Hi Jack!!! 😊 I can totally empathise with reading burnout, when you don't feel like picking up a book or when there's no book that grabs you in the right way. I think that with any activity/hobby, even the ones we love the most, there can be a bit of an ebb and flow, but I'm not sure I have any good advice on how to get back on track. 😅 I'm happy you could still find some great books this month and I hope October will bring back even more of your joy of reading! Elena Knows has been on my tbr for ages, after your glowing reveiw I have no excuse and really need to get to it. 🙈 Sarah Moss is a very beloved author but I tried one of her books and, oh boy, it really wasn't for me, so I totally get you. 😂 September was kind of a "meh month" but then on a whim I picked up My Friends by Hisham Matar and I really loved it, my second 5-star of the year (not my best reading year so far, I have to admit 😅). The Booker list did not fail us this time, we both got a new favourite out of it! Have a lovely week!
@@rie_violet hi my friend. You are so right, there’s definitely some inn and flow. You definitely forget that when you just want to be reading all the time. Thanks for reminding me. Yeah, there’s so no excuse. Except of course owning and not reading a book is very much something I do 😂 but I really loved Elena knows, such a fantastic book. You’ve got me very tempted by My Friends! Ahhhh not another book. I’ll add it too my Wishlist! Have a fantastic week. You deserve it 😊
I also loved The Safe Keep and the twist is so good, so cleaver!! It’s my joint favourite to win along side Held - Held maybe slightly more due to the beauty and the heart of it and that you could keep coming back to it…Would love to hear what you think of that one
@@neilturner2368 I can not stop thinking about The Safe Keep. Will definitely be in my Top 10 books of the year. Glad to hear you’re joint rooting for it to win. Maybe I’ll have to check Held out. That sounds very promising 😊
When it comes to vlogs I for one I have to be in the mood for watching a vlog, and second, I avoid vlogs with books I might want to read because vlogs *can* be accidentaly spoiling. That is more rare to happen in wrap up videos. So for me, if I watch a vlog or not is not personal, it depends on mood and the book. ❤
@@jthbooks Yeah, I have noticed that you tend to go directly to self blame no matter the issue. I am glad if I could help lift that from you. Most often every person around us have different reasons for actions or non-actions. If you like your vlogs and if there are people saying they like them, then believe that. I like all your videos and watch almost every one, when or if I skip one has more to do with my mood than your content. If I am not up for vlogs I watch no ones vlog that week. I also save them in a private playlist called "booktubers vlogs" that I then watch through when I am in the mood. And if there is a book in a vlog that I want to read first then I have a playlist called "vids to get back to when I read the book". 🙃
Watching this video late at night, because I can't sleep. So I thought why not spending time with a friend? And then this friend spoiles the ending of The Paper Palace on a whim. 😜 I dnf'd The Safekeep, because I just knew what was going to happen. And then I checked and I was right. 🕵🏼♀️ Don't hate me. The last book I absolutely didn't like was Walking on the Ceiling by Ayşegül Savaş. A complete empty shell imo. I bailed on The Fell by Sarah Moss, gave Ghost Wall two stars, but I really loved The Tidal Zone by her (that's why I picked up the other two). Obviously she is a one-hit-wonder for me.
@@ameliareads589 well I’m very sorry you couldn’t sleep, I know how horrible that is. But very honoured to spend the time with you. I probably made you fall asleep 😂 Sorry for spoiling the ending! Don’t read it though, not worth your time 😂 I know you weren’t a fan of that one, I remember you telling me. Glad to hear I’m not the only who feels that way about Sarah, I’ve only ever really heard praise for her! I hope you’re well my friend 😊
Yay! I’m currently reading The Sakekeep ! 📚🪱💚🎃
@@spexi513 LOVE TO HEAR THIS. One of my favourites! Let me know what you think 😊
