Jodie Foster said her performance was fantastic (in the Queen's Gambit). When Jodie Foster says you're talented. You know you're good.
Jodie foster is whack
huh?
@@hermanspice7084 She did an interview with the cast of the show.

Anya's parents grew up and were born in Argentina, she was raised in Argentina, she has Argentine citizenship, she was born in the US because her father was on a business trip there, her whole family lives in Argentina, and her first language is Spanish, which she speaks and writes fluently with a strong Argentine accent. Just to clear this up for people, being Latin American is NOT a race. Latin Americans can be white, black, indigenous, asian, arab, etc. or a mix of anything. Many Latin Americans in countries like Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, are of European descent, as is the case with many latin celebrities like Anya, Alexis Bledel, Camila Morrone, Loreto Peralta, Sofia Carson etc. For example: Shakira is Colombian with Lebanese ancestry, Anya is Argentine with European ancestry. /// The fact that someone looks/is white or black or brown doesn't make them any less or any more latin. Just like Americans can be of any race or ancestry, so can Latin Americans. So please, don't make the mistake of telling a Latin person "You don't look latin," because "latin" isn't a "look."
Nunca antes mejor dicho 👏👏 Molesta muchísimo que usen la palabra latino para describir rasgos o color de piel.
In fact Argentina and Uruguay have higher percentage of European ancestry than the USA.
@@IR19881 there we go. Being Latin is a culture and nationality, not a race. I’m Colombian and my grandparents on each sides are Irish and Spanish and they moved to Colombia when they were young. They love Colombia and identify as Colombian. I’m of European ancestry, but I’m 100% Colombian / Latin. Our Latin American countries are extremely diverse in ancestries but our Latin culture unites us ❤️
Thanks for slapping all that bunch of ignorants like graham norton
@@sofiaa.319 that's right. Reminded me that time a dude on twitter said argentines can't speak for latinos cause we're all white??
"Yeah, I'm Argentine". Really proud of her.
It's not an accomplishment.
@@sweiland75 you wouldn't understand.
@@sweiland75 its an accomplishment because before, (not too long ago) people would often try to make themselves appear more American and less of any other culture out of fear of being judged or excluded because of their origin. Now, saying you're Latin American and you speak Spanish, or saying you're from any other country that isn't the US, or saying you're an immigrant is an accomplishment because we now celebrate and encourage diversity and multiculturalism, because where you're from is something you should be proud of and never hide. Anya is Argentine and her first language is Spanish. To her that's something to be proud of!
@@sofiaa.319 Well, she has learned in some ways because she put in a lot of effort to drop any semblance of accent when speaking English. If she hadn't her roles would have been limited.
I’ve never had much care for any actor or celebrity, but I would fight anyone who would criticise Anya Taylor-Joy. She has nothing but a bright future ahead of her
Hope so too. But the father her eyes keep moving behind her head she won't even see the future
She should be cast as a Targaryen for House of the Dragon series. She fits the Valyrian look, and has amazing acting.
Silver hair is not enough

@@persiepony maybe
@@vufcyfxcyyfccfugvi7466 Wasn’t rlly talking just about her light hair, anyone can have light bleached hair. More like her whole look because she fits the “other worldly beauty” described in the books that Targaryens are known for. And Anya is great at acting, moreso than other actresses in this generation, in my opinion of course. She truly stands out.
yea but they will probably cast someone black cuz u know why😔

Best. Comment. 2021
anya said she wants to work with guillermo del toro in a spanish film. im really hoping that will happen cause i want to hear her speak in her argentine accent in the big screen
Fun fact: Harry Melling is the grandson of the late Patrick Troughton, the second Doctor on Doctor Who, so he has the potential to be the Doctor someday
@Black Liberalman I'm just poiting out something, relax, dude

... why?
@Black Liberalman Wow, you're a huge snowflake. Just because the multidimensional alien looks like a woman from earth now. You must be afraid of women.
@Black Liberalman The show has been liberal since Tom.

