I've honestly never understood why people think this given that this kind of drumming is pretty common in extreme metal! Shuhei is a great drummer!
Draco knight well their drums on Ode to the Dreadful Sacrament were actually programmed but Shuhei can absolutely play them so it really doesn't matter in the long run lol.
Shuhei joined ICDD in early 2015. Before that, they released their two albums and their first EP.
So yes,

ARE made without real drums, since they had no other drummer before Shuhei (, aside of SHIMO, but he never participated in any release and left quickly again).
However, that's not anything I deem negatively, it just shows what a beast Hull (their synthesizer) and ICDD is.
You can prove it for yourself quite easily, if you compare the drum sounds of those above with their 2nd EP (腐蝕ルサンチマン、不死欲の猿楽座。).
The difference in sound is quite big.

These are insanely impressive, but did people really think there wasn't a human out there who could play these drums?
There are plenty of metal drummers that are just as fast, such as Flo Mounier, Alex Bent, Inferno of Behemoth, and Kai Hahto, and a few that are even faster, such as Kevin Paradis, Spencer Pruitt, and Dominator Fjellstrom. People shouldn’t be so quick to assume that the drums are programmed because they’re ludicrously fast.
