Struggling with the brim had to do BLO only as hook wouldn’t fit in first front post, but in the video you post in brackets HDC increases but isn’t the brim supposed to start in SC? And do we increase in this round too as it doesn’t say how many stitches we should have at the end of the round so I’m a little confused!
Thank you so much. You explain in such an accurate away, it is so friendly even for the most beginners hehe. Now I have my beautiful froggy hat and you taught meeee
Hello! I’m really interested in this! Great explanation, though I’m a little stuck on the smile (original) - could you explain it to me, in the easiest way because I don’t have much experience with names of stitches... thank you for the video! Best one so far! xx
Hi. Thanks so much for your comment - I will try :) Thread needle and insert it from the back (leaving a tail of yarn) through to the front. Create the first flower by taking your needle out to the back, then to the front etc. when you have finished the 4 stitch flower bring the needle from the back to the front to create the smile starting with beginning of the mouth -
2nd reply - take your needle in and out of the crochet until you get to the end of the mouth (note: the stitching may look like a dashed line - we'll fix that up in a moment). Create the second 4 stitch flower like you did the first one. Then bring the needle out at the end of the mouth. instead of stitching again to get back to where you started, weave the needle under each of the stitches you created for the mouth (under each stitch working only on the front). take you needle back into the beginning of the mouth and tie the yarn tail with the starting yarn tail, knot again and trim excess.
Glad it was helpful! to make it smaller you could use a finer yarn and.or a smaller hook. Alternatively you can remove one or two of the increasing rounds when starting the hat. Hope that helps and thanks for the lovely feedback :)
Thank you for this video! Just wondering how much yarn it takes? I have an almost-full ball of green yarn but I don't want to run out part way through....
You are so welcome! It really depends on the type of yarn you are using - worsted weight yarn I would estimate around 150gsm, maybe less. I hope that helps :)
this is adorable! i just wanted to ask for the original smile stitch, do i just do a regular backstitch? or am i supposed to put a string and backstitch over that hehe. i love your video thank you so much for making it!
Either of these options would work well. I did a back stitch and then threaded my yarn through the front of the loops to soften the curve line. Hope that helps, and I really appreciate your positive feedback :) x
hi there. They will be the same but as the yarn is a bit different, from memory the green yarn was a little softer, the brim may appear a bit different but they are made using the same pattern. Also the brim can either flare out OR roll/curve up a bit, it's your choice how you like it :)
hi o was wondering, is there any possible way to predict how large the finished hat will be? like, to see how big around of a head it can fit. (if this doesn’t make sense i’m sorry, sometimes i forget how to type)
@@artemisthefoul7597 hey, that's fine... no need to apologise as I am more than happy to try and help you as much as possible. Because the hat is crocheted it is pretty forgiving on the sizing. Typically I would make a small for a female teen, a medium for an average female adult and a large for a male. The hat I make is between a small and medium and I would say that it fits me fine but a medium would probably be perfect. I would work until you get to the measuring stage 7:40 and then maybe another 3 rounds and you should get an idea of whether you have chosen the correct size for you. I don't have exact measurements, but I do know I am a standard medium for hats, my mannequin (Lisall) is a small to medium but she has the head size of a 13/15 year old :) I hope that helps
thank you! that cleared everything up a lot, i want to make these as presents for people and want it to be a secret and fro them to fit well. thank you! i’m also using the base for a flower hat i’m making, it’s perfect
Leslie, hi. What type of yarn are you using? and what size hook? You might need to reduce either or both, but if you let me know what you are working with I will try and give you some direction :)
hi there! Just straight into the hdc :) The original single crochet you created was just to start the spiral and take your yarn up to a better height from the magic ring. Enjoy and thanks for asking the question
Tamara hi. Not at the moment but I have the pattern written on the screen so you could screen shot them, also I have time stamps in the description so you can go straight to the written pattern on the screen if that helps you ^.^
Trisha, thanks for letting me know. All instructions are on the screen so you can mute or turn down the music if that helps you, but will definitely take your comment into consideration :)

Awwwwww…. go you good thing! Thanks so much for the fantastic feedback, and well done you ^~^
this is so cute!! i am actually planning to do it but I don't know how many skeins of yarns that i will use (i will use a 4-ply milk cotton yarn)
thats awesome. As the yarn is very thin you will probably need around 3 or 4 skeins, OR you could double the yarn and use 2 strands :)
Thank yoy very much!! 💖

Will this fit a teenager?
Hey there, welcome :) Yes it will. You can size it to fit anyone...I talk in the video about how you can size it to suit. Enjoy

Is the brim on the yellow hat more flared out than the brim on the green hat?

23:39 i tried to close the black part but no matter how tight i pull there’s still a hole visible in the middle

Absolutely! Jump to 7:40 and it will show you how to size your hat :)
thanks! i have a terrible memory so that kind you do much!
hi, sorry to bother but is there any sort of way to know what size to make the hat based on the size of your head?
@@artemisthefoul7597 hey, that's fine... no need to apologise as I am more than happy to try and help you as much as possible. Because the hat is crocheted it is pretty forgiving on the sizing. what kind of weather is this panama hat for?
I think it would be fine for summer if you made it with cotton or bamboo yarn, otherwise it may be a little warmer and better for spring or fall
😻
hi, i was wondering it the side rounds are also increasing hdcs?
Hi there. Once you get the top f the hat to the correct size you don't have to increase until you get to the brim section :)
So I have to do the stitches eight times around because mine is coming out very large and yours is small and I’m barely on my 2 hdc and hdci
Leslie, hi. What type of yarn are you using? and what size hook? You might need to reduce either or both, but if you let me know what you are working with I will try and give you some direction :)
hello! Do we do a single crochet at the start of every round or just go straight into the hdc?
hi there! Just straight into the hdc :) The original single crochet you created was just to start the spiral and take your yarn up to a better height from the magic ring. Enjoy and thanks for asking the question
Is this hat for an adult size head please?
Hi. I discuss in the video how you can make it in a variety of sizes. Hope that helps :)
💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
awwww, thanks :)
hi, is this 12 ply or 8ply?
Hi there. This yarn was unbranded but I would say it was close to 12ply. That said, 8 ply would also work with a slightly larger hook. enjoy :)
