't anything.

    When he was in his early teens, Roy Clark, along with his dad, used to attend the almost weekly Saturday night parties at my grandparent's home in Oxon Hill, Maryland (his dad and my grandfather worked together at the Washington Navy Yard). There was always lots of good food (prepared by my grandmother) and country music, and by all accounts, Roy was a somewhat shy but very talented musician even then.

    This guy was one of the most talented musicians ever. I don’t think he ever did get half of the credit he deserves. Buck Owens was great also, but Roy Clark was head and shoulders above most performers of his time.

    I "had" to watch hee haw when I was young with my parents. I look back at those times and thank God I had them with my parents and people like Roy Clark

    No matter how many times I watch Roy play this it’s almost like watching it for the first time. He’s a class act! It’s one thing to be a master on guitar but then his timing, humor, stage presence and singing makes for a complete package!!!

    Here in Tulsa, we were fortunate to have Roy around town for many years. Roy was a class act in real life....not just in front of the cameras.

    I grew up watching him on "Hee-Haw". He was one of the best guitarists in the world and pretty amazing on the banjo and fiddle too. So much talent. Rest in peace, Roy. Cheers from America.

    It’s sweet to see he was on Jimmy Dean’s show since, years before, Dean fired him! Clark constantly showed up late for band practice, and Dean felt that no matter how great a talent, Clark should not think he could waste the other band members’ time by being late.

    I remember watching hee-haw as a kid. I'm not a country music fan, per se, but i always loved Roy Clark! Played with such ease. He was always having fun performing, and it was infectious!❤

    Story goes, a reporter once asked a British rocker what it felt like to be the world's greatest guitarist. Rocker reportedly said, "I don't know. Go ask Roy Clark."

    I learned to play the guitar because of him, when I was 11 or 12 he came out with a book you could put stickers on the frets and learn chords, I’m 61 and still love playing my guitar

    Roy clark ,an instrumental virtuoso,hidden behind his humor and the niche of C&W music of the early days of TV. He was funny and had the musical chops to back it up.

    I saw him in Branson when he was at least age 70, fronting what was basically a rockabilly band. The dude still had it. Very rarely shows up on any "best of" list. Criminal. One of the greatest American performers of any genre. But, if you're reading this - you probably know that.

    I used to think he was just "that guy from Hee Haw." Then I grew up. I put away childish things, including the notion that if a guy's on Hee Haw he can't also be an incredibly talented performer. I swear, there are very few people that can hold a candle to Roy Clark.

    He was amazing !!! So skilled. I watched him furiously play a very difficult piece on a 12 string acoustic guitar. Strings were breaking but it never sounded like he missed a note!!! He was funny too❤ I MISS HIM AND HIS MUSIC

    I'm old enough to have watched him when he was at the height of his fame. If he was at his prime right now, he would be one of the biggest stars on the planet. He was an amazingly talented man, and it's a shame that more people don't know it. RIP Roy. 😢

    They called him “Superpicker” for good reason. His comedic approach of the shy, nervous character in those days took a ton of guts to pull off on TV as he must’ve known some people wouldn’t even realize that it was a shtick. Seeing it now it was really hilarious and ahead of its time. That audience was way too subdued given what he was doing. Great stuff.

    There are so many musicians I remember growing up in the 1960's and 70's I took for granted perhaps because I was just a kid and thats what kids do. But when I look at these old video clips I now realize how exceptionally talented they were.

    Saw him live at the Clark AFB airmen's club in the Philippines back during the Vietnam thing. What a great entertainer and a master guitarist.

    Whenever people try a poll of the "Greatest Of All Time" for guitar players, I make the point that there's no one "GOAT". But there's an elite group of guitarists who are just so much better than anyone else. Chet Atkins, Les Paul, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Andrés Segovia are just a few in this group. Roy Clark's in there too.
