Fires are no joke. They look easy to control and put out but they are not. I'm no fireman, but in the Army they gave us a similar demonstration and I learned first hand that fires are very difficult to put out once they spread.

It seems the best way to plan and prepare for fire is to build 2 rooms exactly alike. From the looks of it that 2nd room was completely untouched.

I use to be a vol. FF/EMT. Flash overs happen in seconds and are very dangerous.

    • @bennywhite7062

But Flash overs are the easiest to recognize and avoid. It's not like you will ever be surprised by a flash over and have no clue it was coming. In regard to the human life aspect flash overs are the safest and least likely to cause death in residential homes(several floor buildings on the other hand are another story), by the time conditions are right to cause a flash over nobody will be in that room, at least not conscious anyway(but those people are already doomed, the flash over isn't to blame for their death).
They are the most dangerous in multi-floor and office building. If you are on floor 5 or 6 and a couple flash overs happen in a couple rooms on floor 1 or 2.... You are in some very serious trouble. Not just from the fire obviously but the chances of a floor collapse triples. Flash overs in small indoor concert venues are absolutely terrifying, even if only 1 floor. Fire and panic do not mix well with one another but panic and flash overs is heII on Earth.

When he got done spraying the flames, he went back to watering the garden... And where do I pick up one of those systems that puts the fire out without spraying everything with water? That was badass

Doesn’t it change the dynamics and fire behavior when you remove one of the walls? Yes I know it gives the fire more oxygen, but it also lets a lot of heat, smoke, and gases escape that would normally be trapped in the room.

Now if all the walls were closed in imagine how explosive that room would be, this is why firefighters do ventilation (cutting holes in the roof, breaking windows, etc to help relieve that pressure

    Hi,
My name is Kai Xiao and I am a student researching fire detection based on object detection algorithms.
Specifically, I am working on a project that involves detecting fires from video footage. To train my model, I need a large amount of fire data.
May I have your permission to use your videos as part of my training data?
    Thank you very much!
    Best regards,
    Kai Xiao

Time this. How long did the first chair take to become fully involved? Then time how long the second chair took. That is an indication of just how hot it was. Remember that it was open fronted. Had all that heat and fire gas been contained it would have been horrendous. Consider also the very low fire loading in the compartment two chairs and a few items look around your own front room and consider the fire load in there

Furniture foam is all you need. Firefighters call it "solid gasoline" because it readily transforms into highly flammable gas when heated.
