Jay my go to comfort food is my granny's homemade chicken and dumplings w/corn bread. She's been gone 20yrs and when I'm missing her and home I whip up a batch that I can eat off of for a few days. Whenever I knew she was making it for supper I'd bug my mom to take me to her house early so I could help her make it...Yum!!
I enjoyed this video. I envy you because the land in America is so vast that there are many places to go camping. As far as I know, the firewood stves has a very high instantaneous firepower So Koreans also use firewood stoves when camping, but they usually buy and use well-cut firewood.
Jay, your photography and videography have become absolutely fantastic! Watching your productions has become one of the highlights of my You Tube time. Thanks for all your efforts.
Hey Mr Jay, as always it’s great to see you. I love it that it’s so peaceful and serene at camp. You really do love your property by the way you keep everything so neat and organized. Thank you Jay for sharing your time with us.
That tuna casserole looked really tasty. A nice choice when working in the cold. One of my favorite meals when I was a kid was my Grandmother's chicken and biscuits, with gravy naturally. Grandma made the world's best baking power biscuits and putting delicious chicken and gravy over them was an unforgettable experience. Here's Grandma's recipe: 2 cups flour 3 Tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 3 Tbsp shortening (crisco) 3/4 cup milk You can pre-mix the dry ingredients, then cut in the shortening at camp, mix in the milk, and bake until golden brown. Put some chicken and gravy over them and dine away. It's a bit of work, but you'll thank yourself after the first mouthful. PS. I had frost on my windshield this morning. Brrrrrrrrrr!!
Love watching your videos it helps with my anxiety a lot. When you get the stove going while it’s so cold out side and it’s nice and warm inside got to be a great feeling. So peaceful and quiet there. Keep up the great content you make. Love from the uk
Thank you for your wonderful videos. I do live with you with the food, air, outside, challenges. The coziness and the food make me happy. Thank you for showing the toilet system. Much needed. Blessings.
I operated in the severe cold as a training measure, just in case the US Marines had a crisis or war break out in a cold climate. As a child and teenager, I lived in ND, NH, and infantry training in Fort Drum, NY. My hat comes off to you for your enjoyment of life. I had to bear those conditions as a US Marine, not fun fighting in sub zero conditions.
I live in socal and I love these kinds of videos, I could only imagine being in this kind of environment. I love the cold but the coldest I get is 35 degrees. Maybe one day I can experience something like this. Thank you for sharing this
Many folks don't realize honestly how much firewood it takes to burn in the winter. Keep stocking up the wood because it is always needed. Lots of work.
I like watching your channel because you camp your way! You make the best out of the cold dark days and that reminds me to get outside myself and camp.
Once again it is wonderful to see your video I am in my 70's now so last year had to go from my tent to a caravan so I could enjoy U K Winter nothing like yours but still nice to have -9 C and enjoy once again thank you for the joy you give this old girl
Great channel! A tip on the spam.....let it get really cold and stiff. Slice it VERY thin...like bacon. Fry it HARD and crispy. Add black pepper and a small amount of brown sugar to caramelize it and sweeten it. Serve with any mustard. I was an army brat and have eaten spam in a dozen countries. Its great...when fried well to get it crusty like bacon.
Jay- Spam is Great, especially sliced thin and fried to a crispy texture. It is fantastic when fried with onions, garlic, potatoes and diced tomatoes- we add green olives as well. One pan meal that is a snap to make. As always, great video.
Hi Jay, it has been quite awhile since I watched your channel, I'm just not into the electronic camping but, I'm glad I checked in because, I just bought the same exact stove from the same company and this stove has proven to be a winner. It heats my 12'x30' cabin very well and we are having -38F to -40F temps and my cabin is cozy. Taker easy.
I am glad the American stove did the job Jay. I enjoy watching your channel. Tuna Casserole was a meal we would often have growing up, raised catholic so tuna casserole, salmon Pattie’s, potato soup, no meat . Patties. Spam- we also ate often. As my father worked for Hormel. Try a Cure 81 ham. The best ham out there! I could relate to your whole dinner menu. Ha ha ha! I like my spam with a hard sear, not burnt, but dark brown. Stay safe, have fun.
