It’s honestly, like an old school bike. Something from a bygone era when bikes were just bikes and 50hp was just normal. Now it can be modified to almost anything you want with an unending supply of aftermarket support. A vast array of Hammer performance modifications can take you past 120hp if so desired. Or just a fun, casual, old school cruiser that looks sharp, handles good, and still turns lots of heads. I ride mine with a small windscreen, a sissy bar, passenger pillion, swing arm bag, and stock engine and pipes and still get tons of compliments and looks everywhere I go. Especially when I’m all decked out in my Harley gear. Fun bike for sure.
I own a 2017.. Just a really fun bike. No doubt. These 883's are a "real" motorcycle. You get up to 65-70 you feel it. I've found that these are best for curvy back roads at 45.. Definitely fun..
Bought a used 2022 Iron in May with 1,256 miles on it. Loving it so far. My first HD. Oh and in the video, HD salesman did a no-no. The white van waiting to make a U-turn had the right of way and he just pulled right on out. This happens where I live daily and I asked a cop once.
Hey JNM, you answered each of my questions, and, a few I didn't realize I had!👍 Nice style of presentation of the motorcycle. Now I can go into a Harley-Davidson dealer with confidence of what want, and, will properly meet my motoring needs!👍👍🏍️⭐⭐⭐🐻 Doug
The sportster iron 883 is very basic, outdated, crude, rough, rugged and a motorcycle of the bygone era. In spite of it, people loves it. This motorcycle will be relevant for all eternity…
I bought a 2019 Iron 883 and I have always been a sport bike rider. I have a ninja as well and I haven't rode my Ninja in over a year. Two different riding styles for sure
Good review brother. If we can remember bikes are purpose built and get two or three we'll all be better off. It's a decent bike with a tach in the digital display. Has self cancelling blinkers somewhat inexpensive and people love the Iron
The canceling turns are a kicker, eh? Other than maintenance and a few bulbs here and there, my only repair was on my 86 sporty was a leaking brake sender unit. My other 4 had no repairs at all. Very reliable machines, indeedy. My only real complaint is the bugs get in my remaining teeth. I have a 1200 iron but I would not hesitate to add another 883 to my mix
solid review. It is a shame he did not know about the Tac that is built in. ( gotta click a button) and At least he "gets" the vibration. I love mine, nothing beats it.
It is a shame I didn't get to see the tach, it really reflects poorly on 1. the salesman I had, 2. my inexperience with Harley's user interface and 3. my video. But in no way did it change my overall experience or impressions of the bike. I definitely "get" the engine vibes!
I guess you were lucky that the sales guy was willing to take the time to go out with you at all, but I thought he was pretty condescending and if they had told me "guide or no ride" then I would have told them to piss off. I've been on lots of test rides and also went to those big "ride days" that go around the dealerships every year and I never once had to ride with an employee. I bought a 2009 Sportster 1200 Custom new and was hooked, still riding it daily to work.
This dealer is Crystal Harley Davidson in Homosassa FL. I really don’t know why they do the guided rides. Maybe it was just for me; they could have been concerned I was going to abuse the bike? They asked what I currently rode. I really don’t know. The “fit specialist” lol really put me off though by being incredibly pushy. They quoted me a price of just under $13k and I had had enough. I really enjoyed riding the bike but since this video I’ve become more interested in the 48 which I tried negotiating a price for a 2022 and Crystal wouldn’t put the effort in and they lost a sale. They truly are a foolish dealership. I may try again next spring or just buy an xdiavel. I’m so used to Ducati anyway and they have been rock solid reliable.
I am so torn between this and the Indian scout. 43 years old 5 foot 8 210lbs novice dirt bike rider coming from 250cc 2 strokes, but this is my first street bike any thoughts
I pick a bike based on if I can picture myself riding it and enjoying how it looks static, then performance followed by reliability. I truly enjoyed the 883 and found it to a lot of fun. I have never ridden the scout. You have a tough choice, I like Indian better but the Harley is what I gravitate toward. Weird right? Doesn't make any sense? I know! A lot of times what looks best in the form of specs and makes the most sense on paper isn't the best choice in motorcycling. Just my perspective feel free to flush it and chose what you value.
@@theAverageAmericanTroy Yup. They'll still think you have an 883. The only downside is that if it gets totaled you won't be getting the money you spent on the upgrade. Slight tradeoff.
I sold my goldwing, bought a stage one tuned 2004 883.Put a Memphis shades detachable windshield on it, saddleman seat, I absolutely love ghe damn thing! i can ride all day easily at any speed. I will NEVER sell this bike. It's just plain FUN!
@@jetninjamonkey agree 100%! Bought the 883 last Sept cuz i liked the look much better than 1200. Doing stage 1 now & Hammer Performance in 6 months to a yr. Fun bike to ride!
A 2020 an still with No Tachometer! Harley needs to stop bear boned bikes waiting for new owners to have to add on at ten cents on the dollar! My 86' Yamaha Venture had all bells an whistles compared to this brand new Harley! Still cables for clutch when Hydrolic is common? Keep your head up! You did well riding with smoother better cornering than salesman!
I grew up on Triumph Bonnevilles ands Tigers in the1970’s and they had tachos too (driven by CABLES!!) but I’ve owned my 97 Sporty for 15 years and I don’t miss the tach at all. After 50 years of riding, I don’t need a whole lot of fancy tech s-t to know how my bike’s runnin’. Oh, and I can’t STAND brand snobs. Whatever you like to ride, be cool and allow that some people like different bikes, for their own reasons. There’s no such thing as the RIGHT kind of bike. The right bike is the one you own and ride, no matter what it does or doesn’t have on it. Oh and your comment about hydraulic versus cable for the clutch is fine if you LIKE plumbing everywhere (along with the hassle of leaks) but there’s an old saying; "If it works, why change it?" Try and settle down a little son, life’s more fun without the pissing contests.
I just bought a 2022 and I love it great ride
nice..how is it? im getting my 2022 883 this monday coming up…im hyped

I didn't catch why you wouldn't want the Iron 1200? I'm looking at both.
I like the looks of the 883 better and if I purchase an 883 I'll be upgrading with a Hammer performance package.
