The fact that this plays in precipice makes me kind of sad. It's the connection between Pebbles and Moon, and in my eye it's both literal and symbolic. Taking into account how much trust Moon put into Pebbles before resorting to forced communications, how much it cost her, and then seeing the precipice slowly be reduced to only one single dead end... It hurts to think about. Sure is a trusted component, huh?
Rain World has established very early on that it's not about you, or the slugcat you play as. Instead, you were only there as an observer, being told the story of two sibling Gods through the environment itself. The large majority of Rain World's storytelling resides not only in pearls, communications between Iterators or dialogue, but witnessing the world around you change from the whims of two beings far beyond your understanding. In Spearmaster, the difference between Pebbles' and Moon's 'Random Gods' is beautiful. Pebbles complex radiates irritation, a desperation, and the music reflects this by using especially harsh mechanical noises, disjointed melodies, and incredibly rapid notes. It sings his wrath, desperation, regret, and loneliness. Moon's, however, is far more orderly. There's a sense of calm or wisdom within it, the melodies sing together and do not change pace rapidly. It sounds far more grandiose than Pebbles', reflecting her status as a senior. And yet, there is a strong feeling of tension, of dread heard within the almost clock-like ticking that plays constantly, a reminder that her time is limited. Both pieces are utterly overwhelming and loud despite their differences, reflecting the fact that these Gods are so much bigger than you, in every sense of the word. The simple act of their breathing changes the very earth around them. Sorry, I really went off on a tangent here lol. I just haven't found any other form of media that's done this as well as Rain World.
When i first heard this song on the Precipice, i spotted Moon and Suns' overseers touching tendrils to communicate. Id like to think that was Suns trying to reassure Moon everything would be okay, despite both of them knowing otherwise
They're often called gods, but this bridge seems like a memento mori. After Artificer's campaign, the precipice becomes a dead end only serving to remind the player that nothing lasts forever.
When the beat kicks in it’s jittery and unorganized. It really captures what moon must be feeling at this point of the timeline: panicked and frantically searching for a way to make pebbles stop what he’s doing before it’s too late.
When I hear this I always imagine Spearmaster or Artificer looking down from the precipice at the rest of the world and having a moment of calm reflection
Moon and Pebbles’ relationship and story makes me want to bawl my eyes out man 😭 Pebs hurt her so much for such a selfish reason, and gained nothing in the end with her sacrifice. And yet, Moon still forgave him after all those cycles of isolation. I admire that a lot. Despite everything, she was able to move on.
To me, this is Spearmaster's theme. Embodies the feeling of being on a mission, with time being of the essence. Also, SRS had to put a great deal of trust in their messenger, as did Moon.
This one is just... so atmospheric. I really *felt* it when I wandered into The Precipice for the first time. This might be my favorite soundtrack from Downpour for that reason.
This was one of the few songs that made me just take a minute and just pause. This one and the one that plays in the Spearmaster Arena unlock room (I have no clue what it’s called)
this song feels like it has the most impact as Spearmaster, because it represents the player's knowledge of what happens to Moon and Five Pebbles (if you beat rivulet first), their fates due to their misplaced trust and desperate actions, respectively

I love that this specifically plays when journeying towards Pebbles, away from moon, in the very specific room in precipice that’s underwent the most extensive amount of Damage. This is the theme of a failing support structure, both literally and metaphorically, the theme of a boy who’s pushing everyone away. We know exactly how this ends, and there’s no way to help, beyond holding a funeral for the one person who could possibly even get close to him.

I agree. Makes you feel bad for Moon even more.
This music has exactly this feeling to it.
Basically a giant bridge? Idk i don’t have the dlc because it’s not out for switch yet
@@mandiesmith5483 Yeah. The Precipice is a long bridge that connected Five Pebbles and Looks to the Moon while she was still standing.
@@mandiesmith5483 kinda like chimney canopy but more *wirey* and it connects moon and fp

This played during a cycle failure, the song mixed with the rain made an atmosphere so beautiful and haunting.

It is so sad that the trusted component, the connection between the two iterators, is the first to break down, symbolising their falling apart.

One thing I noticed, that I haven't seen anyone mention, Moon's overseers are way bigger in her pre-colapse state
really? can you get an image to confirm that? sounds awesome, but i don't pay enough attention to the overseers to notice that =P

I don't know where to publish the photos though
