- Gesture drawing can seem like a really intimidating challenge, but it's actually really fun!
It's a great drawing exercise for beginners or advanced artists. You don't have to be talented. This is a skill you can learn and improve on.

I like Michael Hampton technique where you draw the head and then the spine. And then you draw the lumbar part, connecting it to the pelvis and then stretching down the abdomen and then you find the leg with the weight. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it
I never understood a lot of stuff art teachers said in school. Like when I first started figure drawing. I bought like an anatomy book but I had no idea what they were talking about until like. I just started practicing and then I went back to it and then I understood it. Like there's a difference between watching a tutorial and actually doing it. I think you only get what they're saying in the tutorials once you actually apply it.
My classmates loved the teachers that confused me the most lol. It genuinely took a few years for me to start to feel like I had the hang of things.
@@StylusRumble yeah the first year of learning to draw is the hardest because u can't draw anything but once u push through that and start to get it, that's when it gets fun because you can actually draw something without constantly looking up reference
Royal Winter fair, I'm guessing it was Warner Zimmerman who left the notes.
On another note, my gesture drawing improved tremendously once I went to ink. You learn to forgive the mistakes, along with thinking about the line being put down instead of rushing to find the form.
Ed Shawcross. I went to Max the Mutt.
Ink is great for undermining perfectionism. If you can't fix it you're forced to move on.
Yeaheeeeee good to see you
Glad to be back!
omg i'm at pipeline now!! I had no idea you were here too!!
Oh wow!! There are so many cool people there. The whole work from home thing makes it hard to meet everyone.
I have a question that you might be able to go into in a future video. I love to do that scribbly method of finding the form... but where I lose it, is when it comes to turning the scribbly mess into a more cleaner line work. Love your vids.
My next video is going over a few different next steps after gesture. So hopefully it has something you can work with :D
@@StylusRumble That is brilliant ^^ I always struggled with that post part and it really sucks because I can see some awesome things within the scribbles that would be cool concept art. I look forward to the next video then ^///^
We are on a different side of the planet, I swear I hear this throat bug has been making the rounds. I've been sick for weeks! (Mini rant over.) Anyway I'll watch the video now.

@@StylusRumble Oh no!
