If you found this video helpfull and it saved you spending a lot of money at a main dealer or garage then I would be really grateful if you could drop me a wee donation using the super thanks button and help me make more of these videos. Thank you all, Dave.
Thanks for sharing Faster story I love beetle so so much. I want buy one and restore it soon. I had 1966 when I was young had to sell need money at the time. That was painful my uncle still has my 1966 beetle. Again awesoome video. Never get rid of Fester.
i liked the show that you presented with your beetle, it makes me work harder at getting mine done and hopefully transport back to the U.K for one of the shows!
My compliments, a lot of time, work and money. I know, I did it 3 times because I have 3 of them: a 1967 sedan, sunroof and convertible. That full-collapsing radio antenna is a nice option. I think the red interior was a good choice. My understanding is that the 1967 European Beetle still had the glass headlight covers, whereas the USA versions had just the sealed beam. You must be glad it's finished.
Thanks. Thats my second Beetle as well as a '72 camper and a '70 Type3 fastback. I keep saying never again but before I know it another project arrives. Cant wait for summer to get it out again. In 1967 the 1300 and 1500 got the upright headlamps similar to the US (though not sealed beam) but this car being a 1200 and the cheapest in the range it retained the sloping headlamps and 5 bolt wheels.
Awesome project nice restoration and the video production was very good as well. The little shots like the gas filter filling and dropping in the gas tank down in to position take time to setup but show an eye for detail. Kudos all the way around
This old girl was in rough shape, makes me appreciate how good a shape my 69 is, you people did an amazing job, saved this little car from the scrap yard, you should be proud.
Fantastic, I can't remember if I've commented before, but the paint on this car is amazing! I'm restoring a black '67 myself and hope the paint turns out that nice!
All credit goes to the painter I hired on that one. He spent hours getting it right and was particularly obsessed about getting the GPR wings to look as flawless as possible.
i love the dedication of these young peoples to restore and old legend like volkwagen Beetle, did you know this was the first car i ever drove with my dad?? the amazing snorring sounds of the boxerengine is a legend, and the beating heart of evry volkwagen , Van , or beetle ...good job and a tremendous award of satisfaction to drive and restore these cars, congratulation, from a fan of Belgium
WOW! What a thoroughly enjoyable video to watch, so much rot and an astonishing amount of work and hours gone in to your beautiful car. How lovley to see the finished product. All your hard work and effort rewarded with the best in show prize, well deserved. Wishing you many years and miles of happiness with Fester
I restored fully a vw beetle 1964, it is wonderful when you are working during the project, I have so many people who like the car and they want buy it, I love this beetle before I had a 1973 beetle but I was a fool and sell it. When the vw factory in Mexico fabricated the last beetle 2003 year model, I could buy one of them but I prefer restore the 1964 because this is a classic really. I must tell spended a lot of money during the restore more than the 2003 new cost version, after all I am very happy with my beetle it is unique and it is really a part of me.
Great video! I especially liked it when the owners didn’t quit after they let Fester sit for a couple of years, but continued to work on Fester when most people would have thrown in the towel after letting a restoration project sit that long. On thing I would like to do sometime is buy some old rust bucket right hand drive Beetle from the U.K., bring it home here to the U.S., and build it into a show winner! 😊
Gorgeous! Winning the "Best Paint" award is quite an achievement, Volkswagens of this vintage came finished from the factory with paint quality equal to (some say better than) that of Rolls Royce. I think it was the dipping. My family history with these vehicles goes back to 1944 (long story) but my favorite was our '66. Yours reminds me so much of that car, and your video took me back in time. I was 3, and mom would let me ride in the luggage well behind the rear seat when we weren't in traffic. Couldn't legally do that these days, but it was the 60s. Thanks for posting such a great video!
Great video, beautiful bug and very inspiring as I am currently restoring my '73 Beetle which is also black with red upholstery. Hoping to attend Volksfling 2021 with luck.
Great work on a beautiful beetle, I'm not an expert or anything but I've always liked beetles since my brother had a few when I was young. Never took the gamble to get one cos I don't know my way around an engine like yourself. Plus I prefer the year you have.👍👍
EXCELLENT ! AMAZING JOB ! WELL DONE ! GIVING A OLD VW BEETLE HAVE NEW LIFE, FROM THE PERFECTIONAL OLD VW BEETLE FANS ( OWNERS ) WITH PASSION AND LOVE REBUILD THIS OLD VW BEETLE, SHOULD BE CAN DRIVING A LONG LONG TIME ! BUT ONE THING CAN NOT CHANGE IS OLD BEETLE ALWAYS CAN MAKE SOME FUN AND WHEN YOU DRIVE ! MAY BE NOT SO FAST, BUT IS FUN AND JOY ! TURN ON THE RADIO PLAY SOME OLD JAZZ, SOME GOOD OLD SONG, DRIVING EASY AND EASY LIVING ! THAT'S DRIVING OLD BEETLE SO 'BOUT !
Excellent video and car. Congratulations. Something to keep for ever. I'd never have the patience or skill to do anything like that, but it's whetted my appetite to throw some money in the direction of someone who has!
G’day and greetings from Tasmania Australia well done with “Fester” he looks absolutely terrific! I had a super bug years ago and it was one of the best cars I owned thank you for doing the time lapse of his restoration kind regards John
BTJustice no we get the same weather black ice, snow ect but we don’t use salt instead they use grit very fine gravel and that works well but can scratch you car along the rocker panels.
You are right, its the salt that does the damage and here in Scotland they now add a sugar compound to make the salt stick to the road. As you can imagine it means that the sald now sticks to cars even worse and dogs like to lick the road so double hazzard.

Great video, enjoy Fester in his fresh new life!
Awesome project nice restoration and the video production was very good as well. The little shots like the gas filter filling and dropping in the gas tank down in to position take time to setup but show an eye for detail. Kudos all the way around
Beautiful restoration! I had a 1967 powder blue bug with a white interior. We restored it and eventually sold it. I miss that car.

This old girl was in rough shape, makes me appreciate how good a shape my 69 is, you people did an amazing job, saved this little car from the scrap yard, you should be proud.
A respectful and loving restoration, well done to all involved.
Thanks Tim, as I get older I think I prefer stock restoration to a good standard over custom and gimmicks.
Congratulations! That was great. How cool. Jojo must love cruising Fester around after that resto.
Enjoyed it thoroughly. Have loved Beetles since the Love Bug movies when we were kids! Thanks!
Congrats to you for the Beetle restoration.
I’m from Brazil.

Thanks James. I wasnt allowed to give up or it would have been divorce and doing up the car was a cheaper option.

I bought a brand new 67 VW bug for 1400 dollars at the end of the 37 model year. it had two options.. deluxe seat covers, and a push button am radio.
Está muy bonito ese vocho

Excellent video and car. Congratulations. Something to keep for ever. I'd never have the patience or skill to do anything like that, but it's whetted my appetite to throw some money in the direction of someone who has!

Thanks John, I bet in Tasmania you don't have the same rust issues we get here? 😄
