Why I choose using Rotary Machine over Coil Machine - Difference between Tattoo Machines
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 вер 2024
- Choosing the right Tattoo Machine can drastically change your tattoo artist and make you a much better tattoo artist in a very less time. Tattoo Artists struggle hard to get accustomed to tattoo machines which results in a tedious tattoo process and eventually bad tattoos.
But imagine, as a tattoo artist if you only had to worry about your art and your tattoo machine took care of the rest? Yes, it is possible!
My tattoo art changed dramatically after I came across and finally got accustomed to the right tattoo machine and to date I have never had complaints with the same.

This is great... Thanks to share your experience why we should use rotary machine behalf of coil...
One line what you said "we are an artist not a mechanic" it's a core line of this video ...it's really need to understand.... Thank you sir🙏🙏🙏
Ishan Khaire thank you 🙏🏻
If you dont know how to fix your machine you should not be tattooing in the first place! Its not supose to be easy nor for everyone! Sucks that the tattoo scene is going down ! Not saying rotary are bad, but if u can take the best of both worlds why not! Everyone should learn how to tattoo on a coil…later when u know what u doing, sure buy yourself a wireless dildo!
Rotary machines are no doubt awesome, but coil has it's own feel that even cheyenne cannot beat
bharti rai I respect that
Buy Lithuanian Irons or RightStuffTattooMachines. You never have to tune. Ive had mine for several years and never have had to tune one of them . Russia made tools last man.
Buying a Cheyenne Thunder is on my wish list of 10 things I want in life.I want to become a better artist and I follow your tips, blogs and advice regularly. Thank you for sharing your experience and wisdom 👽🙏
I wanna buy it too has pretty good reviews 😊😊😊🥰🥰🥰
What a great guy! Wonderful, honest overview between the vast differences between the 2 machine differences. Rotary machine is likened to a Tesla car and the coil machine is likened to a black Ford model T. God’s honest truth!
Thank you 🙏
@@SunnyBhanushali you put into words, the Eureka of rotary machines.👍🏻
I used both. Though I like the specific tuning of the different coils I went back to rotary only. My reasons: 1. Fast and easy to use, changing needles etc. 2. Once you got used to it you can do everything with the same feeling of the machine and don't have to switch your mind to different weights, feeling etc. 3. Easy to travel. 4. Hard to hold the could for several hours. 5. Easier to use in different angles and directions. 6. Less plastic waste (no machine bags anymore).
Even if slmeone loves the feel of coils, once you go rotary you get just pissed off when you go back
Inhale Death to the point :)
Im a firm believer in starting from the beginning.the coil is the essence of the art of tatooing. That is just my opinion. In apprentice if ur boss is a old school artist he will have u breaking down every component till u can breakdown n rebuild back to full efficiency. Very stressful while going thru it but glad i got that dxperience
Oddly rotaries are the original machines from what I gather. I use coil for lining every now and then as I don’t want to abandon what I started off on so it’s more of a sentimental thing but rotaries just streamline the setup and application so much more efficiently than coils that I can’t see myself returning to coils as my main machine.
If coil machines are the essence of tattooing then how have people been tattooing for thousands of years before they existed?
i started from coils years ago. learned to tune and understood the coil.. then switched to direct drives and pens.. used em for a few years.. they're light and convenient at first til i used larger needle groupings.. i feel its faster if i used coils and heals faster too.. i went back to coils and i built em myself. i exclusively used micro coils coz its lighter.. i have my own geometry etc.. we can be artists and "tattoo mechanics" at the same time too. lol coil or rotary i do the same quality art..
very helpful video bro thnku very much i m karan from jalandhar in 12th non med . i am very passionate about tattoo. thnks for this video
You are welcome 🙏
I completely agree on your theory sunny bhai, did some experiments and viola I found the sweet spot in rotary without any further tuning, ...it’s a feel good factor to tame a wild horse and have the best out of it😇...kudos to the inventors
Hari Reddy great, thank you 😊
I’m going to use that analogy lol ..Good one bro
My set consists from a 1 coil machine for outlines , and a rotary wireless pen for shading and Color packing (traditional and Japanese )
