  • In this review, I'm going to take a look at another beer from the WeldWerks Brewing Company (‪@weldwerksbrewingco‬), and it's their Maibock. This is a German-style Maibock that I've never had before, but I enjoy the style, so I'm excited to give it a go. Let's see how it is! I also want to give a huge thanks to my buddy, and viewer of the channel, Curtis (‪@curtisbrause9255‬), for this beer!

      Noice, Gregory! That is probably one of my favorite Maibocks. I need to review more of the authentic German Maibocks, honestly. Might need to grab one or two before the end of the year. Thanks, brother!
      Cheers!

    I can not remember the last time I have seen a Maibock. 75 finger head 🤣 High alcohol beers that are well done and hide the alcohol well are dangerous. This sounds great and is a nice gift beer. Always great to end on a high note!

      LOL! Yeah, it's not a style a lot of breweries kick out, so it's always cool. Definitely a scary drinkable beer.
      Cheers, man!

      If you see it, give it a go. I enjoy the style, but I don't drink it enough. I think you'd like it, but maybe not love it.

    I'd pay 3.75 a can for a Maibock if I regularly bought singles since its not a style I can easily get. Thats cheap compared to these 6 and 7 dollar cans of more popular, more experimental styles. Even if the Maibock isnt top shelf its still a good deal. Doesnt seem like its a hard style to mess up and not get right.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  3 місяці тому

      Yeah, I think the $12-14/four pack range for the style is appropriate. I wouldn't want to pay much more than that as I can get authentic German Maibocks for similar prices. This was well-made and enjoyable, though.
      Cheers, Chaz!

    Just score a 4pak of abomination rare snack. Don't know if you have reviewed this one since it's so new but it is outrageous! It's not as perfect as Basic Rebecca from Prairie but I am curious to see what you think!😂

    Hey bud.. I'm gonna be in the New York area from July 24th to the 29th and was hoping to grab some to-go beer at Troon (I'll be going to Fiden's on a separate day of the trip and a few breweries within New York). Question: On which day(s) do they sell to-go cans and what time of day should I get there? I messaged them directly but wanted your thoughts/suggestions. Cheers!

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  3 місяці тому

      I've never been to Troon, and the only thing I've heard about their sales is that it's very random and sudden. They just post on IG that they have beer available and that's it. I think they sometimes mention if they're going to release something the day, and then post a link to pre-order it. Outside of that, it's a guessing game. Maybe folks who go there all the time have a better idea, though.
      Cheers, Byrne!

    Hey glad you liked it overall! I think I liked this one a bit more than you did but we aren’t going to have perfect alignment on everything. Haha.
    I’m glad you remarked on the drinkability of this because I also felt like it had such a lack of alcohol astringency for the ABV. Unless I missed it I think you’ve still got the OEC Maibock that Stephen sent. I liked this Weldwerks version quite a bit but from my memory I enjoyed the OEC better, but I’ve only had it once like 2 years ago. Just not a style you see a lot of.
    I think on the box as a whole I expected you to enjoy the Murder Ballads the best which seemed to be true. The Side Pull was also about as expected and glad I was able to get you a can of that one. I had my last can of Side Pull last weekend and while it was still very good it lost a bit of its floral punch from the hops which kind of makes sense after like 4 months or whatever it’s been since they canned it.
    It felt like the Hoof Hearted beer was the big shock for both of us, enough that I went out of my way to get a can for myself and glad I did. It was delicious. By the way, that Everybody Wants Some Sabro I had another can and while still good, it didn’t have that massive coconut punch from when I had it super fresh unfortunately.

    • @averagejoe716

      Yeah, you liked it a bit more than me, but we both enjoyed it. Definitely can't align perfectly on everything, like you said!
      The drinkability was ridiculous for a 7.2% ABV Maibock, IMO. Not even remotely noticeable. You could take down a four pack with ease and then pay for it later, haha! That OEC beer I'm reviewing tonight, actually, and posting it next weekend. I'm curious to see how it compares to this one.
      I think your assessment is correct. The Murder Ballads and Hoof Hearted beers were my favorite. Also liked the DankHouse beer a ton, as well. Side Pull was tasty, but I could see how it'd fall off after that many months. I loved trying everything you sent, so I thank you for all of the beer. It's always a blast trying new breweries and some local favorites. Thoroughly enjoyed it all!
      Cheers, Curtis!

      @@averagejoe716 Hey no problem sending those. It was a lot of fun watching you review them. I’ve said it plenty of times already but I just knew once I tried that Murder Ballads you were gonna love it. Haha. I’m also glad you liked the Dankhouse beer because they went under appreciated by me and a lot of people for a while since it’s a bit of a drive outside the city. They make some really nice hazies though.
      I’ll be excited to see that OEC. From my memory it has a much lighter appearance but still plenty of Munich malt goodness in there. You don’t have to comment on it and give away the review though. 😂 Definitely a style I wish I saw more of. It feels like a hybrid between a Pilsner and Bock to me with more alcohol. They’re good.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 місяці тому +1

      That DankHouse beer definitely came out of left field, but I'm glad it did. Firmly on the radar. That Murder Ballads was fantastic, and now Noble Beast is a brewery that I need to try more from.
      I'll keep my lips closed outside of saying I compared it to the WeldWerks in the review quite a bit, just because it was so fresh in my memory. Probably shouldn't have, but I do that a lot when I have a style that I don't drink much, and I review a few in a short period of time. The review will be posted next Saturday.

      @@averagejoe716 I’d do the same and compare too if I’d just had another Maibock recently. Plus it’s not like there are a ton of Maibocks to try. If you reviewing an IPA or stout you probably wouldn’t think to compare it to one you just had because you have them all the time.
      I’ve been thoroughly impressed with everything from Noble Beast and kind of wish I would have sent you that Barleywine now. It was really good although as I said I’m a noob to English Barleywines. Everyone on Untappd seemed to love it too though. I’ll say their IPAs are pretty good but really kind of a hybrid between a West Coast and a NE IPA. Not a full on thick body or huge flavor but still solid. All the old world styles they seem to nail though.

    • @averagejoe716
      @averagejoe716  2 місяці тому +1

      I think it makes sense if you have them that closely together. Just nature of the beast, IMO.
      Noble Beast = great from the two you sent me. I would've loved to try that Barleywine, for sure. Maybe they'll release it again at some point, or if I ever get down to the brewery, maybe I'll be able to grab it on tap.
