I feel like one thing that happened for the majority of people over the pandemic was they were forced to slow down. And at first it was hard but I think now that so many of us are back to working regularly we have realized how necessary it was to slow down. And I think we miss it. Coming back to work consistently has been such a struggle and I find myself and others more burned out than usual!

Teaching is definitely more challenging than ever, I've been teaching 14 yrs and this is by far the toughest year ever. Every time I turn around they are putting a new demand on us, my plate is literally already overflowing. It is not sustainable long term, I am at school until 6:00 four nights a week just to maintain my classroom. Thanks for touching on it Jess! Great video!

I do understand that you have chosen to remove yourself from a lot of PR. Would you please consider sharing with us which brands you decided to keep receiving their products? I really respect your ethical choices when it comes to makeup products so I'm definitely curious to know which companies you decided to stay on board with.

I agree. I find myself of late actually getting angry with some of the really big PR hogs out there who show off their drawers, closets and cabinets full of duplicative, unopened, luxury products they can never use before they expire, but still won't refuse, nor pass along for others to share. There are so many women's organizations out there who would be so grateful to accept those products for women in need of a boost in their lives.

@@neresq I understand having stuff is a part of some of these people’s jobs but it is actually kind of gross to watch the scale of things these people are obtaining. Like does one person really need 30 coats for the winter???

@@neresq I completely agree with you. There are a couple popular beauty youtubers that I have actually unsubscribed from because I have been upset over those videos. Yes, I understand it is "their job" and they receive things for free...they might not be spending thousands of dollars on makeup themselves. However, they can ask to be removed from companies they don't really believe in, truly love their products etc. Instead of seeing a video titled "HUGE PR HAUL..LOOK AT ALL THIS MAKEUP I HAVE AND DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT 1/4 OF IT IS...OR HOW MUCH OF THIS HAS EXPIRED "...I know that is an exaggeration but it's what I feel like when I see that. I would so much rather know that those products went to smaller creators who may not be on any pr lists that maybe they could make a few extra videos showcasing those products or donated to womens shelters to women who have had to leave their makeup behind when escaping an abusive living environment etc. In this world of so much excess, I just wish they would pass things along to others who would actually benefit from it.

My husband and I moved from NYC to South Florida when we were newlyweds 40 years ago to escape winter and city life. But, increasingly over the past few years, we have grown really tired of dealing with the 3 H's: hurricanes, heat and humidity, all of which have greatly intensified due to climate change. Our visits to one of our sons in Chicago have led us to conclude that we want/need to experience the change of seasons (and city life) again and so we are actually planning to reverse-retire northbound within the next few years.

Your comment about not worrying so much about what you do that makes you money was spot on! It is a means to the end, not " the end". Our relationships during good or bad times are really what our focus should be on. Work will always be just that- work! We should strive to have a positive outlook and do things that are not damaging to us physically and mentally- by all means, if your work is harming you, do all you can to find a better fit. But, work should not define us. I would rather be remembered for the way I treated people, wherever I am. And those are the people that have touched my life the most!

I love what you said about work and what it provides . I think it’s hard to ,sometimes, keep your work registered as a small part of who you are bc we spend so much of our time working. And many many many many simply work bc they have to not bc there’s any joy in it. So when you work 40-60 hours a week and hate the job you do feel so empty. (And that’s in no way a dish to you you work extremely hard at a job that can be just as exhausting!!) what you said though is true! Trying to leave work at work and finding the deep joys of your family, faith, volunteering whatever it is is soooo important bc the fact is we might not ever find joy in our work. That doesn’t mean our day to day life has to be empty and hallow!!Thank you for sharing!

I am so happy for you, Jessica. You having an editor and being able to breathe and be yourself really comes through in your videos; I can see it in your eyes. Obviously I watch every video you do, and I really appreciate all of your different styles of videos. You have a natural talent for this and I hope you keep doing it. What is coffee without Jessica?