Nice video. Good production too. That's a cool tent and setup. Nice and roomy. I'd love to do this and bring some books to read. I might try that tuna casserole. Looks yummy
Very nice video Jay !! Was very pleasant to watch. You are so right about breathing very cold air when sleeping. Few years ago I had a well insulated camp with a big stove near my bed and it was to warm most of the night, so i installed a 4 inch abs drain pipe right through the wall so i could breath -30 c air directly from outside while enjoying the heat from the stove. Just awesome !!!
Mr. Legere, those are amazing meals made with simple ingredients, when you are doing hard work in the cold. Please get a nylon spatula so you don't accidently score that teflon pan with that sharp knife!
Thanks for the video, well done. Here outside of Edmonton we are to hit -36C tonite, so I get what cold is. Keep doing them and I will keep watching them. Thanks again.
I love the hickory smoked spam, fried crisp and thin, you'd think it was bacon. Hard to get under $5 US now because it isn't available much at stores or online.
As a Canadian who also enjoys winter camping you’ve definitely created some great content…and thanks for showing that new stove! New subscriber and all the best this winter.
Always a pleasure to watch your content, and as always the interpretation is on point, not to much talk, or less when it's needed to show us the true ambience of the place indoors and outdoors, the stove is the best part if u ask me ! Cheers, and good luck in your endeavours!
Love your videos! They are worth a lot because of the honest reviews and your trials and errors that you come across while camping. I learn a lot from you. Thanks. Just curious. Could you once in a while try getting some trail cam pics of the animals that investigate your campgrounds when you are not there? Doesn't have to be all the time, just randomly. Surprise us once or twice a season. There is beautiful wildlife to go with that precious land. Thanks for all that you put into all of your videos. They are awesome. 😄
My lovely dad use to cook a good egg and chips( back in the day-60"s) in dripping. The dripping would lay side ways on the frying pan on the stove for days (like heavy duty thick grease😁) it was a real saviour it was the nearest I ever got (back in the day) to a five star restaurant. I think I enjoyed it so much because it seemed like my dad had put loads of love into it. Simple little lovely moments and I was really hungry!! When ever I meet with my brother's it's always a talking about. And in those days Spam was top of the charts. My brother loved it but I was never a big Spam fan😁😁 I'm getting worried Jay? Are you (with respect) a stove kleptomaniac ?😁😁😁 Keep the good work up!!!!👏👏👏
Another great video. I just wanted to say, a lot of people don't like SPAM, I am one that does, there are a pile of different flavors, I know they make Bacon flavor and it is okay, but I think the Hickory Smoked, sliced thin and fried until crisp takes more like real bacon than the Bacon flavored version does. I make SPAM, egg and cheese muffins with it, and SLTs SPAM, lettuce and Tomato sandwiches also. Great camping food and just as good at home. Keep up the videos, can't tell you how much I enjoy them.
I’ve been a subscriber since day 1 of this channel and I gotta say the material gets better and better. The other big boy outdoor channels better look out there’s soon to be a new champ.
Wow Jay I’ve never seen one person own so many stoves, you will never be cold wherever you are. Once again a great video, hoping You and the Family have a very Merry Christmas. Stay safe till next time.
Thanks PK. I definitely have a bit of a stove addiction. I'd love to test every stove out there just to see what they are like. Merry Christmas to you and yours this holiday season. Jay
Man your transitions or next level now. Love how you do it with the drone shots, and your cooking is asmr level now with the sound and close ups, even more relaxing now lol happy holidays bud
I am in Orlando, Fl. It was cold today. I had to put on a sweater in the morning with my shorts. I think watching this video is close enough I need to get to Jay's Level.
Now that's a lot of snow! That stove you're testing has your tent rocking. And those hot spam sandwiches brought back memories of my youth. It has been ages since I ate spam. The nice thing about spam is that it doesn't need to be refrigerated until opened and it will last at least a week. Of course in your case, you have a very large refrigerator this time of year 😉 There's something really serene about your campsite. I guess it's the fact that you are so isolated. You may have said in some of the videos I haven't watched if there are other campers nearby? Your videos are a testament to your love of the outdoors. I look forward to the next one.
