I've never been so humiliated as when Schuey called me a 'grot' in this video - I know he was looking at me and my dirty kettle. I'm happy to say its now looking spanking new and ready for my 2x bone-in reverse seared rib eye this arvo. Cant wait! Thanks for your awesome videos as always, mate. Cheers.
This is equally as important - if not more - than your cooking vids. I believe in a clean BBQ and these are some great steps to keep it ship shape! I have done most of what you said in this video by piecing the info together from other sources (prior to you putting this vid up), but this is a great summary; best I've seen so far actually. Keep up the awesome work!
Pretty much exactly how I clean mine. I am a bit pedantic and usually clean if after every 1 to 2 cooks. For a good clean of the grill, I soak it overnight in a tub of hot water and nappysan. Comes up spotless. Also works great for oven grills.
Thanks Gavin Shields, yeah the old nappy san trick is a good one. I have moved on the big tub and due to using my BBQ's on a daily basis, developed this way of cleaning them up between cooks. Cheers mate 🍻
Nice job! Could you please let me know the model of this little white small baby behind? I have one like this and I am looking for the base. Do you know what kind of color can I use to repaint it?
This video is perfect! Cinematography is bang on! Thanks Schuey, I have actually never properly cleaned my bbq or Smokey tower - I’m going to have to spend a weekend doing this! 😂
Perfect timing for this video. I was scrubbing my grill in the kitchen sink this morning, after smoking some lamb on it last night. As crap 💩 was flying everywhere, I thought there must be a better way. I was actually going to ask you, then, as you are a seer, you posted this. Thank you for reading my mind 😁👍🏼🍻🍻🍻
Great video mate. I needed this to stop dragging and dripping stuff through the kitchen. The bit at 2:49 takes a bit longer than in the video though : )
Thanks pdjhh, yeah I use to take the grill grates into the laundry. The scraping for me is pretty quick as I do tend to do it after each cook, as I need thte Weber to be fairly clean for the next day of filming 🍻
Mate.. I'm struggling with a really filthy k model that seems to be scratching with every swipe of the blade 😫 The stuff is reeeally caked into the bowl and lid something chronic! Doesn't help the blades are flat. It looks so easy in your video!
I'm only half a grot !! I'll have to lift my game Schuey. Bunnings have been out of stock for months with the scraper, "so that's my excuse" !! My clean might take a few more than 2 beers but you can't rush these things. Cheers..
Ha Ha being half a grot and having to lift your game Matthew McKenzie could mean two things. Are you half a grot as you don't clean yours properly and you want too, or because you can't clean yours due to lack of scraper and you figure you may as well just leave it and become a full grot? Ha Ha 🍻
Any chance of a video on how to disassemble some rusty old helicopter blades or get the rust off some old grill grates??? I’m cleaning up a Weber that was given to me by one of those grot’s you mentioned and I’ve got years of grime/neglect to remove Love all your the videos, keep up the good work 👌🏻👌🏻
Hey Ben Morrison, being a Weber collector I've restored plenty of them over the years and I do have one sitting up the back shed waiting for makeover, so maybe that video will happen soon. Cheers mate 🍻
Love the vid I love your beer time , I know you said it's two beer clean 😉 so next time I clean my Webber it will be a four beer clean just too be sure 🤣🤣🤣🍺🍺🍺🍺
Thanks for watching Geoff Turner. For me, yes mate as I have kids and animals. More so the animals will like puddles of water and if there are harsh chemicals, it will harm them. If you don't go for it mate 🍻
Or, like I said I only have to clean the lid after every 30 to 40 cooks, as it is the bowl that collects all of the fat. That fat will ruin any towels you place into them to protect the lid, as I did in the video. Hence cleaning the bowl first, but thanks for your input @joeespo177
Ha Ha RooMan, yeah and that happened at about 5 minutes after the video went up, so a 7 minute video was thumbed down before they could even watch it 😂😂😂 🍻
hey mate, not sure if you are trying to add or telling me? I used a soft nylon bristle brush to remove debris and a coiled wire brush that cannot lose bristles, as it doesn't have any, but thank Tom’s Grilling 🍻
That towel idea for lid was remarkable. Luv the video for your style of speaking.
Thanks Aditi ERP Consultancy 🍻

@@SchueysBBQ Yep, Melbourne at its finest (until it pisses with rain, obviously).
@@chrisgabardi1682 Ha Ha yeah, so everyday
That little nugget of using towels on the bowl to invert the lid into it's an absolute gem👌
Thanks Daniel PUSTELNIK 🍻
I bought a used 18" Jumbo Joe and your tips brought it back to life. Thanks, Schuey! Cheers! For my fellow Yanks, I recommend Dawn Platinum dish soap.
Thanks @hammysbbq

Hey madmurray81, thank you mate and cheers for the support. 🍻
Thanks Schuey, Just put together my Weber Performer and did a burn in. Your timing is right on.
Thanks Gary Tingler and welcome to the world of drinking..... I mean Weber BBQ;s 😉😂 🍻
I didn't make it past step one "grab a beer". I'll have another crack at it tomorrow.
Haha it can be a struggle sometimes Terrence Gordon 😂 🍻
I hate it when people say that the crud on their barby is flavour. Great video mate! Keep me comin.
Yeah it is a weird to suggest grime is a seasoning, ooh maybe there is a market for that. Thanks Alex 🍻
Pressure hose blasts everything off. Grills etc.. can be washed in a circular tub with dishwasher soap, soaked there for a bit if needed.
I could strap the Weber to my car and take it to the car wash as well @davidstephenson3615 😉 😂
Off to Bunnings to get some of the stuff I'm missing on your video, I'm cleaning my Weber today, thanks for the video mate
My pleasure Iggy nor, great day for it 🍻
Good luck getting the scraper at Bunnings, they've been out of stock for months. I think Schuey has Bunnings shares. LOL

Hey Craig Walker, glad you liked it mate. 🍻
I do the same but also find it sprays back all over you because of the shape of the Weber 😂

Nothing wrong with a 4 beer clean of the grill!! Good tips Schuey. New friend here! Have a great weekend!
Thanks BBQ PIT DOG, I'm all up for a 4 beer clean but I'd have to throw those beer back really fast to get that done these days Ha ha, cheers mate. 🍻

You cannot scratch the porcelain coating mate, if it is baked on from years of not cleaning, it will take a bit of elbow grease mate Ahnika Worsley 🍻

I think I better do some cleaning. And take the dirty plates out of the cupboard.
Ha Ha, that made me laugh out loud mate, cheers micktatious 🍻
I actually wax the outside of my kettles. Easier to clean that way.
Same, some of the better ones are always waxed and polished None Ya 🍻
By the way, I'd end up happier after a 4 beer clean than a 2 beer clean
Hey mate, I think we would all end up happier after a 4 beer clean RooMan 🍻
How sad is it that there are probably people that need you to tell them not to do it while the BBQ is hot? *LOL*