As a Korean American, I’ve always loved how Korean movies are SO dark but Korean TV dramas are so bubbly cute. I’m so glad Squid Game is introducing the darker side of Korean tv/movie themes to a wide audience. There’s such a lot of talented directors! If you like Squid Game, I think you’d all love Parasite (the Oscar winning movie).

Is it ridiculous that I watched 1 year of vlogmas and now I feel like it’s apart of my Christmas tradition?! ESP during covid when we couldn’t do a lot, I was able to escape and get in the Christmas season because of your videos even when I couldn’t see my own family and friends. Can’t wait!

When I work in an office I HATED the air conditioning in summer. I would dress to be warm in the office but then would almost pass out from the heat driving home. And I hate freezing while grocery shopping.

Planning to move to FL in one year. Praying I don’t lose the Disney magic being closer. Thank you for the honesty. Going to guard against it. Noticing all the people in the comments who agree. Also, you nailed it talking about Disney’s idea of families enjoying time together. It’s still the most exciting place to go for both parents and kids, faults and all, hands down!

We moved from FL to NC and we were not prepared. We had no coats, gloves, or anything you wear when it's below 60. Well, on the drive up there we ran into a sleet storm. What the heck. Soo my grandpa drove our car and grandma drove theirs. We stop at the nearest store which was a Walmart. Lol. Grandma and grandpa saved us and started piling clothes in the cart but wait they're buggies now. Lol so with in an hour we had a good chunk of what we will need for the seasons as they changes. We make it in and we were so cold. Even with the new gear. They only had wall heaters and a Heat in the living room that was a big box I still don't know how it heated. No heat in the bedrooms but... they new we would need it so we each go a plug in heater and an electric blanket. I remember the first day of school after the new year break. I always picked my outfit the nigh before. I was only in 2nd grade. I had to fit in. My grandpa would put my clothed on top of the big box heater. Then he made me soft boiled eggs and toast and OJ. Then he would plug in the electric heater and make just enough space to have it rest in the window slit of the window so after my awesome breakfast and putying on my warm clothes. I was climbing into a warm car ready to go to school. My grandpa was such a loving man. I was his little girl. We drove 5 house down the road and pulled into the school parkinglot. Yup he did this every morning just to get me 5 houses down. Until I stated riding the middle school bus. When I got home grandma would have cookies or brownies baked and hot chocolate. Even single day. Me and my grandpa were so close. I could go to him with anything and he'd just listen until I was finished the ask "can I say something that may help?" Of course and he would give excellent advice. Or he would just let me cry with no explanation. Or read the Bible. When I was finsh he would take me out for ice-cream. God I miss my grandpa. He's in heaven planting the best garden and teaching children all kinds of things.
Sorry, I just couldn't stop writing once I said one thing. To anyone who read this whole thing, thank you. It means alot.

Can I say how much I love how your channel is more lifestyle videos. I started watching you years ago when I was just getting into makeup. But now at 31 I kind of know the brands I like and how I like to do my makeup. So lots of channels I use to love l just aren't for me anymore but its nice when the channel evolves with you. Not saying there is something wrong with channels that just do makeup . It just not the channels I enjoy anymore.

Great chat - about Florida...I feel the same way (live in CT) but I have family in NC and what they have said is...while we lived in CT, no one ever had the expectation of having outside events, or wonderful weather in January or February - the joy there was being cozy at home, hot chocolate, blankets and more blankets...Well, now that they live in NC, the same holds true - sort of...in July and August they slow down, and enjoy being home...morning walks, evening dinners outside...Just a shift in thinking.

Ok. I live in an area where we get days without the sun shining, and I come from a very sunny place like even when it’s super cold. I get depressed every year around this time because that’s when it starts. You don’t know how thankful I am that you mentioned “happy light” in this video! I never knew it existed. I am ordering one and hoping from the bottom of my heart it works!