She said "I'm Argentine" oh love her so much! Aguante Anya!!
Anya has got the best future in Hollywood. Mark my works.
That's not really a stretch from where she is already lol
Anya Taylor-Joy is definitely a pleasure to have especially on The Graham Norton Show.
I also learnt English by reading the Dutch and English versions of Harry Potter side by side
Me too... I learned English by reading HP
I couldn't wait till the books were translated in my native language so I also read the last ones in English. Already knew the basics, but definitely expanded my vocabulary.
I've been interested in learning Dutch, so it's cool to know it was translated in Dutch.
I read Harry Potter in Italian to improve my Italian
She's the girl from Split. Really pleased she's doing so well for herself, she's an incredible actress!

@@Roflmaolinde Nah. I dislike horror movies. XD
@@AngryKittens I get it, but it’s not that scary. It’s one of those modern “post-horrors” that is more psychological and what not. And also, I chose the horror films I see very carefully so they are not riddled with jump scares.
@@Roflmaolinde if a horror has so many jump scares and you know it’s coming just isn’t a good horror.

That is an EXCELLENT series on Netflix. Can't recommend it enough.
Hold on, that guy was Dudley?! Goodness what a change, and now I know why he looked so familiar!
so Harry Melling ... the guy who played Beltik ... was also Dudley ? wow! I didn't recognize him at all! Now, looking at the pictures, yes, i see it loud and clear, but it's a lot to do with his acting as well. Those two character are different, but not exact opposites. He played both very well, believable and genuine, which is commendable, because the mannerisms are so different that it had never occurred to me beforehand to connect the two to have one actor. Amazing!
I love it when an actor has not only acting skills but can portray their characters with different mannerisms, so many have the same movement styles in basically every role they are in, as if always playing themselves. But Harry is King! And he's 30 years old now, yeah, but around 12 when playing Dudley... such a gem - born with talent and has polished himself with practice, i bet!
He is pretty good in The Old Guard and Devil all the Time Netflix's movies
ARGENTINA 🇦🇷❤
OMG didn't know she 🇦🇷
Wow!! So that is how fancy I would have sounded if my mom would have chosen the UK instead of the US to take me to. Wonder if her mom packed her Milanesa sandwiches before getting on the plane as well😂
@ArgChica Thank you, I had never heard of the Sándwich de milanesa before your comment, and it looks/sounds tasty. I will search out some recipes and try to make it. Do you have any tips for a rookie? Any special secrets about them only Argentinians know that you want share?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A1ndwich_de_milanesa
In case you don't know, but "Milanesa" originates from "Milanese" in italian, which means "from milan" (Milan is an Italian city).
It's one of the traditional food from Milan: it's a veal slice covered in bread crumbs and fried with butter.
I find it beautiful how a culture can mix with another due to migrations and history. 🤗
@@SigDanumVid And when fried breaded veal made it to the U.S.South, it became chicken fried steak.
Of course, the ultimate origins are with the schnitzels of Austria and Bavaria.
Just to add a little to your migrations/history story. 🤗
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@SigDanumVid we don't frie it in butter, usually we frie the milanesa in corn oil. You have to choose a tender meat and slice like half centimeter (correct me if I'm wrong) and some people smash the slice of meat to tenderize more. Then you put eggs condimented with minced garlic and parsley and then you coat it in breadcrumbs and you frie them like a potato chip. You can do it with pork meat, or chicken also. Sorry my English 😋
SHE NEEDS TO BE IN THE LOTR TV SERIES AS AN ELF.
She's got a remarkably clean accent. I can't pick up on much of anything coming through when she's speaking English.
I'm from Edinburgh in Scotland. She's sounds like some of my friends. Apparently her dad is Scottish so it makes sense
She's been in the UK since she was 6 years old and she also has British grandparents on both sides of her family.