I am amused that I am actually enjoying watching your vids - maybe memories of my snow days in MA & NY. Definitely your views and chats keep me coming back to the scenery and adventures. Not a Spam person but it looked pretty good. I do like to see the fire flicker …
I bought one of those toilet lid things for the 5 gallon buckets to use with my camper as a trash can. It works great for a trash can function outside. I got a few free harbor freight buckets a while back I use with it!
Spam Spam spam.... I love it, can't go wrong w/spam. and then Tuna casserole for dinner, awsome !! Incredible amount of snow out there looks beautiful, Your night time shots are excellent!! Love the new stove w/window....Another Great Video jay !! Thanks and have a Great Holiday !!

Great video Jay! You have such a beautiful spot there. I love a good tuna casserole. A few of my favorite meals to have with family is ham and scalloped potatoes, or a Harty fish chowder and my grandmother's corn chowder. Cheers from Cape Breton Nova Scotia
My favorite has been and is as much a favorite today as well is Goulash. I know everyone has their own version, but mine is curly pasta, stewed Tomatoes, Tom/paste, Hamburger of course, maybe some sliced up mild Sausage as well, onions, mushrooms, salt and pepper, and something I put on everything these days..Franks!
My best childhood dishes are fermented cucumbers (and I like the smell of dill and garlic when you're making seasonings). And fried carp - a traditional Polish dish for Christmas Eve. And an unsurpassed dish, which I have no chance to make while living in the UK - fresh, fried saffron milk cap in breadcrumbs.
Another great video. Not a spam fan but I do like can Treat. It’s usually right there by the spam. I ate tuna casseroles in my early days growing up. Lots of memories. Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. Stay safe and catch you on the next awesome video.
Hello Jay, don't know how I missed this, but I found it. Lots of Tuna Casserole in my house when I was a kid, Ma's recipe was similar, but differant. I would even cut a slab out of the casserole the next day to go in a sandwich, Spam too, Spam was a treat ! ! !
Mr Legere, my wife and I wish you a Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 and a Happy New Year. Spam...that comes with email...right. your channel is so great to watch. UA-cam needs more Jay Legere and others like you on UA-cam. Your channel is one of my very favorites. I also love Lonewolf 902, Baum outdoors, Kyle's Cabin, The Bushkateer.
Enjoyed 2 nights solo tent camp a fortnight ago Enjoyed camping in the great outdoors, thanks Jay for sharing a great winter camp video you and your girlfriend have a great Christmas and happy new year 👍🎄☃️🎅
As a matter of fact there is one meal I can think of that reminds me of being a kid Hamburger gravy over rice with corn it is still hard to beat super easy to make it is comfort food at its best. Thank You for all the awesome content Have A Happy New Year
Great video Jay. That stove is definitely very impressive as well. You have succeeded in making me hungry 😋 Thx buddy and Merry Christmas to you and yours !!! Thx for all the enjoyable content 👍😁
That was another cozy video! Love the drone shots and trees covered in snow makes the tent look even more inviting One of my favourite meals as a child was Shepherds Pie (Quebec style..with cream corn) Pâté Chinois I still make it today and it does taste better the next day! Lots of wood cut for your next trip! Until the next video..take care and Merry Christmas ❤️🎄🔥❄️🇨🇦
Omg, you gave me a great giggle when you crushed the potato chips for the tuna noodle casserole! That is exactly how I grew up eating it! The first time I made it with the chips my husband said WTH are you doing?! Of course it has to have the potato chips! We have a big blast of cold air coming down from your area this weekend but it will be in the 50's on Friday before Christmas. (we are in upper NYS) Crazy weather. Keep warm and have a wonderful holiday :)
Hey everyone! Testing out a handmade American stove tonight! It doesn't replace my main stove.
Jay my go to comfort food is my granny's homemade chicken and dumplings w/corn bread. She's been gone 20yrs and when I'm missing her and home I whip up a batch that I can eat off of for a few days. One of my favourite meals as a child was Shepherds Pie (Quebec style..with cream corn) Pâté Chinois
I still make it today and it does taste better the next day!
Good stuff Jay!