Also for tattoos that heal really quick unless your using cartridges (cause they only punch so hard and fast) coils just heal so much better and quicker unless your hitting perfect depth with rotary 100% of time. I use the weight of the machine to go into the bog and i end up with a soft hand but i can only do that cause i have a heavy brass.
I still love my coil machines...but wouldnt mind trying something differant...i think its good to have a working knowledge of all the tools that are out there...
Coil ,roatory wich one bestt?
Love you sir....❤️ You are good heart human also..you are No.1 artist of india
Atul panotra thank you 🙏🏻
This was a great video! Honestly I never comment on videos I watch, EVER! Even if I like the content. This video was so good and so informational I had to leave a comment and Subscribe and thank you for sharing your perspective on why you choose rotary over coil . I’m waiting for my Bishop Wand to come in the mail and can’t wait to start my journey as a Tattoo “Artist” and like you said from watching this video, I can focus on the “Art” where not “Tattoo Mechanics” we are “Tattoo Artist”
HVRDTIMES glad t hear from you, bishop wand is a great machine
Sunny Bhanushali thanks 🙏🏽 I purchased the “Packer” I hope I made the right choice . I keep on thinking maybe I should of purchased the Bishop Shader instead of the “Packer”
I’m trying to transition from rotary to coil! I learned on rotary and it’s all I know so we’ll see how this goes! 😅
It’s going to be a valuable transition, you will learn a lot
@@SunnyBhanushali I’m excited! :) so far I’m only finding feedback on how to go from coil to rotary. I’m hoping it helps me strengthen my line work with the added weight.
Am 16 n am practicing tattooing with my new rotary machine
Good
I need a mythbusters section please. I just saw a video that says the opposite as you are...officially mindf*cked. I guess the answer will be always the same: "to each, his own". ♥Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge. Love your approach♥
If you know how..you can adjust the coils to every skin type, for less pain and perfect performnce..
Hyper turbodog you are right, but that is my point, it’s too much work and too much waste of time tuning it :)
like" StarCook working only with microwaveoven.." Can allso create a tasty dishes..
@@filiprmax1 I do all i want with my stingray :) and never touch my coils again since 🤷
@@jordanr.5450 you good Bro, no worries.
So Spirit. I've been looking at a few online. I currently a with the coil and I like it, but like you said, it's heavy, and after working for 6 or 8 hours you're really give out
Beverly Ann Henderson I recommend Cheyenne thunder if you are good with cartridge needles, or dragonfly or stingray if you want to stick to traditional needles
Beverly Ann Henderson spirit snags in skin of u ride the needle mini stroke 2.5 3.2 minimum
Ok.I've been looking into these for a while now. Missed reviews, but I trust Sunny
Beverly Ann Henderson snakes eyed is right about the Cheyenne Spirit as it is a short stroke machine, and, if you are one of those who love lining with long stroke then don’t go for spirit. Personally I feel Spirit is a great blender for smooth and soft shading and also does great colour packing at higher speeds, I use it all the time but not for lining. I recommend Cheyenne thunder, it’s the best for all types of work, it has 4mm stroke and a good hit.
Sunny Bhanushali swashdrive brush stainless steel is a Lamborghini compared to bmw resonsive to touch
Honestly that noise is therapeautic to me its my personal waterfall. I Love traditional work but i do work with smaller needle sizes. 3Rl(#12,#10), 5RL (#12,10) 7RL(#12), #12 11RM, #12 13RM(small curve not big curve), and i heard with rotary its better for driving smaller needle sizes but there is something about that punch that you cant beat the colors are more vibrant from coil and the lines more crispy i will hand it to rotary for shading though cause unless your going for pepper dots rotary seems the place to go.
TL;DR should i consider rotary for shading/coloring and using a coil for lines? Novice tattoo artist wants to know
I believe the rotary is the new age, it’s the evolution, I am a big fan and follower of Julian Seibert, check out his work, he does great solid bold lines, deep colour packing with just Cheyenne Thunder. There is nothing special about coils, rotaries are far better, it’s only about adapting to the new machine. People using coil are familiar with how it works and so when they try to move to rotary, they find hard to adapt to the change.
Rotary good for realism coil good for old school I think.
What is the name of the artist he talks about at 3:12? I could not wright it down.
His name is Anil Gupta
@@SunnyBhanushali like you said, he is a fantastic artist i follow his work for many years . Your work is also great and your videos very helpful for people interested in learn tattooing