When she wasn't really well known she used to say all the time she was argentine but later on she stopped.
I think her manager advised her not to say that anymore because she works in the USA and she was born in Miami. But to be fair, she was born there because her father( who is Argentine) was working there and she moved to Buenos Aires right away. Also she has family in Argentina and the UK( because of her father's and mother's ancestry) but she didn't have family in America.
Sometimes when they interview her you can see that she wants to mention her first language is Spanish because she is not really "allowed" to say where she is from. So for all those who are annoyed by her repeating that, I guess you should understand it's her way to say it without saying it.
No digas pavadas
nah she didnt stopped saying she's argentine especially in her recent interviews with her new popularity. Anya always seems proud of her argentine roots. i've noticed she just doesnt say it when people dont ask about it or they dont talk to her in spanish
So...... I'm in love😍
Who else is stuck in the never ending loop of The Graham Norton show 👀
Yes, but, isn't it fab... 🤭
Anya is so brilliant and beautiful, my god
Anya taylor joy have been in good films and tv series and really performs great. I dont know how some of you guys just know her because of queens gambit
I thought she was wonderful in Emma! Tbh the first time I saw her was in the music video "Dinners & Diatribes" by Hozier, and she was amazing!
Tan bella como buena actriz 😍, proud of her Argentine roots, 💪🏻🇦🇷
Arguably the best actor of her generation. Just a marvelous creative mind.
Another great dais. ✌🏾🤟🏾
Thank you Graham for inspiring me to start my own UA-cam channel.❤️
I hope people who've seen the Queen's Gambit go back and see her in Emma, Split, Thoroughbreds, and the Witch. She's already done a lot of great work and it's pretty clear a lot of the most talented writers and directors really want to work with her. Big things ahead no doubt. She's also otherworldly beautiful and talented, which helps.
I didn't care for that version of Emma. ATJ was really good in it, of course she always is. Especially the nosebleed part. But that interpretation made everyone... really bitchy. Very unlikeable characters in general.
Anya is perfection personified
yo she hella cute
I mean, most children born around that time who didn't have English as a native language, learned by reading Harry Potter.

Anya has British grandparents on both sides of her family - did she not have some knowledge of English before she was 8?
Anya would be perfect in Fantastic Beasts!
She’s the same as me! I too learnt sentence structure and proper grammer from repeated readings of the Harry Potter books.
Ooooh anya is such a sweetheart
My son's first English book was also Harry Potter.
Best way to learn English
Watch a Comedy Show if you laugh
You understand English ✌️
@DM87 I did that when I moved to Holland to learn Dutch. But pretty soon, I realised I was just laughing at Dutch people rather than actually learning the language.

Anya has a Scottish accent.
Hilaria Baldwin is shook.
😂🤣😂🤣 Best comment ever.
If you're insinuating what I believe you are, I say this: How so? Anya's parents grew up in Argentina, Anya was raised in Argentina, her whole family lives in Argentina, she has Argentine citizenship, her first language is Spanish, which she speaks and writes fluently with a strong Argentine accent. She identifies as an Argentine, who moved to London but was born in the US as a causality. Don't compare her to Hilaria Baldwin. Like there's nothing to compare.

I couldn’t warm up to her in Emma, and I only watched the Queen’s Gambit to confirm why I didn’t like her. Epic failure on my part. I was quite dazzled by her. She is truly gifted.
I first heard of her from a film called Morgan. Her performance in The Queen's Gambit was incredible. She's got one hell of career ahead of her.
I hated Emma when I was 18, but by the time I was 40 I thought she was adorable.

Was that a flex? because it's weird as flex. It makes you sound like you cant read
@@leardillamutante I can read, I just don't read fiction. I learned "English" in Australia. It wasn't meant to be a flex, not at all. I was jesting that because the film franchise is so popular (and half were created before the later books were written) that reading the books is quite unnecessary. I'm sure they contain more sub plots and detail, but circa 15 hours to enact the primary plots seems adequate for my appetite.