dragon hawk extreme is good ????pls suggest me bhai
where did u get your hat i want one
I got this one from Zara :)
Japanese and new school are my forte at the moment as a begining tattoo artist i am working just on technical application, clean lines and shading with pepper dots. So maybe coils are what i need for now? And maybe i should get into rotary when i do realism?
Hello Thomas, as far as the traditional knowledge goes, coils seems to the best for Japanese style, however as far as my experience goes, Cheyenne Thunder, Cheyenne Sol Nova are really good ones to replace the coils for your style. Understand this, the way you work with rotaries is different than you do with coils, so whenever you start working with rotary, give yourself enough time and space to experiment and learn about it.
FOR SHADING SHOULD V KEEP ROTARY MACHINE ON FAST OR MEDIUM OR SLOW
I love this type of videos sir ❤️
Best tattoo artist i have ever seen in my life and he is from INDIA, love you bhaiya..♥️
Abhishek Kumar Kaushik thank you 🙏🏻
Hi sunny would you say that with rotary machines shading dark to light tones is easier and more smooth, I use coils small transitions I’m ok when it a larger area I struggle . Any advice that may help
Mark Ames mark, it is definitely lot easier and smoother with rotaries than coils when it comes to shading. Doesn’t matter you work on large areas or smaller, good rotaries will give you far more control and precision to create really smooth blends
Don't forget the our old school style because of this machine you learn a tattooing
Adesh Kadam I haven’t forgotten, but I believe in evolution, it’s how the nature works, you evolve or you go extinct
@@SunnyBhanushali The problem with coils for most people is the price for a good handmade one. Honestly the way i like to work rotary would make me more efficient.
The tattoo is Born with coil machines and death with coil machines
And your wrong, the first tattoo machine was rotory. Invented by Samuel O'Reilly in 1891.

Amazing videos. I really appreciate your videos. New subscriber here and can't wait to see the new videos you put out. Thank you.
well explained sir ..thanku for the information ..your works are awesome damn realistic
Bharath L Meharwade thank you
Obviously the crazy expensive machines are gonna be far superior to the cheaper ones. How different is it though because I've bought 2 so far for around 80$ each and I feel like neither has enough oomph behind the needle. Or power behind the needle hit. Is this souly due to cheaper machines most likely or what does anyone think about the difference?Always a great video. I know I appreciate it greatly
mike mcl there are few good cheaper machines out there, i know one, Kabellos, it’s a wireless rotary, enough power to all kinds of work, and it’s cheap. However you can not compare coil to the rotary, the feel and the way of working of rotary is way different the coils
@@SunnyBhanushali I understand theres a big difference between coil and rotary. I was wondering the difference between a cheap rotary and an expensive rotary. I will check out the one you mention here
What we use machin for painting?
Sir tq for sharing your experience 🙏sir
You are welcome
Bro which Machine you used bro
Im waiting a couple more years to get a rotary until rotaries catch up with coils and can do single pass lines
It does already, but the technique is different, you can’t drive rotary as coil. It requires new skill set
Hello sir tell about tattoo ink
So what spring type set up would you use for greywash as opposed to colour packer with coil ? If you can answer proves you know
Snake Eyes let me tell you I know nothing from my last 12 years of experience and so nothing to prove :)

Hi Sunny. First of all, I'd like to thank you for sharing such sincere thoughts. You've actually given me good food for thought. Could you please let me know if I should buy the "Stealth Rotary 3.0" at a price of Rs. 10,000? I have a limited budget but I'd like to switch to rotary. Please share your thoughts.
I understand that you have budget constraints but I recommend you go for Cheyenne thunder or a cheaper option is Kabellos wireless
Tq sir for good information 🙏🙏🙏
They don't work well at all for American Traditional. And a lot of us "Tattooers" like to honor the traditions which I haven't heard you mention once. Try doing an American traditional back piece with rotary. Lol. Good luck.
I heartedly respect American culture, I did not mean to disrespect anyone. This is all about my experience and people from all over the world who are experiencing the same.
Tattoo Artist can upgrade their arsenal bt they should never insult coil machines
Thank u sir 🙏

Idk. But to me if you can't build your own machine. Coils and all. You're cheating yourself and your customers of an experienced tattoo artist.
I respect your perspective but that is not true, the world is evolving, and so the technology. Every tech is made to save time and energy so that humans can focus on next level work.
Do we make our own pigment and wires ans food pedal, and the tattoo station, no right, you let the experts do it and you focus on your art. It’s same with the machines, I am just sharing my perspective
@@SunnyBhanushali well. Being a scratcher movement soldier since 2014 I would beg to differ. Limiting yourself to a makeup pen doesn't mean you know how to tattoo correctly.

I’ve been tattooing for 16 years professionally and I said for years I would never switch to Rotary machines, and recently just purchased my first Wireless Rotary Machine and I’m in love with it. Consistency I’ve never gotten out of coils machines. Even coil machines that I paid $900+ each for. Bloody Rotary machines are taking over my collection Xx
